I love conceptart...having a post that says 'congrats tomato' to start a new page. classic. No clue what yer on about but it made me laugh. We must meet up soon, moll. Meant to this week, but im moving house and getting a car and now soon changing jobs as well. lifes in a turmoil! Bit o the old shake up.
When are you moving house kim. need a hand??
on the 16th of next month. I might just need a hand! Not sure yet.
Anyone around need a nice 19" CRT monitor BTW.... I would hate to leave it behind gathering dust in an attic!
Hey Kim, where you moving too??? And your getting a car??? Jeeez, thats gona cost you mate
We should meet up - real soon, but NOT SoHo man - pleeease not SoHo...
How about Brick Lane? I've been working down there with a small production company called BigRedButton, that Trev recommended me too. we're right above the bar 93 Feet East, which comes alive every evening.
I love Brick Lane. The cafes and bars are so cool, wireless internet in a few of them, cool resturants, beigel shops etc etc... If I could live there, I would move tomorrow...does anyone want a room mate? move east, and I may join you! hahaha - no, seriously
If CA.org had a workshop in London, the Truman Brewery would be THE perfect place for it. Its got plenty of floors for demos and its surrounded by cool places to hang out (esp Cafe 1001). The reason they wont come here, is because its 'expensive' ...... (and SF wasnt?) anyhoo, if I had the dough, I'd organise it myself.... head East people!
We dont even need to host it under a CA banner anymores
. More like digital artist unite!!!
hey molly Im moving to Marlebone... and im getting the car from my bro. Insurance will cost though! As for a meet up, especially once im central, brick lane would be cool! We can draw ppl in cafe's and stuff.
Mr Man : Can you come fetch it from southfields, london before the 16th of june? 35 pounds sound ok? I think we might have another housemate's 19" as well.... will ask him.
I use a glorified notepad, called Allaire homesite (now called Macromedia homesite) but it is not a WYSIWYG html editor
fran what are you using at the moment?you tried dreamweaver?fairly easy, and limits the amount of html code you need to know.
eyy up peeps. I just discovered this thread. Its nice to see that fellow UK CAers meet up once in a while. These ca gatherings sound like a good laugh. I wouldnt mind joining in the next UK meet.
'Iam what Iam' - Popeye The Sailor Man
- random off-the-topic - RANT
but I hear on the news that the parents of missing child Madeline, have gone now and visited the Pope. Forgive me for saying this, but WTF? How much coverage are these two people getting? In the first place, what the hell where they doing leaving their child ALONE in a villa, and secondly, how many OTHER parents (from the UK or indeed the World) are gonna get the same coverage as them? If they were black, their parenting skills would be questioned; white, as we see already, plenty of media coverage and government help. I sympathise - dont get me wrong, it must be awful for them to have their child kidnapped...but...they've gone to see the Pope? WTF is the Pope going to do? If the kidnapper is in anyway a typical Catholic, then hopefully guilt will set in and they would return the child, but, apart from the Pope visiting the place where she was taken, I dont see what impact its going to make on the safe return of Madeline.
I wonder how many other parents in the World are missing their children, and if they are been given the same attention as these two who left her alone in the first place. I apologise for my rant about this case, and possible lack of knowledge - and I do hope Madelines found safe - but jeeeeeez, the whole coverage of this case kinda makes me sick....
Also, if gangsta/hiphop rappers hate G-a-y people, then why say 'come suck my dick' as a lyric in their tune? It doesnt make sense. Eminem's done it a few times, and well - what the fuck is he trying to say? that hes a closet gay - what? Also, apparently, a British platoon found out one of their troop was homosexual, so they pinned him down and raped him..WTF? The British Army have truly scraped the barrel when recruiting for the front line... to think we're sending THEM out to Iraq to represent the British people....tsk tsk
One last rant....I duno if you lot have seen it, (and I dare not post this in the Lounge in response) But a ca.org mod has posted a thread about CA.org members NOT buying the Girls Calender, and ranting that we should all support the Girls etc etc.... Its not fair to force, or make members feel guilty for not buying the Calender. Its a great achievement, dont get me wrong, but IMO, I kinda understand people NOT running out to buy one. The Calender has no 'Rock Star' professionals in it, therefore fanboys are not going to bother buying it. Secondly, its 'alright'. Its not AMAZING, its alright. If my opinion is wrong then fair enough,(I have a piece in there too, and IMO, its OK, not amazing) If the Calender was of the best from Last Man Standing, then I figure THAT would make a better sell than the 'Girlie Calender'.
Everything, and everyone is annoying me today. I have a murderous toothache. The co-codamal the doctor gave me is not working.
Good rant Molly! It's rare that someone goes off on one and I agree with most of their points.
The Madeline thing is weird. My Dad noticed one piece of footage a few weeks back where the parents were walking out of a church laughing, then realised a camera was on them and suddenly put on very solemn faces. I agree about the coverage too, all the people in the world who have someone missing in their lives through no fault of their own and 2 morons who left 3 children ON THEIR OWN for over 2 hours to have a meal get this much support, it's just not fair. I hope the girl is okay, but this should be a lesson to parents everywhere that your life and priorities change when you have kids, you are no longer the most important thing in your life, your kids are. Trying to go for a meal for 2+ hours is not a luxury you have any more!
The male rape thing is bizarre, but very common. When I used to live in Swindon, there was a park that became well known as a gay meeting place so a group of anti-gay people would wait for one of the guys to appear and then gang-rape them! Happened almost nightly for around 2 weeks! In fact, one night during that time I stupidly walked home by myself from a club taking a road adjacent from the park and got chased by a car, fortunately I'm quite the good runner and made it back to the club where I got a lift home instead.
Agree with the calendar thing too. It's good, but not amazing. The guilt trip/subtle threat isn't exactly fair...
I agree with everything there. I don't think i've seen any negative press towards the parents about leaving her in the room.
Sounds bad Dave.. I live about 20 minutes from Swindon and have always heard dodgy stuff about it.

Hey Molly I agree with you 110% about the kidnapped child thing. They are fussing over it too much now, its almost as if the parents are getting some kind of royaltie. How many other parents with lost, or dying children etc get to visit the pope... Its not like this is a new thing either.
One thing my mum always moans about is you hear these stories going on and on, then all of a sudden theres a big pause and you dont hear anything at all after that, not even a reminder.
.. One point though. I have noticed in South Africa that is someone is mugged, everyone always asks 'where were you, what on earth were you doing THERE alone at night' Even if its just down the road from your house. You are blamed for putting yourself in a situation where you could be mugged... but it is still someone elses fault for mugging you!!!
Same with the child... I dont condone leaving children alone left right and centre, but gimme a break, being a parent is hard work. I was left alone on occasion and I dont see my parents as bad. I really dont think that much blame should be put on 'bad parenting'... its still the fault of some sick bastard..NOT the parents. If we fear and fear and fear everything, our children will be stifled and miserable.
That said, I hope someone finds the guy and nails him by his knees to a wall.
yAdam: Yeah, Swindon's generally bad news, I was really glad to move out of it last year! Where do you live btw? I now live in a lovely small village called Ramsbury (it's a lot like the shire from LOTR!) which is about 20 minutes from Swindon...
Kim: Don't get me wrong, I don't think parents should be there every second, and you're absolutely right about it being the kidnappers fault, I just think, even ignoring kidnapping, leaving 3 kids-the eldest of which is almost 4 - unattended in a hotel in a foreign country for over an hour is a bad idea, there are just so many things that could go wrong.
PS, love the sultry girl in your sb mate! Very nice!
Molly Ye i totally agree with you. I also think there is some thing sinister with the whole scenario there is some thing that we havnt been told. I cant put my finger on it.
Any ways I hope they find the missing kid 'pronto'!
Lefran Yeah a North meet sounds cool. It would be far more accessible for us northeners and on the plus side, some of my mates who are also from preston and fello CAers, who iam sure would like to participate.
'Iam what Iam' - Popeye The Sailor Man
My mum'd fuck off to France for a fortnight at a time, leaving me, 11ish and my sister 13 or thereabouts to fend for ourselves. Family friends would pop over every couple of days to see how we were doing. That was back in the day when there wasn't this disproportianate fear of paedos we have today. When kids could play out, without their mums and dads fretting at home.
Northern meet interest seems to be gathering steam now. Quite a few "dude, I'm sooo there" attendees in the pipeline.

.....now they have an advert on TV, like its a charity or sumink.....
Anyhoo, back 'art' and all that. Theres a few Grad exhibits daaan Brick Lane this weekend, theres a Star Wars thing in the ExCel Center in a coupla weeks, and Adobe are having a thing at the Business Design Centre soon too. Dunno WHY Im telling yers, ya probly already know.... Oh, yeah, what crossed my mind was "Wouldnt it be cool if WE had a 'Digital Artists' show?" Like Koshime said, we dont need the CA banner to represent us. Theres PLENTY talent in here that we can get on board to submit work etc etc. I know we've spoken about this before, but the idea is STILL floating above our heads, and we should somehow reign it in and deal with it. I also just want a show because I've only ever been in ONE in my whole life, and that was in 1999...and it wasnt very good....infact it was crap.....
think about it guys
BTW - if you guys EVER get a broken tooth, or have an open cavity, go to the dentist NOW. I ignored it, and now I have a narsty infection in my...'jaw' and I'm on antibiotics and uber pain killers. Dont get me wrong, the pain killers are awesome....but the pain is excrutiating! Its like someones got an ice pick and ramming it into my ear every now and then....Suppose I shouldnt have left my tooth alone eh? eh? get it? eh? HAHAHAHAHA aaaaah nevermind
Soooo...... Northen meet - "dood, Im SO there..." innit
EDIT: does anyone here listen to XFM? I requested a tune yesterday and it cheered me up sumink chronic I was gona request a tune for someone here, but not sure if they tuned in...

can you find a local dentist. one that doesnt charge you an arm, leg and your fridge. let me know....
I wouldn't mind submitting something for a show Molly. Organising it, on the other hand, is something I'd be awful at. If you did get something going, I could probably get it promoted in Advanced Photoshop magazine...
