I have done this one on the last weekend.
I used a photo reference for some part of the pose, also used my own hand and feet.
This Image is done in OpenCanvas 1, I just adjusted the colours and fixed some lil things in Photoshop. This one took me about 14 hours.
I wanted to combine classic and realistic elements with comic. The final image seem to be waird at the first sight, but this is OK like that. I do not like realism much and also I am not a big fan of classic. In fact I just wanted to play and experiment with moods.
As you may notice, her body is brighter that the BG, I did adjust it on purpose to give the image more contrast, before she was lost in detail. I like the way her body glows, she has this white, pure skin. The dragon was inspired by Panzer Dragoon. In the first Version of the Image I had a classic dragon head and in the sketch there was a Chinese dragon. During the progress I wanted to stop painting a several times, some parts were boring to paint and I was tired..
I wanted to make the image look like oil first but I could not do so, Open Canvas is very limited.
I did not finish the image, there are many things undone, like this dummy short sword on the left.
Also I noticed that the image looks very different on the monitor in my office.
At home I use a LG Flatron, but all the fine nuances around the tree are gone now and it looks very flat, this I will fix to. Some parts of her cloths on the floor are not finished, the upper one on the left looks flat and rough, I will fix it.
Original Size is 1500 x 2304
here some details:
holy gawd... I can't wait to see this finished.
eh, where were we?
Haha, that's a crazy good design on that dragon head. Fun.
Very nice evironment. I'd like a little more definition on the woman. Her feet seems a bit sketchy compared to the detailing of the grass and other plants and the dragon head.
EDIT: ok, so now I actually read what you had to say about this piece. I guess, you're already aware of what I pointed out, so never mind.

very cool, love the deatiled dragon head, also her pose is very beautiful.. the bright body reminds me on paintings by Caravaggio and Velazquez from 1600 .. yay i learned something in art history =D
I like it. Especially like the the dragon head.
Eagles fly high, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
i like the image as a whole, but feel like the dragon head is the weakest part. it screams panzer dragoon to me to the point of it being almost a fan art. someone not familiar with video games might not see this as immediately but i think a traditional stylized head would work much better, or even a snake head as that body looks much more like that of a snake and much less a dragon.
also, the top forearm looks a little too short and bendy, but the hands are incredible.
anticipating a finish.

[color=sky blue]Good drawing... but there seems to be a lack of 'emotion' in it.
The woman also seems to be somewhat lacking in the 'detail' department.
Other than that, it's nice work!
nice design on the dragonhead...
but the womans right foot looks strage...
this wouldnt bothering me if this wouldnt be next to the focus..
nice work anyway...
THis is just beautiful.. I love it. I really like how you handled the background details and values.
The forshortning of the left arm seems a bit funky, maybe show just a little it of the forarm? seems like her upper arm is a tad too long and dissapears behind her hand unnaturally. Could be wrong though..
EnDorfin: your bright blue font is getting really annoying. The rating is pissing people off. The site already has a rating system in place, use the stars. bottom right corner of the page... I'll bet you are loving all the attention you are bringing to yourself, arent you...
I bet he is 'lovin' the 'attention' he 'gets'...
sry, Randis - couldnt resist....
Love this painting. It has a nice soft feeling to it and the grin of the snake/dragon thing is just perfect... Cant wait to see what you want to fix on an already perfect painting... Very well done!
Some people did point some disturbing points out, very good, thanks a lot! When i find some time i will fix em all.
