[ So, this is not a messy, gory, autopsy-type of appearance... ]
[ ...Rather, it's a tool for instruction: cleanly cutting a three-dimensional window into the creature, revealing various layers of biology in order to improve our overall understanding of how it all fits together. ]
[ An oblique orientation (three-quarter view) tends to work best for this sort of thing. ]
Creature • CUT-AWAY DIAGRAM REVEALS ANATOMICAL DETAIL OF OTHERWORLD DENIZEN

The word ‘anarchy’ comes from the ancient Greek αναρχία in which αν meant ‘without’ and αρχία meant first a military ‘leader’ and then ‘ruler’. Anarchist society is one ‘without rulers’: a classless, non-hierarchical society.

Beautiful topic, i had a grotesque fascination with Images of Kaiju anatomy since i was a child, so that's where i got my inspiration. I'm hoping this gets be back into the DSG swing of things. I don't utilize these activities often enough. Hope y'all like it!

I really hope these aren't too big ~ anyway hello again.
Was going to do two of the earlier ones but kind of phased those out - for the same reason as with this as I spent my allotted time on parts of the whole, in this case on the creature without the cut-away - so doing the cut-away got a bit on top of what I had planned and as such also rushed - but anyway.

whooo great stuff so far everyone.
Fantastic guys! It never ceases to amaze me when I open a DSG thread to see the depth and breadth of styles represented.
Camel– I love the look and feel of the Renaissance man's sketchbook, feels super natural and not overworked.
Austen– Really dig the pulp feel
Dan– Amazing stuff, I love the concept, it's like a much cooler design of the Zerg from Starcraft. I like how you selectively cut away areas to reveal anatomy, it's a much more interesting take on the classic biology textbook 1/2 or 3/4 cutaway. Did you paint the outer body first then go over to reveal the details?
"Never fall in love with an idea. They're whores: if the one you're with isn't doing the job, there's always, always, always another."
- Winter Sorbeck (The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd)
dagreengo yes I painted the normal version before the cutaway version. The later was rather rushed but liked parts - and dunno about it and the zerg, but thanks
j.s. sabastian what ever you feel like - don't see it as a competition or that you have to top anyone else. & thanks.
