hi, i'm just a beginner, noob, novice, rookie artist. looking to get better, lacking in every department of art, so plenty to learn. Mostly do sketches of poses, monsters, characters, etc, so sorry if i don't post much finished stuff. Interested in most, if not all, kinds of art (except for photo-realistic, feels boring to me).
here some recent sketches i did, and something old for just an example of something finished
I really like the flow of lines in the ballerina that you drew. Keep it up! I'll be watching you :-)
Thank you Milou20 and Dessinateurimpulsif (maybe dess for short)
Sorry i don't post very often, hopefully i can do it more
here's something, i really enjoy going for line quality. I haven't worked on much finished work so sorry if it's rusty looking, also sorry for the symmetry of the legs (ick).
Awesome sketches going on here. I really love the monster sketches and how you practice different body proportions, Other than that I think you're on the right track.
Take a break. Drink a coke. Get back to drawing.
Thank you M.Alfonso, i hope i'm on the right track
colored. My shading could use some more work, as well as everything else
Nice and original post you got here Rikert, Love the characters, color and pose wise, all very experimental and new.
Keep them coming!
See my latest Sketchbook work!
Feel Free to comment!
Neat. So how do you get those super-clean curvy lines? A whole lot of trial and error, or are you erasing, or do you have an insanely steady hand, or what? Outside of doing vectors, I don't think I'd be able to do that.
Deceptive: thank you, i'll try to keep up the originality
Diamandis: thank you as well, i'm not too sure about how i got my lines, definitely a lot of trial and error, but also a lot of messing around with settings and line types. I use Paint Tool SAI which is a really nice program when it comes to line quality.
just doing some sack girl doodles to warm up. drawing women seems to help me draw men better....or maybe i just like drawing lady-like men hmmm....
Nice stuff man, I can see that you have alot of fun when you draw! Like your clean colors as well, but if you havent tried it, I would like to see you get just as playfull when you paint as you are when you draw. Try to paint without having a complete linedrawing to lay back on.
anyways, keep the good stuff up mate!
Beautiful line work. Keep posting!
Chevy: thank you, i'll try
sorry, sorry, i really do need to stop just sketching girls and stuff and actually finish stuff more. Will get to work on that
Really like your sketches and ideas - nice free movement and ideas. Your finished line work is really nice - really clean too - (jealous! ) Keep up the hard work and looking forward to more!
Daryl Zero: "A few words here about following people. People know they're being followed when they turn around and see someone following them. They can't tell they're being followed if you get there first."
meticulous: thank you, sorry for the jealous
Awesome distortion. MOAR.
I think every artist is moreover powerful in them own art department. You seems here that drawing is your hobby and I have seen here some drawings from you. These drawing seems truly amazing and it was of course a pleasure for me to watch your drawing.
wall scrolls posters
wow! the last one is really cool! there is a lot of 3d and dynamic in these sketches!
RyanRyan: thank you, i'll try for moar
Peterrsergen: wow some powerful words there, thank you.
Gregorkari: thank you, i try for dynamic, need a lot more practice at it, and everything else
quick doodles of costume designs. Should really flesh these out more
Very nice cartoon style, I like it a lot. Keep going :-)
Xiv: thanks, i'm not much of a realistic drawer so sorry if i don't do or upload more painting kind of things
based off a beetle costume i did (picture above ^). was going for a brawler design.
i'll switch to doing more dynamic stuff now, hopefully

Great start and welcome, keep practicing you'll get there!
Nice doodles as always Rikert
Omg , your style is amazing *_* It reminds me of disney ♥
Keep on working, perhaps practice more anatomy stuff *_*
hi man, thanks for stopping by at my sb man, love that your characters have a lot of personality and the colors are really neat sharp and vivid. Man are you studing animation? or do you study mike mattesi?
because at first glance i see your sketches and they totally sream that youre an animator, keep it up. Have you considered doing t shirt prints?
this one would make a damn cool one, mr. dicken or whatever
DizzySun: Thank you, i probably will try more realistic stuff later
Peterrsergen: thanks, i use Paint Tool SAI and a Genius Tablet i got off ebay for $80
Samurai_Nik: thanks a lot, trying to hit high and miss and learn, rather than aiming low and hit it.
BinaryDood: don't i know you from somewhere?
rupuni: appreciate it, i definitely do need to work on anatomy, no doubt about that.
0000: gracias, i did do animations before (lazy, bad Flash cartoons). Mike Mattesi is a HUGE inspiration and reminder for me to go see force, energy, and life within uhh...life. Burne Hogarth is also a HUGE inspiration, i guess those 2 are sort of my teachers. T-shirt designs would be cool, always wanted to give it a try, in the future i probably will, thanks again.
Veshkau: much obliged
Thanks for all the positive replies, really nice to know i'm doing something right. BUT seriously i don't mind some critique or suggestions on what i could do better, i'm certainly no professional or even at art school freshman level, though i don't usually post finished work, so that might be my fault.
Sorry for being dead...eh who cares
Anyways, i'm getting back into reading art books more (Andrew Loomis: Figure Drawing and Burne Hogarth: Dynamic Figure Drawing at the moment) any suggestions for book?
Also, I'm having a bit of Art Block at the moment. i usually just try to draw it off, but i'm also feeling drained of energy (maybe health problem?) What do you (anyone who responds) when you feel block and/or drained? thanks
