oh I'm so witty...
yea, so I need to do some actual design rather than just slap pretty colours around.
~ ~ Sketchbook of Junk ~ ~
Great topic, not sure I am going to have time but wanted to at least think about it.
Gloombunny and Eralfralos I love your takes on the theme and look forward to the trail of destruction.
My idea would be to use the mythology in the world of espionage and have Alice as a cia agent sent to assassinate the mad hatter... or something along those lines, more research needed first. If I have the time.
Nice subject, i love alice with the flamingo as weapon. Wish came up with that.
So here is my wip
the hand granate tag will say "throw me"
My Sketchbook http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=239346
-In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.-
Thought I'd have her riding a huge flamingo, rampaging through a victorian garden. Should I include the hedgehogs, too, I wonder?
@ LostCookie - I love how your sketch seems to emerge from the noise. Almost a bummer you have to finish it, I love it the way it is!
PS - remember she has to wear blue, gang!

Trying to see if I can do something that's dark and mature without going gothy and/or sexy. It's... proving to be a challenge. I'm taking inspiration more from the women's clothes and military uniforms of the later 1800s, but I'll have to try and get some more fantastic elements in here.
This Alice - pictured taking a scouting report from the Dormouse - is a rebel leader in the army of the White Rose, symbol of resistance to the Queen. I'm thinking I might have to change her hairstyle or remove the hairband because all I can see is Rose Lalonde. =|
This reminds me very much of the girl in the trailer for "Sucker Punch". I haven't seen the move (bad ratings), but at this point it's kind of hard to come up with something original - bad Alice has been around for over a decade now.

Meh... started some sketching, not sure if it's original enough to continue. I think i'm gonna sleep on it and see what i think tomorrow. Crits very welcome.
Check out my artwork at www.candlephoenix.com
Alice rides on a chershire cat, fat blade at her side, ready to command. Also. she is strangely sexy. why not, I figure she left once and came back a teen, now she's back again and a babe?
So this is my first post and first drawing after years of watching this wonderful site! I'm a little stuck on the chesire cate, because I may just make it a smokey set of eyes behind her instead of the moon, but feedback is appreciated!
The two swirls are the horns of the jabberwocky and the pelt of the once white rabbit is around her shoulder and back, as apart of her outfit. the top will fade to sheer up to the neck. And the watch is her centerpiece/buckle. Jabberteeth with be in there somewhere.

I think this is as far as I can push it tonight. Anybody have tips for making the colours/saturation look less... boring, I guess... without losing the misty, nighttime mood? I tend to do bright, high-saturation, high-contrast stuff most of the time, and this just looks so wrong to me. Also, once more managed to lose any dynamism of the original sketch. Aaaaargh.
elhero - That's pretty awesome. The one thing I'm not quite buying is the position of the sword. It's hard to tell at this point in the sketch, but if it's being held the way I think it is, I'm not sure her wrist could handle it. Is there something else holding it up?
CandlePhoenix - Fabulously sinister cheshire cat. Watch Alice's face, though. Her eyes are angled completely against the tilt of her head. Also, dynamic as that pose is, I think her legs are angled a liiiiiittle too far to the right. Especially with that sword arm, she's about to tip over.
Mr Gadbury - Don't forget the blue! That aside, I don't think it's a boring concept at all; it's actually fairly unique. I love the shape of those boots. The gesture's feeling a little off, though. With her helmet (?) balanced on her hip like that, it would be thrust out a bit in that direction. The left arm is much longer than the right, and the whole thing feels like it's tilting a bit to the right.
Rinibee - I love basically everything about this. Only thing is that I'm not really convinced she's got a hold on that chess piece.
Lostcookie - Oh man, your style is gorgeous. Really love the direction of the top and pants. Just make sure when you get past the roughs you're not cutting her off at the ankles; it's an awkward spot.
DecayingLolita - That's a super intense expression, awesome. Great pose and interesting clothes, but the Aliceness isn't quite there yet. (Hah, like I can talk.) The warrior part, too - she may have killed somebody, but she doesn't look like much of a fighter, exactly. Also, the anatomy's pretty good until you get to the ankles or so, and then it falls apart; both the angle and shape of the feet look off, not to mention the size. Remember, a foot's the length of your forearm, bit longer than that with boots on. (Actually, I can't tell if she's wearing shoes or just the stockings?)
Rachel Pierce - By far my favourite composition so far. It just feels so stompy.
SuadK - Alice via Sin City? Her outfit doesn't look particularly comfortable, but it's certainly interesting. =) Open up the bottom of the composition a bit; it's super awkward having her feet right on the bottom like that. You might also want to reshade her face. It looks very squished and squared off. Not sure why the cheeks are brightly lit on the side where all the other forms (her legs for example) are darker on the sides.
Please please ignore the ratings and watch the film! I've read a load of bad reviews and the problems they have with the film are ridiculous! Its as though they watched part of the film, fell asleep, watched a few more seconds, fell asleep again then woke up for the last sequence, decided they didn't get it and it was just young women prancing around in sexy costumes and gone on a rant.
The film is stunning in every aspect and beautifully executed.
Sorry, little rant over. It's just that the reception of this film by critics really annoys me and there issues are totally unfounded. If the film had had a male cast, they would have loved it
Thats a damn good CHOW.
Well, since I wasn't doing anything valuable today I drew a little bit. I don`t know if I'll manage to finish anything for the end of this week, as usual, but... who knows...
I thought about something like Drew Struzan.
I know, I know, there are only 3 characters here, but it would be impossible to paint all of them in just one week.
Anyway, I think this is gonna be that kind of CHOW that attracts lots of the skilled guys. I am already seeing amazing works coming in.
@kahboom: Thanks love!
@Revidescent: haha yeah, im working full time this week so i was like *sketchsketchsketch* before i had to go to bed which resulted in bad planning which will take more time to fix in ps 'A'. They won't be missing though, no wirries!
going to be late for work ....
wanted ti to stick more with the disney alice feel with a good ol English touch...i think :cccc
So many great concepts. I'm begining to feel the heat *A* Still so much work to do!
Hey guys! Great stuff so far! This is my first CHOW! This is a quick sketch I came up with. Tell me what you think!
What an awesome topic! If I get a moment I'll defo have a go
Hey this is fun
I reckon if she was going to go back then the ideal weapon would be a flame thrower... whooshka!
WIP (Should these be attachments or hosted?)

here's my WIP. Still having a hard time with her face and facial expression.
A days work.
...man i must be slow with digital drawing or people on this forum mustn't have jobs, lol. How do you find the time??
no references for the pose and figure were used so critiques/feedback are welcome.
Rough sketches, trying a new workflow now.
