finished another sketchbook. the first two drawings are the last two pages of
train ride book 4, then the last drawing is the first page of a bran-new SB
started this on the train and did more before i started my shift last nite.
WOW you're working your ass off haha. motivating stuff! keep that up, you're showing tons of improvement. like i said on the stream i think what would help most is to take more time on drawing. do some longer pencil studies and really try to make sure everything is in the right place, checking proportions and relations between different parts of the subject, etc. most of your figures are pretty solid but it shows a little bit on your portraits.
you're getting there man, keep working!
I love your anatomical studies. I can feel the movement by just looking at them. And I like how your background color is the same with this forum. It feels like you are drawing on this forum itself. You have a really good sketchbook here! Keep it up man!
Love the anatomy studies, especially everything in post #400.
With your portrait studies, it feels like you're just not taking quite enough time to double-check for proportional inaccuracies before moving into rendering, color, and texture. Break down the shapes into geometric forms and use straight edges to simplify the shapes and accurately copy them (marked in green), use plumb lines (straight vertical and horizontal lines) to compare the locations of key points and features and make sure they're lined up correctly (marked in blue), and use negative space (the empty space between stuff) to make sure the features are spaced accurately (marked in purple).
Hope that's helpful to you in some way, and keep up the good work!
Train ride sketches from the past few days also today's studies.
now i should do some mechanical stuff like cars and perspective.
I see sometimes mainstream media influences seeping into some of
my ideas and sketches, gotta find away around that . . . .
ended up throwing away a great deal of drawings in my frustration,
doing over time at work as well as me gots them final exams this coming week
and next week so im gonna stagnate again, its irritating, so here
are a few train ride sketches, and some drawings that survived my rage
by no means does it mean that they are any good.
speedy study before work, i actually attempted Feng Zhu's chaos to control
technique for a few landscapes but i realized, i don't have the skills to carry
them to his level so i ended up doing this instead, its a polish castle.
I like a lot your unfinished Mount Olympus training area.
You deal there very nicely with perspective - i always got a lot of troubles with perspective
+ characters looks pretty cool, and they standing on the ground nicely (what ain't easy with these kind of perspective). Cyclop hand movement works very nice. Piece definitely worth of finishing imo.
For works like last one, there is a old tip that my teacher was often repeating. "Build contrast by comparing cold\warm colors." Water image got a bit more cold colors, but i think you could use them even much much more for building contrast there.
