For my last reply, I actually saw the picture on a bad monitor, so looking at it again it's not as bad, but I think you're right about utilizing values better, cause I still think it is sort of bland. As in I think you could be more selective of where your darkest darks and lightest lights are, to give it some more punch. (:
To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.
thanks ryanoir =) You thinking of something in particular? Color? I painted the face in black and white first, and only added an overlay to hint the colors, so there is a lot of grey spots left as I haven't been too careful haha. Everything else was painted in color right away tho'. I'll try to do more drapery-studies too. It is really fun to paint =)
im talking construction brother - color & lights a bit iffy, just gotta add some more color into the whole thing, alot more warm colors to bring the eye more too the character, pretty dull at the moment.
i'd suggest on a new layer, with some bridgman handy, construct the face with just tones or line, using muscles and skull, depends how skinny the guy (or is it a girl? looks kinda feminine, might want to fix that - on the border of guy or girl thing hehe), skinny = more bone, fatter = more muscle/fat etc, but youd already know that
so yeah go go go bro bro bro
