Nice work, keep at the studies. A bit of advice is to keep in mind the proportions and balance of the figures. The mid point of an entire figure generally falls above the genitals. You can also used heads to measure the proportions, but I don't recommend it since it is harder to keep track of, especially if a pose is all bunched up.
Twinkle, twinkle little star
I don't wonder what you are
For by spectroscopic ken
I know that you are hydrogen - Ian D.
Conniekat8 - thanks
Vay - hah thanks man, i suppose youre refering to the very last photoshop sketches right? ya, they suck.
chazillah - aha thanks!
alright. from what ive been thinking and stuff. i need basics. like loads and loads of it. no more texture and silly studies.
my focus is gonna be
after i get at least half decent with those ill think of other things
ahhh, ive been a slacker these past 2 days.
need to get back on track!
the usual leg thingy, way less today
feet from books
and then from memory
fail doodles of the day
a study, not a good one. the brushwork was really enjoyable tho
wasabi89 yayayya vamoo que vamo
Ninja Adi haha im glad to hear
Diarum ya man, i think i am. i do 1 figure from reference and the next from imagination, always switching. so exatcly half of all my figures are form imagination. but yeah, i havent done much imagination stuff lately.
oh man, so much fail today
procrastinated the whole day, even after reading jasons manley story(really amazing)
hmm, i dont think these longer ones help a lot. i mean, maybe with rendering and stuff, but my point is color, i think the 10 minutes one work better
so many wrong things in this one....
haha i have no idea what this is either
Hi Aragah, thanks for stopping by my SB.
Great stuff here lots of improvement from the start. You might want to up the contrast of your scans as they are a little bit pale. Keep pushing those anatomy studies!
Also I think they beardy man in the latest post is missing some mass at the back of his cranium for where his brain goes
Whirly hah thanks for passing by too man. ya those are acctually pictures, but i think i just figured out a good way to take them and, ya ill check to see if im doing the back of the heads too flat, thanks mate
watched sickbrushes livestream today, intresting stuff.
he pointed out how relaxing he think doing studies is, i think its pretty the opposite, cuz im always like, "pay attentiion, do it right, what are you learning from it?" haha but maybe i should take it easier, enjoy them more? then i could do a ton without getting tired! that would be awesome
anyways, put a higher contrast in the pictures now (duh, why took you so long)
new sb project. to complete with just designs. its gonna be hard, but i need to get better at creating and imagining new things!
after bouguereau(i have to look up his name evey single time i spell it)
unfinished i guess? really tring to focus on color,
bleh, ill upload more stuff tomorrow
hey i got a question. where do you guys upload you stuff?
because i only use imageshack because it resizes it when i upload.(that why i dont use the concept art one)
but im trying photobucket now
feels like i learned a ton about rendering, and a little about color.
got to do better next time!
I use photobucket because I'm lazy to search for a better one. I used the attachment manager here a lot but now that it keeps asking me zillion questions, I keep it for boobs and stuff. Photobucket hates nipples, you draw 2 lil dots and they delete your drawing. I drew a perfectly sterile sketchy grayscale nude figure, almost just a silhuette, no pubic anything in the shadows but her silhuette included the nipple. They deleted. I never will forgive them, it's insane. I just use the site (and never tag anything, I actually would be happier with just an ftp site).
The guy in the first portrait has an oddly tiny mouth.
vanaga - tahnks man. but landscapes are not the same. at least not in my mind. i dont really see how to do them in the sasme brush work
shiNIN - hah thanks for the warning on boobs. i think ill keep using imageshack. photobucket has a nice sistem to copy the link tho
ammm. i would like opinions on this. its obviously not finished. just a sketch for now. but im confused about something
is this out of my comfort zone or just something that i havent studied yet/out of my reach????
anyways. im pretty lost on how to carry on with it. but ill give it a few more tries
was feeling a little down today.
its funny because i was feeling like i had progress, but instead of getting pumped i got down D:
anyways, i need to increase productivity.
but at the same time im going out today(what a hypocrite)
ive been feeling too much like a Hannes copy lately, at least in the figure studies. but i cant help it, hes way too inspirational.
having a whole bunch of troubles with figures and what style to use. so i went back to posemaniacs.
ill figure stuff out with time i guess
-indefinite name- was pedobears best buddy in human sexual arrasment college. his problem was that whe didnt liked most of the classes. so he skipped most of the color and anatomy classes for his disguise course.
he and pedo had tons of fun together, but he decided to keep his victims to apropriate age,
he also has a strang habit of eating them sometimes. or just scaring them for kicks
lol its sad. i need to have better ideas.
they are all silly or plain stupid.

COME ON YOU CAN DO IT! O_O I know those feelings, they will always come!! We have to get used to them haha. It's so easy to get discouraged but you have to fight it with everything you can...a secret to learning is "getting over yourself" I think < 3.
And yes, hannes is sort of an inspiration (hahaaa).
but he would tell you to find your own path probably!
So think for yourself; try to not let other people do the thinking for you! You will learn more this way.
It's okay to see another person's habits and use them to improve yourself, but make sure you also learn what works for YOU and that you aren't just mindlessly following someone's path, yes???
and of course this advice is me talking to myself as well < 3
because everyoonnee learns differently! which is awesome cause it makes life more interesting.
Tons of improvement from the first page, keep it up dude!
thanks for stopping by my SB im rly digging the pencil work. keep up!
chazillah - haaaaaa thanks so much! really means a lot
and about my own path. i think its gonna be something in between my influences. the thing is. my influences are so similar to hannes himself. i mean, mucha, janachi, pascenko, anime. idk. i dont think ive found my own "flavor" yet
rainingdarkness thanks man! first page was a loong time ago tho
cristopher-B - hah thanks!
blragh. so much fail today. and didnt draw anything at all yesterday
i think i have to go slower with my pencil. it comes out with slightly better proportions, but i can do it in the style i like.(i dont have to do blocky drawings to get stuff "right")
posemaniacs. they are helping a lot with style/workflow/handlingthepen
crap from my mind
alright. you guys must be tired as f* of hearing me whining here.
but i feel obligated to write here. so when i look at this to see my weakness i can remember what my state of mind was(because it changes REALLY fast)
the point is.
i NEED to have better ideas. artist are suppose to be the "creative" type of people, those who innovates.
and when im drawing most of the time the frustration doenst come from the lack of skill, but from the lack of ideas to draw.
i freaking love to draw. but to draw i need to have something to draw.
im not the type of guys who has lots of ideas and want to put them out, so they learn how to draw.
im the guy who likes to draw, so im gonna learn to have ideas so i can draw!
back to sketching!

Ughh I hope I don't come across mean, but, no no no nono. This is so wrong, please don't think this way. erm, not that I have a right to tell you how to think, but here is my two cents:i NEED to have better ideas. artist are suppose to be the "creative" type of people, those who innovates.
and when im drawing most of the time the frustration doenst come from the lack of skill, but from the lack of ideas to draw.
You can have the most amazing idea, concept, design, or story in the entire world. BUT if you don't have the skills to execute it, it simply won't happen. So your thinking is really backwards here...be careful.
Focus on improvement. The "ideas" WILL come. If you are human, you ALREADY have ideas. You have a brain. You have experiences to draw from life...plenty of them. o_o Be patient with yourself and stop thinking all artists have to be super "creative".
You can paint an illustration of say, a chick holding a flower. Sooo boring right? Well, if you have the technical skills to execute it (great lighting, value relationships, structure/anatomy, depth, and composition) it could probably be a masterpiece haha. Well, maybe it's just a cel-shaded girl, not even a painting. It can still be amazing.
http:///images/view/97077/ This idea is boring, right? "Paint a picture of a room with a game on the computer." Nothing innovative happening in the idea. The so-called "innovation" is happening in the skill.
It's the SKILL artists have to manipulate to impact the viewer! D: I hope you can see what I mean, and good luck, keep working hard. < 3 please just focus on improving... ;____; your 'ideas' that you are searching for will come just patieeence, I wouldn't write this if I didn't think you were doing awesome D: you are, just keep going and dont try to "leap ahead" by designing...
chazillah - alright. first of all. THANKS A LOT! it really means a lot to me your reply.
buuuuttt...... i must disagree.
i mean. i think concept and skill walk hand in hand.
yes i know there is a lot of discussion around which one is more important.
in my opinion, i think both are VERY essential.
and my goal here is to become a better artist, and (idk if its true) but in order to become better i have to tackle my WEAKNESS . so.
i feel like my imagination is a huge part of my weakness.(No, i wont stop developing skill,)
have you ever been to those super bring 3 hours lectures? well i have, a lot of times. when im there i like to sketch. but after a couple pages i feel like i run out of fuel. but i know im not tired of drawing, because i do that way more at home, it is because i dont have anything to study. and then my imagination can only feed me a few pages.
could you imagine if i would "run out of ideas"? the amount of drawing that i would do would increase by a lot !
plus the way to make your studies concrete is by applying them, with your imagination!
oh btw. the link is not working for me
-edit- oh shit. am i been too stuburn/closeminded? crap i dont think im very good at listening to others. sorry. i hope i dont sound to mch like an ass
so, i might be completely wrong here.
but i am gonna focus on the BASICS. for me, that means
color, anatomy, and ideas.
with those 3 i will built my awesome fortress of awesomeness so i can rule in awesomeness and be an awesome human-type-of-creature
haha sorry i get exited easily when talking about art.
anyways. to summon up
i am motivated by awesome. i would like to create awesome things.
awesome things are some times made out of ideas, other times made out of skills.
but the really awesome ones have both!
sb page, hoddies
posemaniacs. they have been helping sooo much
figures from head
ammm too small pictures?
i think its better, easy to view stuff.
when its something worth seen ill post it bigger
Nice portraits and studies, I see a good improvement happening. Keep it up!
hey, yeah, of course applying studies to your imagination is essential. o_o But why would you think you need brilliant ideas for that? that's a technique thing.
it also depends on your direction. if you want to be a concept designer (sounds like you do???), then yes, you have to work on developing interesting designs eventually, for jobs and such.
but fundamentals will still come first, so i'm also saying: don't jump ahead of schedule and get yourself in a rut..haha. sometimes jumping too far ahead can cause frustration nomnomnom.
nice work today! LET'S WORK HARDER TOMORROWWW okay? OKAY.
many times i feel kinda the same, that im dry on ideas and cant draw ´caus of that, even if i push myself, if i dont have an idea of what to do, even for studies, i turns out crap
but, all i can see is awesomeness, so keep that awesomeness up, ´caus its looking...awesome?
Kudaku - thanks
chazillah, oh i know. jumping way ahead. sometimes i did that. thats why i try to focus on the basics.
haha but i have no idea what i want to work with. right now the only thing i have in mind is to learn to draw/paint. its a pretty impossible challenge
thats the spiritttttt!!!!!!!! haaaaaa WORK HARD - GET RESULTS! lets do thiiissss!
rumpenstiltzkin, that feeling sucks right? thanks!
blragh internet wasnt working most of the day. had a pretty good productivity.
as soon as it got back. productivity felt to 0.00001 and all my reference sites would open(internet doesnt want me to study and get better!)
left is vanderpoel, rigt is imagination
graaaaahhhhh. these selfportrait have been kicking my butt soo hard!
i felt pretty lost(specially) on this one
Hey, nice work. It's good seeing so many line studies, that's definitely the best learning tool initially.
I'm also seeing improvement in your digital representation, initially the lines were very hard, but that's getting better. For better grasp of colour, I'd say study painters and reality, if you do enough of it, you'll learn how different colours in the same environment inform one another.
Keep it up!
AH shit you owned me today. fffffffff--
don't worry, tomorrow i will kick your ass *_* because I don't have to work, annd....well...
WELL FFfsadjbfF GOOD WORK. < 3
and you mean learn to draw/paint to get a job in such, right?
I'M SO MOTIVATED I THINK MY HEADACHE WENT AWAY AFTER SEEING YOUR POST
EDIT: PAGE TEN CONGRATS.
