Man I haven't posted in a long while. I thought I'd join in the fun and start a new sketchbook. Here's a starter dump from the last few weeks.

hey jeff it has been a while. good to see u still going at it!
i love your life drawings. keep posting!
love that bird sketch, man. you should pursue that drawing even more.
I'd like to credit my success to all my failures in life. Without failures, success would not taste as good.
Thanks for the encouragement, endregan. Glad you like my stuff.
Blindtheif...maybe I'll do just that, thanks.
Here's a couple more pages.
heres a page of reptiles from a google search (it's fun to do ref'd sketches after you try the same thing without ref, you learn a lot)...
...and some life drawings from today.
some gestures i did while watching baseball.
jeffy good worko
good creatures something i have to work more on!
thanks bud, here's another for ya.
want to see what u been up to !!
here's a few more.
some more baseball gestures.
page inspired by lungbug's last post.
dark cowboy (?) for the DSG
I feel like I'm starting to get better at visualizing 3 dimensions. I guess now I need to study and memorize more interesting shapes, including anatomy (human and animal), so I can put these things into my work...and studying tonal patterns and how they relate to the form/lighting situation. any other suggestions?
I am most impressed by your grasp of the human figure in terms of movement and balance; pose. Your figures look natural, and convey a sense of purpose in their position. That is what I envy most.
Do you ever work in colors? I'd be curious to see how that turns out.

thanks bro. I'm glad you said that, cause I've been working on weight and balance and gesture a lot to get rid of the stiffness I used to have. I've done a bit in color, but I'm not very interested in color rendering yet... need to study structure more. and light and shade, and drapery patterns, etc.
here's a few pages of faces I did today from a magazine since I suck at them. You can tell the ones I did from my head (I assume).
Looking good Jeff, I like the non-humans (the lizard/chamleons) since those aren't things we usually see on here, makes it more interesting if you know what I mean.
thanks dude, ya I know what you mean. gotta do something to get attention around here, right?
ok so I lied. I *am* interested in color. But it's hard. I had forgotten that part of the reason I want to get better and 2d art is to be better at painting textures for use in 3d...anyway, so I got out the old prismacolors today and scribbled over a pen sketch I did the other day. ( the highlights are white gel pen)
here's some stuff I drew. none was ref except the hands.
i need serious work on hands and feet.
Some of your faces are looking really fun. Don't be afraid to loosen up though! Also try some different expressions!
Keep it up!

great mech guys and hands!
I like the poses you draw.
the baby finger knuckle on the one hand is a bit big perhaps?
keep it uP !!
thanks muttonhead. It's funny, it has been feeling to me lately that I've been too loose, and I need to tighten up and try to make the right lines first, or at least earlier, like the second pass maybe. or else just not care if it's the 'perfect' line and just make it anyway... that would be a faster way to draw. so that's what's been in my head in the last few days.
endregen, I know i'm not supposed to say this (my teacher says never say it), but, that's how it was! I noticed it when I was drawing but I guess my hand is unique like that.
the last few were inspired by this drawing BY HAWKPREY, which I'm working converting into 3d right now. Progress is here . Her head is in progress and obviously her equipment. Here is the texture I painted. I'd love any tips some of you real painters might have to improve it.
thats one big texture map you got there! maybe you want to try adding more tones of colours to your textures, perhaps a tint of blue or purple in the shadows and stuff? just a suggestion though.
nice going with the gestures and poses, they look great! *thumbs up*
