Great sketchbook. Talent is nothing, hard work is everything - I wish I'd known that a long time ago. Looks like you have that figured out.
One piece of advice - lay off the soft brushes. Look at the world around you and pay more attention to edges. Keep at it, those hand studies are sooo good.
I agree. the rhinos are sweeet
and the eye with the sword man...nice.
You have those nice bust studies on the first page and if I'm correct they're reffed. I'm wondering if you still remember where you got the reference pictures because I would love to get my hands on them and do some good 'ol studying. Keep it up, man !

MY SKETCHBOOK, COMMENT & CRITIC THE SHIT OUT OF ME
your line are neat and effective
Nice studies and stuff, keep it up.
As a little crit for the dragon eye with the sword reflection: Reflections tend to get weaker if you view them straight on. So it would probably look a bit more realistic if you made the reflection of the sword in the middle of the eye more transparent than towards the edges. Dark reflections will disappear quicker than other ones, so we'd still see more of the highlights on the sword and eye. Remember that specular high lights are also just reflections of bright lights. So the specular high light on the eye will also be a reflection of something in the environment, just like the sword.
Cabbage Caterpillar: Haha thanks man, but I'm a slacker..I should be doing so much more.
midknight523: Thank you very much, colour is something I struggle with so I'm glad you like them! ^_^
lenzerwin: Thanks a lot man, it's an honour having you stop by. You're right, the soft brush is such a crutch for me. I unfortunately haven't done much digital since your comment...but I'm certainly going to try and apply it from now on.
PITCHBLACK: Thanks dude!
ozark: Thanks a lot, I actually just redid these studies so I have the refs haha Weird coincidence. Here's the link: philippefaraut.com. The site wasn't loading when I went to grab the link, but it should work. Good luck and happy studying!
Rano: Thank you, linework like most everything is something I struggle with, so I'm happy you find it effective. ^_^
tobbA: Thank you and yeah you're very right. It was an interesting piece, there were a lot of variables and most of them I really didn't consider.
Anyway, it seems like we're back to being a stable site, here's the stuff from the past 3 weeks...it's really amazing how little I can do in 3 weeks. GAH I gotta work harder.
oh my god @__@ your work is epic xD Did the studies help you draw accurate anatomy from memory? Also how did you get the clean edges in your digital painting? I like it!
O M G!!! You know how to sketch man!!! Very impressive! Love it!
Hey, thought id' drop by.
Your studies are looking great. I think it would help you a lot if you tried to finish some more pieces digitally. I know it's hard, I'm also tryign to break trough that barrier right now.
Otherwise gj, keep up the good work.
A creative artist works on his next composition because he is not satisfied with his previous one. When he loses a critical attitude toward his own work, he ceases to be an artist. - Dmitri Shostakovich
Post #608. those are lot of studies *jawdrop*. Damn. Keep up the hard work! And you will go far!
i think you dont need any help!! lool
Great update man, cheers!

You and only you, with your own sincere self-discipline, and effort, can make yourself an artist.
I should be back with another update later today!
that'll do hey lol, great tone studies at the start there, I also enjoyed you pose studies, reminds me a lot of bumskee (Min Yum's) work. Keep it up though doing great stuff here, don't be too hard on yourself
Hi there psychobuddy. Nice work with this sketchbook! I wanted to say I'm also a design student who would rather be an illustrator especially in videogame industry. I'll be passing by soon to check you out again!
BEHOLD. You're about to witness us...
super hardwork m8 really inspiring keep at it
kaikaisushi: Hey, yeah the anatomy really helps, and for the most part I can draw "accurate" anatomy if I want too, but in my mind there's a difference between accurate and good. Accurate is when you know things are generally in the right place, good is when well it's good and everything feels just right.
kevin_: Thanks man, always great to hear kind words from you!
Joe777k7: Haha hey man, thanks for the compliments! Actually been drifting away from the pencils again...digital holds my heart for now XD
Greenhouse: Ehe thanks a lot!
Tea of Doom: You're totally right, I really need to push things to a higher level of finish, I know it'd really help my confidence as well as skill.
Staal Sander: Thank you very much, I'm trying to get back into my old level of work, keeping that up was effecting my body though, so I need to find a healthy medium.
Gpozzo: Thanks man!
johnny24: Aha actually I could use all the help in the world XD
eclip-se: Thanks dude, it's good to be back!
Christop55her: You say that, but were you. @_@ Weird post is weird
Jeremy Swan: AHHHH you caught on to the Bumskee influence, I was bouncing back between Min's stuff nad photos and my own head for those, a lot of Mins shone through
Lagarto: Thank you very much!
Dave'sWarmInsides: Awesome man, glad to know I'm not alone! I'm looking forward to checking your stuff out.
Flashback: Here it is, been knocked on my ass for a bit. Sorry about the disappearing act.
dimi: Thanks a ton, I'm gonna try!
Hey everyone, damn it's been awhile, sorry about that, Right after my last post I got really sick and I was down for about a week...then this week I've been struggling to try and get back into it. Aha I guess that my excuse for so little work...I'm certain I did more I guess I dunno maybe I didn't, I probably didn't...but yeah hopefully everyone enjoys. Just the standard boring heads and figures, I'm starting a new thing for October though, I'm trying to do 1 skull study a day for the month, so at the end I'm gonna have 31. Seems like a cool goal to me ^_^ The knight dude, is Nightmare when I was younger I loved Soul Calibur, and I have no problem with Nightmares design I wanted to see what it would be like if he was slimmed down some. Erm I think I'm failing at it.
EDIT: ERG IT BROKE MY LINKS...woops didn't mean caps...let's try this again.
That skull a day project sounds like a great idea. I'll go and think of something like that for me as well.
The warrior in #624 looks great, but I'm not too sure about the background color in combination with
the red... the light situation looks pretty cool though!
Keep up those head and anatomy sketches as well!
Holy crap man, tons of quantity and quality. Keep it up!
Hey gangster, you hit up my sketchfeed so I dropped on in. keep pushing man, you got this. I would take one of those value studies and spend a mess of time on it. Set up a still life with lights that dont move and spend a few days to a week just getting into the all the subtle nuance. If you can...and this is a bummer, try to do a cast drawing. Its like auto level up on value control. msg me if you're interested and I can let you know where to look for how to do one. Best of luck.
Eternal Apprentice: ^_^ Hey thanks man! I'm still working away.
Lyraina: Thank you a lot, it's a good project, I can feel it paying off so much. Yeah you're right, I never really noticed the background....hmmmm maybe I'll change it.
Pundt: Haha, thanks man!
ConCrete: Dude I wish, I had the time for what you're talking about, maybe one day. I really really hope so.
Uhm here's me being lazy with my updates I guess...this stuff is lame...yeah...meh.
lots of hard work here looking good, like your digital studies like your vibrant colours maybe just watch ur edges a bit
Great Studies you have there!
Like your blocky approach to anatomy, these sketches will give me inspiration for months!
