do you have the dates set? I used to house CAers because i'm all trusting and all. I'd offer my couch, but November looks like a busy month for me. I'm never home anyways. And i may be going out of town around Thanksgiving time (nov 24th-28th)
you can try a Hostel. Emily G stayed at a hostel not too far from me on the Upper West Side. She did say it was kinda a rat-hole, but it was also $35 a night.
A friend of mine stayed at a Hostel around times square at $45 per night, and it didn't look too bad.
This Saturday November 4th, at 6:00 PM 55 Mercer Gallery (http://55mercergallery.com/) in NYC will be having its openning reception for the uber-talented Melissa Ferreira (http://melissaferreira.net/index.html). Melissa will be there along with her husband (some guy named Jon Foster, people tell me he's famous). I'll be there too, and so should you.
that gallery show looks like fun!
Probably should have posted about this earlier, but it slipped my mind. Too much caffeine not enough sleep. Dr. Sketchy's is this Saturday November the 4th from 3- 6 pm atThe Lucky Cat Lounge. We've got Lady J returning dressed up as a mexican . Should be tons of fun. Also, The Dr. Sketchy's Rainy Day colouring book is now available for pre-order at the Dr. Sketchy's Website. It goes into detail about what Sketchy's is, and is a great guide on how to start your own sketch group full of burlesque dancers.
Hope some of you guys will be able to attend!
taste my dirty happiness!
Dudes, I actually had to scroll down to find the NY thread. Terrible!
The Society has it's biennial 3D show opening:
Thursday, December 7th.
5:30 - 8:00
Melissa Ferreira and Red Nose Studio are in the show. Those two, alone, are worth coming out for.
Arkady -- If you see the show - We need to look out for good ways to exhibit the 3D work in the next Spectrum show.
i've been meaning to ressurect this thread.
SUBWAY SKETCH GROUP REUNION SATURDAY DEC. 2ND AT THE MET!!!!!
December 2nd was supposed to be my show at Ironworks but that was canceled. A lot of friends promised to come out for the show. I'll be there around 1:00PM.
Dave Palumbo said he'd come up. Scott Altmann said he'll try to come out after 4:00. Cam is coming.
Irene - i'll bug Jeff and Dave to let me in on their 3D displaying secrets

Graphic and Interactive Communication Major at Ringling
Hope the recent get together went well. I would love to have attended, but I had to work (retail this time of year is a triathalon).
Anyways, I will relocate back to the New York metropolitan area very soon, and I thought I would post here to see if you peeps had any knowledge of any available jobs or apartments (would consider sublet and room-mate). Send info to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Either way, I'll be back around in a matter of a few weeks. Thanks and see you soon.

whats the opening for Arkady?
The Sequential Category of the annual. At first I thought James Jean would be there because he's one of the Judges, but chanses are that he won't fly out from Cali for this. But it should be pretty rocking anyways. If i'm able to sneak out of work for Lunch on Monday i'll stop by the SoI and check out how the hanging is going and give you my full report.
dope Arkady... let me know what the cover and such is going to be... I havent been out for anything in a while and should def. make an effort to... not to mention the SOI jazz nights
Arkady- You beat me to this..
Free drinks, free cheese, and free art. I'll be there!
I might go for the art if not for the cheese.
Odd Nerdrum sh ow at the Forum:
thanks for the info on that exhibit Irene.. Im def. going to chck that one out..
So do you guys and girls have a regular sketch group in NYC or what? I would def come down and hang with you people. I need to get out of my studo more this year ; )
The sketchgroup has been dead for a while now. But we're planning a HUGE reunion/painting in the park party/picnic sometime in April/May.
but if you want something sooner, there's the NYC ComicCon this weekend, and FRIDAY FEB. 23rd HUGE Opening at the SoI. it's $30 to get in, which i know may be steep. But it's worth every penny if you're serious about illustration as a career. Networking GOLD.
Yay! The ice is melting. It's almost time to come out of hibernation. I got a French easel so I don't have to paint on the ground.
Networking is only gold if you talk to people.
I would like to go painting in the park if the sketchgroup revives. It sort of died before I got the chance to join.
I'm trying to learn gouache.
