nice sketches! I find that on your paintings and portraits the way you paint skin is a bit dull. Your paintings are lacking texture, almost as though your figures have air brushed skin.
Nice work, keep it up!
beauuuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful drawings. honestly man, your drawing are relly very good. keep posting
Sorry for whatever reason photo bucket or ca.org is rotating some of the files automatically.
Been mainly drawing this week after realizing I need to level up on my anatomy for my D&D character designs. I think doing some more portraits are in order for painting to level that up.
Gotta do a 100 this year, and I'm on number 14. Need to do some 4 to 6 hour speed paints and leave em be. I did some calculating on this thread too and I'm way behind. If I wanted to do it all myself I have to post over like 33 posts a week or something like that.
Here's a dump from one sketchbook. I'll post another dump tomorrow. Does anyone have several damn sketchbooks? Or your obsessed with them when you go to the book store and see one for 5 bucks? As well as pencils..eh I could grab one it won't hurt...yea.
I wanted to thank everyone for their really kind words.
I am starting classes as of today, with Basic Design Fundamentals, where I finally get to learn and practice composition. I am also taking Introduction to Drawing to get the other terms and tools to learn and use mentally. And Art History from 14th to late 19th century, pretty excited.
I only ever took a couple of Bobby Chiu's classes and own a bunch of books but didn't have enough time to study them in depth on a daily basis. It's its putting it mildly to say that I am exited to learn about all this stuff I love in a formal way.
Light from imagination.
woah, yeah something clicked in like the second post dude
your in TAD? sweet, that's great for you
i'm applying in June
i love these still lifes, especially the one with natural light > lamp > imagination, really cool
great heads too
keep it up dude! subscribin
awesome sb already! I myself would like to shoot for that 100 pages, looking forward to seeing more!
the still life is THE shit amazing.
about your pencils try to vary them a little more.. you can use so many ranges of your pencil.. you can use it light and thin light and thick.. you can vary the darkness etc.. it creates the illusion of depht
keep it up my friend
my Sketchbook plz help me become a better artist !
Your real life and master studies look wonderful, and it's so cool to see the improvement in the studies, and also in your freestyle work as a result. Well done!
Thanks for looking guys that really does mean a lot.
I'm getting a lot more sketching done since I have breaks before and in between classes and I have agenda in mind so it really helps keep things on track for me.
I've been listening to friends and you guys here, I'll be trying to utilize more abstraction and 'dirt' to make things have the 'appearance' of reality or detail, instead of painting every detail. We aren't cameras after all.
Doing characters from my childhood, when all my friends would come to my house just to play it on the SNES. I plan on painting them this week and doing the rest of the original cast, but we'll see how it goes eh?
great start to your sketchbook some good stuff you have going good luck with your schooling my only crit would be on some of your paintings watch out for your highlights there a little to rounded so it gives the painting an almost plastic or clay texture on the forehead, but any way im really liking your stuff keep posting
HOLY CRAP another street fighter fan!
Love what you did with vega, alternate spaniard look! He'd still fit in perfectly if he actually looked like that XD
Dude you do some of them work! I was looking for a partner for that b and n competition, but I'm afraid I would bring your level of work down.
If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all.
Ugh...I just recovered from a week of being bed ridden with the worst sore throat I've ever had. But now Im back. It was wierd.
Sandyman: Yea I haven't gotten to play all the different video games I've wanted but the Original Street Fighter II was what showed me the power of entertainment when all my friends would want to come over, and my mom only limited how many so there would be kids doing me favors just to come over on Saturday. Plus the backgrounds. They presented other worlds away from the texas sun. It holds a special place in my heart.
Heidamonster: I hope you find a partner and participate, you will grow so much from such an event so keep looking, and dont bad talk yourself or you'll believe it. Keep up the good work.
Some sketches. I really want to finish this $5 sketchbook from Borders, it has to be the worst paper I have ever used in my life. I have several moleskine's with great paper that are just waiting for me. Its kind of like a girlfriend you cant get rid of yet, you have to wait for the right time. I can let this one go when all the paper is used up. Its like I'm stuck with it...but not for long...not for long. Hot Moleskine leather is waiting
Thanks for looking guys. Kayness and I will be participating in the Nightmares and Beauty Competition. If you haven't already signed up I recommend you do so. It will be a great and rewarding experience.
I really like the master studies, but I wasn't sure about the skin. In most cases they seemed too shiny/oily in my oppinion.
Thanks for adding the step by step, it's really helpfull! Keep up the good work and you'll reach that page 40 magic way earlier than you might expect.
Self portraits in Sumi Ink and Charcoal for Intro to Drawing class. Charcoal is fun and fast fast fast. Sumi Ink is even faster. Lots of fun too, and very messy.
Clowns are inspiration from after we went to see Water for Elephants.
Crosses are quick design 'thumbs' for my friend who wanted a deltoid tattoo.
You dude, are part of the guys who have "something special".
I mean, I don't know exactly why, but there are thousands of people here who have huge skills, but only a few whose art make me feel something "special"
(That doesn't mean the others are bad, it just means the few ones are "even better" )
And I think you are part of those few people.
This is just my opinion , but I hope you will seriously go for a 100 pages thread, I will check out every single post of yours
WOW! Really inspiring and impressive stuff... I gotta follow this one!
Considering the quality of your work currently, I feel you're already approaching that clicking moment and it certainly wont take anywhere near 40 pages for your work to be in that inspirational category. Hot sketchbook so far man!
hey bro, thanks for the in depth comment on my sketchbook! i really appreciate it. it made my day (and week ) im really digging your digital renderings, theres so much control...its crazy. i cant wait till u hit page 100.....cause this stuff is going to be fkn pro as!! Yeah you really focus on the proportions and process...and it shows in your work. I also love your imagination sketches, a nice break from your portraits and master studies. I love the King master study (with the crown) And also your anatomy is solid as fuck. Great work dude...i got no doubts your going to improve even more ontop of your well established skills. peace
Okay guys I need help. This is just a quick overlay layer on black and white for ideas. Which color scheme do you like or not like and why. I have two days to paint the details and get down to bussiness, Just talkin' overall color scheme here.
Heavy critique is needed. Been spending too much time on this so I am losing track of thought and have never colored anything from my imagination before. Maybe I need to pick a better pallete than all these again, and do about 20.
Thanks ahead of time. I'll return the favor for some critique in the future.
Really nice sketchbook here Philosiflo!
You seem very competent with rendering. I think a bit of anatomy studies could really improve the quality of your figurative work, and even your other stuff like that floating skull monster.
Also, it seems to me that you may be relying a little much on softer brushes, maybe switching around may bring a sense of variety and interest to your work.
Best of luck with those TAD exercises and keep up the great work!!
Really awesome stuff man! your gonna be unstoppable at 100! ur master studies inspired me soo much, I think im gonna try me some too!
