Now crit the shit out of me!
I like the idea of Red dealing with her "Wolf" a drug dealer but I don't think the scene is reading very well, nor that the "Wolf" aspect is very clear. I would really like to see you do a few more thumbnail sketches because the concept is great but I don't see it really coming through.
I like the mood of this piece and I like that loose feel but hopefully you'll tighten it up a little bit so you know where she is, right now its a little vague.
So for me is the first pass on the color and shading. I like how its reading so far. I can't wait to see some of these other pieces come to life!

Is the attachment thingy working...not yet I see...
So, I`ve been thinking (which is never a good thing) - I could either sit around in the corner of my room feeling sorry for myself and sulking, OR I could use the opportunity of having a 2 week ChOW, and actually DO something about it. This might be just the thing to "jump start" me again <.<
I`m going with the "young adult story" approach. Red is a teenager, and goes on into adventures with her friend Hunter (who only thinks he`s a real hunter) and Wolf (shapeshifter? Werewolf? Member of a secret tribe? Don`t know yet) fighting the evil witch (Granma, is that you? *_*), with lots of action, magic, romance, humor blah blah blah...you know, what ever turns kids on these days.
Started with designing Red (still looks super generic)...

After watching far too much Dr. Who and Birdy: Decode I have decided to go with an Outer Space Alien Versailles theme for my LRRH and the wolf. Taxes need to get finished first though!
What's with the attachment manager? D:
I thought of the story that Red Riding Hood has red clothes because of the blood of her own parents she killed. Maybe I will make it a lot darker but I kinda like the bright colors and the dark theme. We'll see. :>
PxelSlayer : She's looking good !
I'm gonna do a little riding hood in a bar, who's being hit on by a bad wolf. The hunter is sitting on another table and watch them, waiting to catch the wolf.
This is the "classic version", maybe i wanted to switch the wolf and the girl, dunno if i can to do a old riding hood who's annoying a little innocent wolf.
Maybe i'll put the granma as a pole dancer behind?
Here's an update on mine.
Pxlslayer - looking good, I like her outfit so far.
Snafu - loving the mood so far.
Dread Reaper, I think it's an interesting piece. I'm guessing shes on an audition. I like how the grandma is in the background looking all nervous, hoping little red does a good job. By the way, where is her red hood?
PxelSlayer, Wel I'm not an expert nor a pro, and she may be generic like you say, but I think she looks awesome. And I also think that your piece is a really good portrayal of character design. Her design is readable and simple, perfect for 3d modeling in my opinion.
-Marin- , I like how it's looking so far. I like the idea of her clothes beign red because of the blood, and I would like to see how you portray this effect in the final rendering.
Mj_Alcazar. I like the fact that you chose a human head for the wolf, that way he's more werewolf like than anthro character. But I think his arms are too skinny, this is assuming you want to make him look strong, if you wanted to make him look more creepy than strong, then the skinny arms work very well. I think his forearm is too short though.
I want to enter this one too, I want to make an OC (the OC...Orange County....) version of little red riding hood. I'll remake Grandma, and little red riding hood. and If I have time I'll try to do the Wolf too C:
Voodoo Mama, thanks so much for that catch, I didn't even notice how short that forearm was. I shall fix that. And yes, I was going for more of a creepy look.
Basic sheet for my LRRH WW2 edition. Just needed to get her general form before I could put her into the pose for the illustrated piece.
MJ_Alcazar Adoring your color scheme!
-Marin- Her neck looks a bit long to me, but perhaps I'm just not understanding the anatomy going on under her cloak.
PxelSlayer Beautiful as always! Personally I don't think that she's generic, though she does kind of remind me of Robin Hood. Perhaps it is the boots (with the turns on the tops).
Dread_Reaper Interesting and disturbing twist! I would like to see more red on Red, though. Because, right now, she could read as any little pretty girl.
Brand2.0 Love their gestures and expressions! However, the composition seems a little stiff and the dealer seems really disinterested in Red. What if you had him flipped? So that he was leaning more towards her?
LA-Fairy With the green color and that bow, yours really reminds me of Robin Hood! XD
The upper body looks spot on, but the lower body just needs a minor tweak. As her feet are planted flat on the ground, her hips should also be level. I'd say either put her on tip-toe and raise her left knee, or lower her left hip down a bit. Also, don't be afraid to add more mass to the feet!
jenny7332 Such a beautiful play of light! Can't wait to see it rendered more!
Yeah character designs!
For my Red Riding Hood, I'm making her a Norse Welsh Viking Princess sent on a secret mission to bring some magical jewel to her family up North in the mountains. However, the girl is a clumsy blonde ditz! (no offense) Add a hot sexy wolfman character and you get complications!

correction wolf man mercenary...
So I dont know if i'll have time to finish this, but an idea struck me for this week's chow and i figured i'd try to sketch it out. Little Red is an orphaned girl taken in by Big Bad Wolf as one of his ladies of the night... different take, but this is all about concepts.... feedback would be great!
Check out my artwork at www.candlephoenix.com
@CandlePhoenix - Red is spot on IMO, but Wolf could use a bit more love (or in his case - menacing looks)
Red done. I think. Want to re-render this one all over again, but it`s just a sketch, so why bother, eh...<.< Next up - Hunter! *never painted a "nerd" character before, should be fun ^.^*
CandlePhoenix — I wonder how it would look "flipped." I feel like there are some shapes that could be stronger, in particular on Big Bad. Right now he's tipping and I don't think it's just his hat. I don't know if Big Bad Wolf needs to be more menacing; the fact that he's a leering pimp is creepy enough for me.
Pxelslayer — I know you said something about this being generic but if it is I think generic rarely looked so lovely. It's just well done, and if that's not sufficient for you it's one fine point to start from this early.
I got the need, the need for speed.......
Attempting to jump in guns blazing, heres some hunting lil red. werewolfs befuckinware

I want make cute and adorable red riding hood with vivid color. Hope it deliver the message
Well, here I go again... doing too much... I can't stop myself. I kept putting in more wolfies. I've only stopped because my head is killing me.
I guess it's Resident Evil meets Aeon Flux meets Van Helsing meets... well, you get the picture.
Critique, comments welcome, as always.
Edit: slence — had to say that it keeps getting more lovely. The sun dappling the scene is magical.
Think I've got a bit of time for this. Got two ideas. Red and the Wolf as star crossed lovers, or Red and the Hunter as werewolf hunters. Cliche maybe but what's new?
PxelSlayer: Nice! She's cut too! Is that legal...
slence: Lovely! I can imagine the wolf peeking out from the tree behind her. I think it might be more symbolic if the light dapples on the path and the forest fades to dark with the odd shaft of light
MasterTroglodyte: I'm glad I veered from the Red as a hunter as you've done it so well. I wonder if you had grandma cowering by the door if that might connect more with the fairy tail? Or maybe the hunter to turn it on it's head!
Variation of the Red as a werewolf hunter, Wolf creeping up on her unaware that she's got a picnic basket full of anti werewolf devices
LA-Fairy: Great minds think alike? %D Would love to see your approach but nothing is showing here. :/
Phrix: WW2, haha Never thought of that! (Lol, what about Hitler as the wolf?)
PxelSlayer: She's beautiful Does the red glowing thingy represent something? It's quite an eyecatcher.
Second try, this time focusing more on Red. She seemed too unimportant on my first painting and the anatomy was wrong, as Phrix mentioned. Also, I used some ref for the pose this time. I don't know if I should put the corpses of her parents on the ground, hum... (I'm so bad at drawing people lying on the ground :'D)
Sorry that was cute not cut...
A bit more progress not sure about it though
