I will every Thursday.
2nd class today, I had restarted twice. looks more like the model now.
3rd class, next class we're going to test shadows, this class I took a lot of mass off. Worked on the back, added arms, clavicle, and a neck.
WIP 5 weeks to go.
4 more weeks
holy crap that is beautiful
thanks! Half way done 4 more weeks to work on this.
week 5 worked mostly on the back, also worked on neck area, and sides.
sorry the light is a little blown out
Wow mate this is really coming along nice.... Well done!! I'll keep checking in each Tuesday...
GedTasker- Thank you for the kind words
I have next Thursday off, for this class my teacher's husband is Canadian and it's Canadian Thanksgiving. (no post this week)
No problem... I'll keep an eye out for your update next week then mate...
I took a way from the lower back/ lower back (sides) fixed up the chest and the arm pits so that they go back in space more, and unified the surface more, need to tone down areas in the neck, the ribs a little and unify the surface more. 2 more weeks to go.
1 week to go, just need to do some fine tuning, worked on the shoulders and stomach as well as the inner part of the legs.
there will be some nice pic's next week! (with lighting and a back drop!)
That was the last class, I learned a lot. I'm going to cast it in 6 months. Will do last min touch ups then, hope you like it.

Taking another class! The first 2 days we did measuring and drawing and the last 6 classes are sculpting; this is the 1st day of sculpting and 3 day of the class and the 2nd day sculpting, and the 4th day of the class. This is from a live model.
Its all water based clay, but its two different batches so the color is a little bit different. (ran out of clay) In the end it will be casted.
I haven't been on in ages, just been too busy but I finally came on to see what I have missed and wow that Torso is just beautiful! I wish I had room to do some larger pieces here. Your bust is coming along well too, looking good!
I really miss working in a water based clay. I did some really large pieces for a company in scottsdale in around 2005 or so and had really never worked in waterbased clay but thats what I used for those pieces and I just loved it, never had so much fun and I had a whole warehouse to work in so no space problems then. I sure miss it. isn't it fun!
Spending all day 7am 10:30 pm Sunday to finishing this up (work on; eyes, eyelashes, hair, neck, shoulders and smoothing and final touches) than I start casting it!
I started to cast the torso as well!
solticeart: Thanks! Its very fun and I'm learning a lot as well. You should set a date, sit down and do one again, haha! may be a new year's resolution or something.
I love all of those WIP pictures. Itīs funny that when you look at the torso from beginning to 99% complete it almost seems like the model went on a diet
Thanks! hah it kind of does, I tend to make my sculpts too thick at 1st. haha that makes me laugh.
here's the negatives of cast sculpture and the prep for the bust
sorry for the blury pics, the final will be good.
chiseling away, with a pick and a hammer for 4 hours my arm and hands were a little sore.
just need to clean it up, and sand it down then fix the dings.
P.S. you can see the 2 of the tools in the top pic
