Thanks for your reply.
I guess it's just experiment and alot of practice to handle the brushes wel.
The rendering can be taking alot further, maybe i'll go on with it in the future. For now i've got a big old map with loads of refs. Been going out and taking pictures lately. I'll try my hands on those. And still want to do a turner sky study on the beach.
Thanks for watching and the comment.
made a brush to get some texture in not too happy with it maube i'll work some more on it. maybe try the dual brush.

Yeah i went a bit awol with the texture brush and lost alot of contrast need to go back in and fix it.
It's inspired by Willaim Turner and it is nowhere near it...
(for those unfamiliar with turners work http://www.google.nl/search?q=willia...FsWE-wa_h9iUDg )
Included the picture i used as ref beneath.
Woke again @ 6:20 this morning so started a new study from photo of a friend. It's a WIP but dont have time or the focuss to continue atm. i fear i'll destroy more then i'll create.
But this is the first set up.
Enjoy and C&C is always welcome.
Thanks for the input. You have a great sketchbook going on. Thanks again!
cricketts801: YW, thanks for dropping a line.
Here is this days study. From a pix i took @ Berlin-Zoo
Took me bout 1,5h, decided that i wouldn't zoom in so its just slapping on color till it works. i did ofcourse size up and down my brush. I've put in a texture to try it out in the BG and fiddling around with brushes.
Thanks for watching, C&C always welcome.
Berlin Zoo, morning study.
Woke again @ 6:30, didn't feel like doing anything this morning. Started anyway got this as end result. 3h in photoshop using different brushes. It's all about the Crazy-EYe!!
added a higher contrast image. Saw that the arc vs the owl was a bit flat. Its more powerfull now.

an old friend ask me to draw and paint some figures for their website.
So i made a concept for it. I really dunno what to ask for something like this.... It isn't for him, it's for the company he is working for. They wanted a hero kinda feel to their exsisting photo on their website.
If i'd work this out what would be the going rate? anyone who can point me to the right ball park?
Thanks for your help.
this morning i kept things loose 'n relaxed and just did some sketches from imagination.
This is one of them.
If anyone has an idea about what a commision should cost, pls let me know.
thanks for watching.
some photo's from the studio.
a painting of the client couch of freud (the psycho-dude) that i've been working on for a good half a year. been putting on layers trough glacing and i'm psyched about it if the light catches it at the right angle it pretty ffing awesome. I love paint that way. i'm freacking scared out of my pants i will f*ck it up.......
and some study i made in 15 min that i'm gonna work on some more next week. on a wooden plank. that i found 10 pieces of. some how photoshop doesn't compare in any way to a RL brush and some adjectice (dunno if it's proper english but it sound about right, meaning just add water adn some skill, and no Ctrl-Z.... :cheerleaderemoticoninserthere: ).
((the word i was looking for is Adhesive not adjective, just came to me in the shower while chugging a few liter of liquid ^^ ))
oh and hang overs are bad for the work flow.... I might go back to no drinking, no photoshop for me today.
srry for that bad pix, made them on the fly with my phone
Thanks for watching.
sizes: freud thingy 100x120cm en the scape is 15x30cm

Some WIPs i'm corrently working on of my hometown. trying to find a balance between brush strokes and detail.
All reffed from selfmade photo's.
Thanks for watching. leave a note on your way out
Got my new phone, galaxy Note. This is one of the first trails. Used sketchbook mobile instead of the supplied s-note.
Its something more true to my analog painting.
a 1.5h study i did today. to get things started after having the flu for 10 days....
Oil on panel, think its about 40x30cm

Started this portrait went really well till i discovered i didn't have any crimson red left. So i really struggled to get the shadows right. Will buy some crimson tomorrow and jump in there to get it right.
Was really happy i boughed some napels yellow, i never used it before and its a great katalysator to bind all color nuances together. (brought it down with a bit of cereleum and zinc white)
Also the first time i made the portrait bigger then life, it's really great because there is more room to paint and juggle the paint around. and the strokes are more forgiving. It's more about painting and less about the person.
Thanks for viewing. I'll be giving this another go this week.
bought the crismson red, so no more excuses
Worked on it for about 6 hours non stop today. here is an overview during the day. It very hard to get some live in the dark pieces with the eyes and at the mouth. Hard to find the right shadow colors. My terpine got dirty and it destroyed some light in the colors. Stupid for letting myself get carried away and keep painting. next time i should take a break and get a clean bowl of terpentine.
I ended with blending everything down. gonna let it dry and glace it to match the forehead color and structure. hopefully...
Thanks for viewing.
It's been a while.
Been bussy getting things started up, generating income and what not... seems like a waste of time. (untill the repo man comes to take your pencils )
Been bussy working on my upcomming exhibition so been slinging some oils around i'll post some pix on that later.
Finnally got back to some photoshop doodling. it feels pretty good to be back in the saddle.
So here an 1H study just some messing around. For some reason CS6 is very slow on my machine. This was made in CS5.
Thnx for watching.
portrait of my granpa (sorry for the bad quality photo, somehow my camera just doesn't pick up the colors and right shades)
Somehow my painting on a friday is always better then the stuff i do on a monday.
Maybe its because the stress of the week is behind me on a friday.
Thanx for watching.
Paint or Dye!
That skull is epic and your studies are awesome, maybe I'll try oil painting one day.
Thanks, I'll see if i can get a better picture this one was made with my phone and loses alot of color.
Capt Surge: One does not simply try oil painting ;P
Still working on a good picture on the skull but it's beeing shown in a museum, it might take a while before i get it back.
2 paintings i've made last year. Called Headcase I & Headcase II
Also for the exhibition, they would have been shown in a church, but when the sexton saw a prostitute in my female version of the painting, the whole exhibition fell through. I had to move my exhibition in the culture house nearby.
right:200x160cm left:220x160cm Both done in oils.

Ordered a wacom intuos4 L Wide ^^ found a sweet deal for 280 euro's ($350) Cant wait to get my hands on it.
Got my Intuos4 L !! kinda happy i didn't go for the A3 because this thing fills up my desk.
a big improvement on the bamboo
happy as a child. here is a quick sketch to get the hang of things. Can anyone tell me how to pop-up the color picker under the mouse pointer? because movement from one to the other side of the screen takes alot of movement now.
some more fooling around with my new wacom and some brush&layer exploration.
I like your portrait paintings. Mad skills, man!
