Maedhros son of Fëanor arriving at the havens of Sirion. Events which inspired this image:
"Now when first the tidings came to Maedhros that Elwing yet lived, and dwelt in possession of the Silmaril by the mouths of Sirion, he repenting of the deeds in Doriath withheld his hand. But in time the knowledge of their oath unfulfilled returned to torment him and his brothers, and gathering from their wandering hunting-paths they sent messages to the Havens of friendship and yet of stern demand. Then Elwing and the people of Sirion would not yield the jewel which Beren had won and Lúthien had worn, and for which Dior the fair was slain; and least of all while Eärendil their lord was on the sea, for it seemed to them that in the Silmaril lay the healing and the blessing that had come upon their houses and their ships. And so there came to pass the last and cruellest of the slayings of Elf by Elf; and that was the third of the great wrongs achieved by the accursed oath."
- J. R. R. Tolkien: The Silmarillion, Chapter 24 "Of the Voyage of Eärendil and the War of Wrath"
Painted in Painter IX, with final colour and sharpness corrections done in Photoshop. Constructive critique welcomed.

The lines on the shield are really nice. A few of the areas get a little stringy, but the overall effect is cool. I'd like to see some colors introduced to the dark area of his chest, where it's behind the shield. Something like the purple on his leg but maybe a bit brighter?
Very nice, i would probably agree the front may need a little more brightness to it, but i still love it
Nice fire efects, I can never seem to do flames very well but yours look great, Keep it up!
I thing this piece needs some texture of something - its a little to clean
Thank you all for comments, I'm glad you like it
TmDurn7, thank you. I agree it would use a bit more purple in the part behind the shield, it probably had some but I repainted the whole armour a lot and it got lost.
aka_sova, thank you
awooldri, it looks good on my screen but shows up darker after printing out. If you mean about contrast of the front figure vs background I tried to balance it better after painting, but didn't want to loose my idea about him wearing dark red armour and being lit the strongest by sides rather than from the front.
Ptree3, neither do I They are still a bit too soft, but given this is impression not a real scene it works fine for me. I hope to paint sharper flames in the future.
sander456, textures on his armour got lost after resizing, probably I did them too soft. Flames would be better with a few sharper lines, but then the figures would lost in it totally. Given contradictory ideas people had about refining flames or leaving the background less refined I left them in present shape. But I agree achieving something less smooth with more brush strokes left would be nice. Only when ever I try to paint that way I end up polishing before I notice.

The Sword guard looks crooked as it is now.
I'm digging the flames.

A few more artworks, I'll keep them, all in one thread:
Illustration to the Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien - Age of Stars, Olwë of the Teleri making decision to leave his lost brother in Beleriand and sail to the Undying Lands with his people.
Fire and Ice done for Opposites event at PixelBrush forums.
An illustration I plan to do again, but I like the monochromatic variant of it.
A long time before Maedhros of the fist image in this thread will commit the third kinslaying.
All done with tablet in Painter 9.5. Thanks for looking!
