Duderoo !...post your stuff into the finals thread for Rangda, the demonqueen ! ..they didnt managed to get the poll up by yesterday, so deadline is shifted to today (31th) 9PM GMT+1 ...not saying I stand a chance in winning ...BUT ...whats the point in winning if the competition is not as tough as possible !
thanks for posting up the step-by-steps on the first page, i'll check out the rest when I get home but I really like everything I've seen so far!
my sketchbook <- feel free to point and/or laugh.
wow man really love your work, wish i will be as good as you when im 30 still got some years but my eyes where melting when i saw those images, how do you creatue such realistic texture? like ice water fire etc?do you use photos?
my Sketchbook plz help me become a better artist !
Just checked out your blog site. Sweeeeeeet. And thanks for sharing all that info earlier in the thread!
Thanks for all the great feedback. Here's a weekend experiment with Perseus and crew. All in progress images on this are missing, as it was a brush experiment I was doing that Voltroned into something else. Very clusterfucky, but exciting strides in custom my brush making nonetheless.
I've missed the past couple CHoW entries due to various circumstances. I appreciate the kind words Partisan, very cool of you to give me the heads up.
It goes without saying that the majority of artists using CA want to better themselves. For myself, it's important to use the site as a way to be inspired by interesting topics and other artists. I hope I'm not alone when I say that competing in a finals thread, although cool and motivation for pushing yourself, is not even close to the real objective... right?!?!
MarcSampson - Yes and no (Politician answer). Depending on what I'm doing I'll either grab a nice piece of stock imagery that I can manipulate by cutting it up, warping it, and painting over as a base, or just use a texture brush to simulate the noise in the effect. I'm looking for a good shape and accurate breakup of forms to describe the flow of the effect based on gravity, environmental weather, or character movement. Aside from the mandatory "World of warcraft" effects, things like snowdrift, sand, or simple air particles can help describe mood and add depth/atmosphere.
Now, time for some old fashioned Valentines Day shopping panic.
my jaw dropped!!... wauw... absolutely stunning.
I love your painterly textures. Really cool illustration.

Hey dude thanks for the great crit in the CHOW thread, for some reason I wasn't seeing your posts until I used another machine... Weird!.. I have a tendancy to overwork stuff and lose some of the feeling in doing so. Ah well we're all here to learn! Yeah you're right about posting in the finals thread, though it's always a nice ego boost if you do well Love your Leo post though it does look like he's broken his own neck...
Amazing work, i really enjoy all of them.
Agree with above post, your WIP´s are really inspiring! Keep it up!

Nice work, as usual!
Yes, yes, YES!
This is an awesome collection of work. It is really interesting to see your references coupled with the finished product. You also really use forms well, and that adds a nice level of realism and physicality to the image.
Oh, and the Four Horsemen image is amazing.
your a BEAST dude! this last piece is amazing. very nice, do you usually paint flat paints on a new layer after you work up the grey scale? or did you start with colors, and turn the colors off to check the lighting balance in b+w?
HOOOOLLLY FUCK! Dude .. awsome stuff you got here .. i hope i will be as good as you somewhen!
I really admire your ability to mix detailed portions with loose, painterly areas in your illustrations. I'm working toward that kind of technique
dude your stuff i awesome. Keep it up man, keep posting. U got some mad inspirational work.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
