Thought I'd post up a commissioned drawing and a painting for everyone to take a look at.
New to the board so try and be gentle, or not.
The 2nd one is great!
Dont know what to crit on the 1st, but it look alittle wierd to me. ^^;;
great job. keep e'm coming
Self-improvement is masturbation, Self-destruction on the other hand....
judging by the kickass-ness of the drawing, i can tell you that you're way too good of an artist to belittle yourself with photoshop filters... (i think that's what i see... beveling on the gun and the stained glass filter?) paint with photshop like you would in real life and it will look like a nice piece of art. (might need a wacom tablet to do this, though some people can do it with a mouse)
i can understand if you were just experimenting with photoshop though, because it shows that you know how to do a lot of technical stuff like the rain and everything... but the drawing is 100000000 times better than the other one imo...
Thanks both of you. Yep, drawing is my strongest skill, but unfortunately, people want colour. The nun is a couple of years old, and it shows. Didn't use the bevel or stained glass filters, all done by strokes and brush, The stone is painting thru a channel, but it looks cool.
Thanks anyway, take a look at www.freeantz.com for more stuff.
one thing that would make the nunpic look much better was if you lowered the opacity of the colored glass a little more and made the colors darker.. since it is dark... colored glass still let through light.. another thing is to make the stuff between the stones less like one color.. if you look at things like that it isn't just one color..
anyway your drawing is kickass!!!
love the drawing, especially with the blood being red, great pose as well BTW.
something about the nun, if the highlight on her back was sharpened like the rest, the whole pic darened and lowered in contrast IMO it would look better
I checked your site lots of good stuff, just one thing I noticed some of your female characters have what can only be described as comedy breasts
forgive me if im wrong, but the second one looks exactly like something in the Vampire: The Masquerade book, only there is a smere of blood from her hand rubbing the wall in the original.
You gotta know what you is doin so you don't get a bad lergy on your knob.
You aren't wrong, I got the model to recreate the pose for this piece as it was a present for her. It is a great John Bolton painting, so I don't feel bad for lifting the pose from it
only thing is the gun, I'm sure it would look miles better being black with lighter highlights and some paint 'chipping' otherwise nice concept
I like both drawings. I think if you play with your lights and darks more on the nun piece, it would really give it more mood, and make that nun pop right off the page.
The cowards never started and the weak died along the way.
Cheers guys, as I said, the nun pic is quite old and I've got better since then, here is Hellboy
fitz, I know I'm in no position to judge you, but why did u include a swastika in your last drawing?
"I'm glad I'm not a gamma."
Because Hellboy fights the Nazis. It isn't a political statement or anything
Or that you heil hitler...just kidding, that went out of line, sorry.
It's faded into the moon to represent Hellboy's struggle against the Nazi's, am I correct?
Correct on both points, haha. Yep, plus it looks cool, how come the bad guys always get the cool symbols?
I believe that symbol was orginally chinese, then hitler had to ruin it
Wow great stuff, love the hellboy pic. The Nun looks really good, but the gun doesn't match the art of the rest of the pic; it looks a little flat and plain. The Vampire chick looks awsome, I love how the red stands out, great job.
BTW If any of you have read the manga, Blade of the Immortal, the main character uses that symbol, because it was origionally used by Japanese Buddhist monks to represent Good fortune. It was the crappy Naz's who took a dump on it.
Just thought you'd like to know
