This one goes with the red one in a previous post.
Happy page two. :3
lovely ). girly lovely but still, lovely
@DariusDs; thanks! that's how the person wanted it so yay > u<'
they have like..femboy characters haha.
More gestures. c:
I'm a little hesitant to try full figure drawing, dunno why.
Aaaa been busy so not a lot of updates! I actually have a few studies I'd promised myself I'd do, but here's some progress pictures until then.
Her arms are a bit short on purpose. c:
AAAA I've gotten into the bad habit of making everything SHINYDESU ohgod''
Thanks for the visit! I think I'll critique here.
About motivation, you should have a folder or bookmark in your browser of your favorite artists, so whenever you feel uninspired, you look at that folder or that bookmark
Keep up your gesture studies! Utilize line of action and learn the shapes of the bodies of different animals. You should also consider building your knowledge of variety in the faces of humans.
Your colors are pretty good too, but your lighting can seem a bit ambiguous. You should learn how light works!
Keep working on learning anatomy and establishing environments
Please feel free to criticize my work
I like your work vella. post more.
Thank you both! And muchly tintan for the critiques!
Hopefully doing some studies will help me with lighting...it's always been a problem area for me.
I've been busy, but I'm going to start working on my basics again, I think it'd help a lot. :3
But for now, I've been watching Matt's videos on ctrlpaint and they've been very entertaining and full of stuff to learn.
I've been doing his 101 exercises to get used to photoshop, and I have to say taking the time to get used to the shortcuts really helps. Anyway, I've done a value scale before with actual paint, so I tried out his digital painting value scale with only using the shortcuts.
Image of before and after getting critique.
Before is on the left...I think one of my problems is I'm afraid of dark darks and light lights. ^^'
Hopefully I can start my still life today and get a wip up on that so I can get some feedback! :3
Hrm, I'm having this weird problem with photoshop. I've got my pen set to pen pressure being on, but every third stroke or so it glitches and blobs it on as if I were using a mouse. :c
Anyone heard of this problem/know how to fix it?
Hi! Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook, I'm glad I checked this out - you have a great sense of design and line handling, some great paintings so far in your sketchbook! I'd love to see some more attempts at landscapes, you just need to work on your values and edges on yours at the moment.
Snow is very difficult because the easy way to have a convincing value structure in an environment is dark things up close, dimming to the environment colour as they fade into the environment - not easily done in a totally white landscape.
As for the pressure problem, those kinda bugs are sadly pretty common but usually it's just a case of installing a newer (or sometimes) older driver for your tablet from Wacom. The apple looks good though, now really challenge yourself and paint it from life! Are you doing it from this? If not, fantastic link.
Will definitely be sticking around to watch your progress, keep it up!
edit: you updated just as i was typing, looks good
@tehmeh; thanks for stopping by! : D
And for the landscape and tablet advice...I'll try installing an older driver and see what happens. ^^
Oh, I didn't even see that thread!
I've been watching ctrlpaint's videos...I love the way he does them, they're super easy to digest and understand.
Haha, I want to paint a part of my desk from life, but it's a bit cluttered and complicated so I just internet'd an apple to get myself started. I haven't really sat down and -painted- in PS, other than those landscapes in SAI, so I wanted to see if I could do it first. :3
Next I'll do this pot on my table I think~
Hey there, i demand more ponies and still lives, maybe mix them together and get some pony toys to paint from life?

Nettle, you are a genius.
I actually have all the ponies too. OTL'
@Inspector; thanks! :3
Haha tried to enter the COW for this week but didn't finish. xD
There's always next week!
This was a fun experiment for me, and I learned a great lesson: why studies are important rofl.
Also kept my mind off something that happened, part of the reason why I didn't finish. But I'm glad I've found more confidence now, it really helped me out with said event.
It goes with this song.
Still have to animate the swag faces xD'
Then color oommmggggg animation is so hard.
Ung...first thing I've draw in days. . _.
How do you draw when you don't feel like it? Force yourself?
Anyway, two creature designs for the CoW this week, but since I'm just doing them for fun and not planning on finishing, just posting them here instead of their wips thread. Was focusing on how....nonsensical dreams are haha.
"How do you draw when you don't feel like it? Force yourself?"
I would advice against forcing yourself (only do it if your under a commission or something), it will probably make you depress when your drawings don't work out the way you want. Look what others do maybe you'll find some inspiration, and besides take your time. But, at least, try to finish the Cows and Chows, people tend to rate and critic them. So, you will probably learn a lot.
Anyway, Nice sketchbook! I love the colors, they really pop!
Also, as promised, still life and ponies. :3
Obviously still a wip.
@Flash; Thanks a lot!
I was thinking about going through threads...that always makes me want to draw, haha.
Long time no post!
Shame on me! ; 0;
Here's something I've started doing for fun...might post it in the critiques section but then I'm partially scared they'll tell me to gtfo and do some studies, haha.
I know I need to do studies, but I'm really just doing this to test myself...though I am using refs. > u<b
/edit ( added the second pic )
I flipped it and it's all CROOKED aaa darn you slightly slanty right ness.
I do that all the time ;;

LAST UPDATE FOR TODAY even if I get more done.
Next time I'll wait until the end of the day. v____v''''
But yes, one of my friends gave me very useful critique. I need to look up sunbeam refs idk wtf it's trying to be in the background. orz''
I'm almost to the point I'm comfortable with it...then I'll post it in the critiques subforum before I start adding color/refining/working on the deino.
Heya, I saw your avatar and thought you were familiar >:0
I'm Elz on VPL, haha.
You're making awesome progress so far, I love your creature sketches a few posts above. :3
As for drawing when you dont feel like it, try to break out of it first. Go out, do something with friends, enjoy life a little and then doodle stuf. It'll come back to you. I struggle with it a lot. D:
But yeh, keep posting!
nice strong style
Oh wow, hello Elz~ 8DD
Awesome that you're here too. ; u;b
Thank you andres!
Here's a pony I'm doing for fun. :, D
Usually when I paint I always do grayscale > color since it's easier...but I wanted to give just slapping on colors a try. :3
I MIGHT ACTUALLY FINISH THIS ONE.
-knocks on wood-
Yaay I finished! And now I'm done for the day. Posting wise at least~
I realllyyy want to try painting a figure now, this made me a lot more comfortable with painting in color. :, D
I'm loving that red horse/my little pony thing! Your coloring is very colorful and fluid.
I can't color for crap, so I must ask - What tool do you most use for coloring your colored works?
My Gallery ->http://cricketto.deviantart.com/
"Wolly Olly Ump Frump BUMP!"
@Cricketto; Thank you ; u;'' I always feel like I'm struggling with colors for some reason, haha~
Usually it depends. For quick simple animu-ish things I go with multiply, then airbrush over from dark purple to light yellow. For that last painting I used the SAI brush tool set to "middle flat" then just uber saturated the colors.
The most useful thing I've learned is that as you mix colors they become less saturated, so if you pick colors to start and keep them saturated, bit makes a nice even outcome. :3
Here's something I'm working on and off on...haha more ponies! I find them simple enough to paint that I can play around without things being overly complicated. I've been painting then switching to grayscale to double check and push my values, then painting again in color. More of a vent piece so it's going very slowly.
Once again I forgot to resize my sketch a bit larger, so this is full-size. Dx'
