well first, it its not done, then it shouldnt be in the "finaly finished section" it should be in the WIP section
Second, even if you dont paint it, i think you should clean it up.
Third. hell ya you should paint it, this is a bad ass piece!!
BLAST ON YOU!
last time i posted in the wip section no one replied. so now i am cheating, and i already got a response. woot! thx for feedback.
Y do people not crit? Too suky to even waste time?
I feel you dawg! I hate it when people don't reply! Anyway, the only critique I have is on the last one, the demons weapon doesn't really look like metal. It needs more contrast or something to develop its form alittle more. Also the stick part looks alittle transparent. The musculature is really nice though. Maybe some anatomy issues, but you may have done that to make it look more creepy. Over all a nice effort on all. Not big on demons, but these are quite nice!
I don't spellcheck...
your images are kinda blurry, maybe there is some way to sharpen up the creatures muscles. Your work also needs more ocntrast in my opinion.
thanks for the comments.
I tried made his proportions elongated, but if you see other anatomy stuff than that, let me know what it are. Ill try and add some metalness to the blade. I think the bluriness is due to the low res of the image, but Ill see if I can tighten it up a bit, or maybe consider a harder brush. The contrast thing, well, I was trying to get away from the high contrast images that I usually put out. Trying to be subtle now, I guess. ThankS!
On the demon, I know he's not supposed to be normal human proportions, but to me it doesn't look like his legs would work very well. Also, it seems odd that his arms are closer to normal proportions - more even between the upper arm and the forearm and that the legs are so different. I think his shin/calf area needs to be longer. Right now the proportion on that area doesn't say 'weird or different' to me or 'scary' but simply 'awkward.'
Why am I in this handbasket, and where am I going?
I can see what you mean, but thats trully what I wanted. It seems that people's proportions in general tend to follow a nice and consistant harmony. Many times peoples proportioanl tendancies will be repeated throughout their body, slender face, slender bones, slender proportions. So it makes this demon guy feel really weird because his legs do not follow the same relationship rules the rest of his body does. I wanted that. Being a demon he was spawned from chaos. And so I wanted to try and show that in other ways than 3 arms and a mean face. Hmmm. Now he has 3 different parts of him that are chaotic, getting back to harmony again. ): Maybe hes a half demon.
The first drawing / painting of the dude holding the axe (or whatever the heck that thing is) has a really nice color scheme going. But it's killed for me by all the black. It seems like your style is heading more toward "painting", so my sugg is, don't just do a black drawing then color it.
Use the black & white as your sketch, then start fresh (i.e. a completely new layer) with the painting. Don't automatically use black for shadow areas - think about where all the light in the scene is coming from, and what color that light is. Think about light reflecting off of things in the scene, and casting light upon other things (radiosity). Then think about the color relationships from a purely 2D perspective (it seems like you have a fairly firm grasp of this).
There! Maybe that's more feedback than you wanted.
Awwwww. I used to do that, but it was hard and required thinking. Then I found this nice and simple method, that is very fast and fun. I was wondering if I could get away with it, but I guess not. I think what I will do is maybe go over the black on a third layer, adding nice shadow colors. That will still be easy, and maybe make it more interesting, and make everyone happy (:. Thanks for the comments, always glad to learn!
Cool! I really like the first one, it has a really great shape/form. The second one has a really good color/comp and lighting to it.
Keep it up dude!:chug:
