Yay more studies
I got one of David Finch's gnomon videos but I think I'll just stick to bridgmans for awhile.

Some face/head studies. My faces are terrible so expect more of these.
I hope I'm going about these studies correctly. I try to understand what I'm drawing and why instead of just copying the lines, but I'm afraid that I'm still doing that.
Noses, ears, and lips. I need to work on shading.
It's great you're studying from the books, you're on the right track! I suggest trying to re-draw what you've studied without looking at the original. Then, compare them with the original and find what you missed. That way you are forced to remember what you really learnt!
I'm looking at going to gnomon's three year program after high school. Is this very common? I will probably go to some figure drawing classes locally for to build up a portfolio first.
I've been super busy so the only time I get to practice is when I'm not doing anything in class, but heres a few pages from this week.
The third image with the egg is my first attempt at something from my imagination in awhile. I need to do some arm studies lol. The last two are wips from school. I hope you can see the last one, I had to play with the levels a lot so it would be visible.
Keep practicing mate, but do not only draw from reference. Read some books, and do the figure drawings.
Nice stuff here dude. your on the right track doing all those figure studies
I like your avatar. would you mind posting that? just looks interesting.

Good stuff here man
Its been awhile hah. I hate distractions. I have some sketchbook stuff to show though I just dont feel like scanning it right now.
@Medusoid Here is the link to my avatar. I didn't create it though it just fit my name and I have red hair as well hah.
Here is something that I just started. Next step is to start the coloring, but I really dont know were to begin. Fur painting scares me haha
any tips would be appreciated
Brilliant, I actually found the pick already by looking up Skull Kid cause (from zelda) after I saw your name I got nostalgic for it.
As for the fur, try using lots of swipes(in PS) with the opacity set to sense pressure and it should build up to a good effect but be careful its a pain in the ass to fix if you mess up XP
Studying old masters and copying drawings from books is good but not something I would suggest doing all the time. Draw from life as often as you can - people, plants, animals, buildings, whatever. Because then you're not just 'copying' something it's testing you to see how quickly you can copy poses and stuff before that person (or animal) moves.
A tip to start drawing better from your imagination would be to draw something from reference (from life, from a book, whatever) then walk away from that drawing/reference and after 10 minutes pick up a blank piece of paper and try to redraw the same thing from your head. The first time you do this and then compare the two drawings you'll be like "WHAT THE FUUUUUCK" (if you're anything like me xD) but it really helps in the long run.
I won't say anything about rendering and painting for now, let's just see more drawing! Keep posting dude!
Dana's HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF sketch blog
Also (sorry for posting twice haha) don't be afraid to use reference. I know there are some people out there who say crap like "oh I can't respect an artist that uses photos to draw" which is BULLSHIIIITTTTT. No great artist has gotten where they are without using reference material. You copy, you learn.

@ Medusoid-I got some sweet fur brushes to try out once I get to that.
@Dana_T-Thanks for the tips man. I think I might go outside and draw some tommorow.
Well I'm going on my fourth snow day tommorow which is crazy for Texas haha . So I'm going to take advantage of it and draw a lot.
A couple more. The second one still needs more work before Its ready to paint. I can't really figure out the legs and his chest is a tad fat hah

A couple sketchbook pages and and updated version of the falling guy.
My scanners been broken for awhile now, but I finally fixed it :3
Heres some sketchbook pages and my first painting! I'm pretty stoked about it. I actually just ordered a bunch of paint stuff so I can do it at home too (I did it at school).
My scanner isn't big enough and it wasn't flat on the scanner but whatever.
Hey guys its been awhile. I'm taking a drawing class (its three hours long ) along with my other classes at a local college. I will be attending rocky mountain college of art and design for illustration next year :]
I've picked up my tablet again but its been pretty frustrating. I have no idea how to begin the detail on the mountains and the tree. I do like the clouds though.
Line art for cow :3
Hey guys, been doing a lot lately. Most of it is either at school or I don't want to show it XD
Sorry about the crappy cell phone picture on the cube (the angle of the photo skewed the lines a bit). It's too large to fit on my scanner. It was all done with visual measuring btw. I'm finding that pretty challenging yet also interesting.
A charcoal project that I'm working on and some other things.
Here's some drawings of david's features.
