Yay, the lizard! Such works of yours should be on the walls of hospitals to give sick kids (and adults) a nice big smile. I love it. It reminds me of two little girls in a bus station. One of them was like a perfect porcellain doll, the other wasn't nearly as beautiful but she was full with life, her mouth always smiled and that made her really cute and she made a biggest impact than the other one. This lizard surely isn't the most noble and beautiful of all (it looks fine and has cute spots though) but it's surely a unique looking one who's having fun. Not perfect beings are closer to most of us I think anyway.
Fantastic work here and it keeps getting better .

@ShiNIN - that's very sweet of you, and that would be such a lovely project, to paint in a hospital. And lizards are wonderful, underrated things. I had a gecko who would strut like this in true happiness, without a care. I want to be that gecko.
@Lost Shock - Thanks!
@SpaceJelly- Thanks, and definitely hitting some interesting ground recently... not what I particularly expected but am letting it play out and see where it leads, guess I don't have much choice, really!
I am so sleepy - this week has been so busy... however, have still been making time to work on a few pics in the evenings. Finished this tonight, just playing with more of an illustration style. I actually rather like the results, it was great fun to do.
She definitely needs a (much) bigger cranium. Her right shoulder and arm has odd anatomy too.
I have too fuzzy thoughts about the rest (I personally find the noisy blurryness a bit troubling and I can't really focus on the text because other parts require too much attention, maybe it's just me but I'm sure the composition could be better... But I don't know how).
improve on your anatomy a little more you have good studies just work on the anatomy
Everything is permitted
The wine girl has a nice feeling!
I like the blurriness in her dress, towards the writing
but I think that on her left(near the table), she need more defining and less blur
I enjoyed looking through u'r sketchbook! Seeing improvement [an incouragment
for newb like me ]
and some sweet characters!
U've got cool u'r style in characters(I actually wonder if this likeness resembles u hehe)
Thanks everyone - she does need some work, still playing with technique. Onto something different now!
Couple of ten minute sketches, quick watercolour that I am not so keen on - hard media to get the hang of! - and a zebra. Cos.
The front left leg of the zebra is too long and has an extra joint, it seems odd to me, other that that, I totally love it. Another funny thing, I instantly had a big smile. Your animals are irresistible
I like the kid too.
@ShiNIN - good minds think alike - I noticed that too straight after posting! You ask you get.... revised zebra below. Glad you like him.
New zebra, a quick sketch of Harley - to be coloured very soon! And a few sketchy bits. That's all I got today.
Found an old sketch of a character who wanted to be coloured, so I did. I also finished several pages of anatomy sketches, so I feel justified in drawing orange dinosaurs. Dragons. Things.
- and ignore the weblink for now. That is tomorrow's task, to get a site up and running.
I havn't left a comment in a while because I cant really crit anything as I rather like it and I just love your cartoons!!
Aruns cat it fabulous my mate you even seemed to get the cats expression of "oh god what happens now?" that they get when the kids get hold of them.
very well done indeed! I shall keep calling in and looking but dont be sad if I dont comment its just that its all good, okay!?
all the best as always.
A great kind hearted lumbering bullock
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=209918 = my Sketchbook
Yay! Fixed zebra, cool shark, lovable orange reptile/ancient bird thing (just the blurry tail seems odd. Normal, out of focus blur is different I think and it's too sudden, maybe. The other parts look damn good)!!!
The purplish monster is too sugary. You might try to draw a more dark cutie. I like them. I should draw them even if they won't be anywhere near your level for a long while.
@Lightship69 - hello you! And right back at you - I visit you regularly but can't always crit cos I like what I see. Glad you got the cat's expression of "ohdeargodwhatishedoing" - that is exactly what I was going for. Hope you and the family are doing well, and keep drawing!
@ShiNIN - sugar is good for you! and he is a hopeful character for a kids story, so we can't scare the kiddies... but I do have some darker ideas, don't worry.
"4 of Swords" - the Peke
Finished this a few minutes ago and I have to post it now or I will simply press the delete button. Had this one floating around for a couple of weeks now, restarted it twice, nearly deleted it more times than that. Tried a different style - mostly after looking at Stephanie Pui-Mun Law's work - to see if I could do something similar(ish) digitally. Turns out I can't, not yet - so had to save this somehow. Finished it, don't like it, learnt a lot.
My original "100 dogs" project has evolved into "Dog Tarot". I won't be putting a huge priority on it, as developing skills more important at this stage, but I thought a tarot might encourage me to be more inventive, and to draw background/story to the pics instead of just a dog being a dog. I did enjoy this one (kinda) so will keep going with this one... next idea is with the German shepherd.

Today is my one year anniversary on Conceptart!
It has been a great year, personally, and for art. It has been a busy year. I really feel as though I made a reasonable skip and a hop on the art side - although I could have worked much harder. Year 2 will be better.
When I first posted here, my intention was simply to get a bit better, have some fun, see if I could improve and get back into enjoying art. However, now I am wondering if I want to take this a lot further, to do it properly, to really become successful with it. Its a confusing feeling, but there really is nothing quite as inspiring and as motivational as this. I am certainly not in the position to do anything about these feelings yet - but lets see where the next 4/5 years take me.
I can't believe how much in love with art I am. I am finding a passion that I didn't feel even when I was considering doing this professionally, when I was young and not so jaded - even with my slow progress thanks to full time work and the usual albatrosses.
For my own records, I have just quickly thrown together a few pics - from my very first attempts last year to the picture I completed yesterday.
It's been fun so far!

Hi Ally. I really like your style, it reminds me of the work from friend of mine from college. I also like the humanbody life drawings. And thank you for stopping by, I'll stop by again soon
BEHOLD. You're about to witness us...
It doesn't seem as though CA is up and running 100% - a lot of my images are still missing, however I rather like the new layout!
I was a busy bee in the oh so long weeks CA was down, so will start to upload what I got up to;
1. Nekid girl, quickie sketch
2. Hona Sketch - old character of mine
3. Full body sketch of Hona
4. Dinosaur with lightsaber. Because.
5. An entry into my first COW - except clever me forgot about time differences yadda yadda and missed it. Probably a good thing, as I don't like this image much anymore but it was a great learning curve.
Great work here. those frog eating frog things are adorable.
@staal - Thanks! Glad you like; I cringe when I see the pic, but I like the critters themselves.
Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. Had a really good run, have a few pics to put up from last week, but decided to go back to drawing people again.... sigh. Sigh. Sigh!
Practice, practice, practice. Each one gets better, I suppose, however it is still very difficult for me. Going to start going to lifedrawing classes - can't hurt! This weekend all I shall be drawing are people, people, people.
1. From reference
2. From imagination. Getting better, I guess.
Quite excited - off to a Lifedrawing class, tomorrow - the first I have been to since high school, and I have never had the chance to attend a nude lifedrawing session before. Hope the other artists are gentle with me. Looking forwards to it. Only downside is it is a 3.5 hour class so my hands are going to hurt!
A few older bits from the lonely and cold weeks without DA...
1 & 2 - pic of a friend's character.
3. Quickie lifedrawing
4. Initial sketch of a character - going to rework this one.
@Spacejelly - thank you, I aim to please... plenty more cute on the horizon, I hope.
Went to my first nude lifedrawing session last night - Absolutely loved it and actually did rather well, I think. Couple of the senior members seemed quite pleased with what I produced. Will put a couple up here when I find my camera...
Canis Tarot - Two of Swords, symbolising partnership and balance, on a cautious but positive path. Alsatians play this role.
This was great fun to do. Many things I would change, but learnt a lot. Really like this one. On to the next!
Hi there! Thanks for the comment on my sketchbook ^^
I really like your art, some of it's just so cute! I don't see much to critique, but I think some of your drawings are a little too detailed? It kind of loses depth that way. In your picture with the two wolves/dogs, for example, some parts like the tails and the mushrooms are so well-focused and clear that they're a little distracting and almost look like they float out of the picture! I like what you did with the pictures of the two girls because their hair becomes fuzzy and less focused behind their heads. It's like a camera.. the most detailed part should be the focal point!
Your coloring is lovely, though. Keep up the good work! ^^
@letsgo - Thank you, and I know exactly what you mean. Will try and combat this, add it to the list of things to fix! It doesn't end...
Little monster design for a book idea : He starts out thin and sad and then eats lots of cake and becomes happy. There will be a morale to this story!
Random lifedrawing bits - referenced aside from the gal on the ground.
