So I've been trying to get into digital painting more. I have a wacom intuos4 medium and photoshop cs5 as well as painter. Right now I am trying to tackle photoshop.
Basically my questions relate to color palette selection. I'm not sure how appropriate it is to do this but I've seen several different ways artists get their works full of colour so I'm trying to be concise in what I'm asking. I found a thread:
If you scroll down to where she has her colour selections. I'm not sure how she gets from her original midtone she selected to the other ones. She says she uses the colour balance tool... but how exactlly do we get the tones? I guess I'm wondering if there is some form of recipe to follow to choose palettes for my paintings. There are so many functions I am getting a little confused.
Anyways, if anyone can offer any advice, I'd love you forever.
Thanks in advance
I'm not sure there really can be a "recipe" for choosing a palette since you're going to have completely different palettes if you paint an octopus mermaid with one day and a vampire in a gloomy castle the next day. The only rule is that it all has to hang together somehow.
