So this just happened:
I figured it would be soon, the way his health has been declining, but it still was kind of a surprise it happened this quick.
Yea just heard, I'm really bummed about this. He made our world what it is, I can't think of how many times I see my iphone and wonder how we got here. I hope his vision lives on through the company.
Rest In Peace man
Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech 2005 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1R-j...ayer_embedded#!
A video worth watching and very much a view to come ..
Having worked at Apple as tech in the Elk grove plant it was great to be part of the early iMacs and G3 and g4 systems and seeing the innovation that Steve saw and made.. He will greatly missed..
I thought it would be fitting to give a cyber message
you will be missed
Bummer. He was the only reason why Mac's had such a high standard. It really means something when a company is run by the inventor that created the product they are selling. It's not going to be the same with some "executive" running it.
I think that's a considerable prediction, Raoul.
One of a small group of people who decided that they could make a change, counter to what everyone else "in the know" told them was possible. Then they did it, a few hundred times or more. I would have been happy to die knowing I had 1/1,000,000th the impact this man had on every aspect of the modern world. It was a good ride, Steve. Y'did good. Thank you.

Hopefully, colleges can learn from Steve Jobs (or Sir Ken Robinson), and give their students more freedom on what courses to take. A student won't want succeed in an area that the student is not interested in.
Twinkle, twinkle little star
I don't wonder what you are

I know that you are hydrogen - Ian D.
Damn. I remember hearing about a replacement for him but I didn't know this was why!
56? Well, at least he left his mark on this world. A life lived without purpose, is a life not worth living, and his life had great meaning. I celebrate your existence, and acknowledge your passing.

Even though I don't own any Apple products, the rest of my family kind of does and Steve Jobs just seemed... Creative. Even Bill Gates stated that he was very sad. Huge loss.
Even though I've never been a fan of apple nor the phenomenon I do however acknowledge that he was extraordinarily good at what he did, a visionary and a legend and for that he has earned my endless respect. Rest in peace.
The only thing I wasn't sure of was if he resigned to live out what time he had left, or he resigned simply because he wasn't really capable anymore.
These are sad news. I was going to post the stanford adress but I see it was already posted.
Very relevent speech to those of us about to graduate and hoping to find our paths.
Steve jobs was an amazing thinker, and though I preffer Windows myself, I have tremendous respect for his creativity, bravado, and the impact he made on our lives. (even if we are Windows users, it is important to know that a lot of the features windows has arose from competition with apple. Both operating systems benefitted from the intense competition).
He was more then a businessman, but a true leader I reckon.
"Steve was among the greatest of American innovators — brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it," said U.S. President Barack Obama.
"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honour," said Gates.
Really sad news..( I was kinda shocked today.. I regret not knowing him personally... R.I.P.
There's nothing impossible to him who will try. Alexander The Great

people hate on the mac, but everything from apple is always worth having.
first celebrity death I actually feel bad about
He looked like he was getting close just before he quit as CEO
At least his suffering is over.
RIP Steve. Thanks for the inspiration and making my digital life a little less cluttered and complicated.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

It really sucks that he died, mainly because I'm one of those Windows users who also likes Macs. (Personally, I prefer the Amiga.) And this is coming from somebody who has an aversion to all those iPod variants.

I'm a Windows fan but still saddened by this.
Regardless of which you prefer, without Mac, Windows would not have had much competition. Neither would have had to raise the bar against eachother and would not have gotten as far.
Fixed.Regardless of which you prefer, without Mac, Windows would not have existed

Here is a question: how many other CEO's can any of us name?
He made running a company sexy to people other than business majors and gold diggers. And I don't know if anyone else in the world will do that again...
I wonder if Mark Zuckerburg will receive a comparable mourning public: significantly more people use his product.
I dont have anything against steve jobs or his inventions... still this thought, Dennis Ritchie's death puts things into perspective... Anyway just thought I'd share
