Here is another study of my my two lizards and stuff from imagination. Nothing more to say other than I need practice.
OK here is the last picture of these two guy's. Have to admit the hardest thing to draw was the hands on the lizard on all fours in all the pictures. Getting proportions and perspective right has also been a challenge along with shading (still). But I still have two more weeks of drawing a still life everyday for my goal and so far so good on keeping up with that. Don't know what I'll be next month but I'll think of something.hehe I'm not sure if I'll improve much but we'll see. Anyway can't wait till tomorrow to start my new project.
Well you just gotta keep at it, like you said. Try really hard to observe instead of drawing what you think it looks like--for instance those marks on lizard's back just look sloppy. Focus on observing more- go with a less complicated(like a cellphone) and more organic object. Draw your left hand starting with a basic shape/outline and carefully draw into it. Measure and compare. Use a knitting needle or a satay stick to measure the angles. Learning to draw is learning to see! Please follow up on your process and good luck! I hope everything I said made sense.
Oh yes thanks that makes perfect sense even though I had to reread five times because I didn't understand but I get it now.lol I had also planed on drawing my hand this week too.Unfortunately I read this after I had drawn the hand but will use your stuff next time. I had also been using shapes first as a guide before I draw but I could be doing it wrong(that wouldn't be surprising hehe).
Anyhow tried drawing my hand with so Bridgman studies and failing at that as usual.hehe My hand is on the left Bridgman on the right. Tried a second time but just for 10 min with some line practice. The last two I was just practicing different shading techniques with a couple of gestures. The shading still doesn't blend but with more practice I'll get it right. At least I think I will.

Yea another hand and I did a couple of contour drawings before I dived right into the hand. I learned my lesson of never drawing in room without a direct light source. At least for a beginner like me try to learn these things. There are some more Bridgman studies and a couple of things from imagination.
Drawing and shading my hand again and i did a contour drawing before I drew it . Look more Bridgman studies. Yea I know I only copied one and that was the one with the pinky finger only. I did quite a few from looking at the picture some are from memory and others timed. Still need to practice and they look pretty bad but I feel like I understand that part of the hand if not any other part. (I think I'll be doing more of these each with a different body part)Last but not least that drawing rom imagination was supposed to be 5 min. and wasn't even going to post it but 5 min. turned into 45min. Even though it looks bad and I have a very long way to go that is probably the most accurate figure I've drawn up to date. Much better than my stick figures an square bodies drawn from imagination. hehehe
Well I did draw yesterday just didn't upload it so here it today and yesterdays drawings(yesterdays on the left and today's on the right). I'm getting into the habit of not erasing so I ca see the mistakes I make. No shading this time just working on the hairy lines and did some more Bridgman studies. I tried but hose just came out bad so I'm going to do them again tomorrow.
Just trying to shade my hand again and some Bridgman studies.
The first three were done yesterday the last one today. Anyhow tried my hand again first in charcoal then in pen. Both came out bad especially the shading in the charcoal one.
The third page I wasn't sure if I should have even posted it because it is a little empty but decided to anyway. Just some stuff from imagination anyway.
Today no studies just stuff from imagination. Tried doing a couple of anatomy studies here and there from memory. It's quite obvious that I need to practice some more though.
Ok here is a hand study that I didn't draw the basic shapes to. Don't know what came over me but I decided to give it try anyway. Yeah I know it has been said that you need them but sometimes it's good to figure it out the hard way. lol
And something from imagination again. Is there anything else you guy's recommend for me to do in order to improve because honestly I don't think I am?
Hi, babe. Nice to see you still around. I think you made a good progress since I last saw you.
-><-My sketchbook. Please, if you have time, crit as if your life depended on it.
