Hello! My name is Asparuh Kostov and here is my DA account: http://asparuh13.deviantart.com/
I need directions for developing my skills, so if anyone can give me links to tutorials and such stuff than please do. I have i book by Matt Dixon called "The Fantasy Artist's Figure Drawing Bible", it is of great help but i want to ask you guys here too. Please check out my gallery and tell me what you think. What should i try? Do you have useful tutorials?
Welcome, Asparuh. I'd suggest posting images directly into this thread if you want feedback - there's an attatchment manager so you don't need to worry about image hosting offsite.
You'll find all the tutorials and advice you'll need around here. Here are a couple of links to get you started -
I'd strongly recommend interacting with the community in the regular activities too. You might not attract many crits at first, but you'll learn from reading comments left for others and you'll soon make friends -
I'm glad you have found my book useful. Taking a quick look at your DA gallery, things are quite stiff and very two dimensional. You seem to be thinking in terms of mostly flat shapes. I'd leave colour and digital work to one side for a little while and concentrate on lots of sketching to help you loosen up, get some expression and a better impression of form into your drawings. Draw from life rather than your imagination. At your level, I think you'll find drawing simple objects that you have around - a coffee mug, pot plants, items of furniture and so on - useful. It will help you understand drawing primitive geometry, and you can apply simple shading to explore how light interacts with different surfaces. These are the building blocks you'll need to tackle more complex objects.
Post your sketches up here for critique and you'll soon see progress.
