Posted this up some time ago in development stages.
The more I look at it, the more unfinished it looks. Too clean and neat to be in the middle of a fight....doesn't feel like he's down and out....and other stuff.
Most comments came from here and my colleagues at work.
I'll be looking into those on my next attempt....I'll leave this one alone for now.
There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and THE TRUTH.
this is great,
it reminds me of the film black hawk down.
I dont know but some thing looks a little wrong but i cant get my senses round to thinking what it could be.
I like the colors and the lighting, but I agree it doesn't give you the impression that he is in the middle of a battle. Maybe some rips in his uniform or bullet holes would give more of the impression your after. His pose doesn't suggest it either. I like the pose alot but it looks more like he is taking a rest between battles. You could put him with his back against the wall, glacing sidways out the window. I llike the down trodden look he has though. Just make him look more beat up and make the room look like its taken a beaten. Dom plaster or wallpaper ripped off would look cool I think. This is a cool piece if you do nothing else!
I don't spellcheck...
maybe extend the pic more to the right and have a iraqi soldier patroling around
First, this is really well done I like your style and it does remind me of Blackhawk Down. The soldier is rendered really tight.
As far as things I see that might need improving....
First the soldiers right leg gets lost in the back ground. The first thing I thought when I looked at this is damn thats good but wheres his other leg. Now the background is good and it works with the soldier in that it being blurry and the soldier being the most defined make the soldier the center of attention. What detracts from that is the bright light coming in through the crack in the wall. Your focal point in a drawing should always be the highest contrast. I would say dull down the light coming in a notch or two and see how it looks.
In all fantastic work, better work then I can do......yet.
