ROUND #202 :: The Ultimate World Tournament Fighter!
The Ultimate World Tournament Fighter!
This week, you will design a character for a fighting game:
The world’s toughest fighters from all ages and all over the world are gathered to challenge each other in the Ultimate World Tournament! Who will come out on top?
Design a fighter based on a culture or country. He/she can be from any period in time.
- This is a videogame character so feel free to exaggerate: think of a good silhouette! Make your fighter stand out and recognizable!
- Design a good weapon/fighting style. Again, this can be inspired by all ages.
- Give your character a fitting name!
Who will win this ultimate challenge? Will it be Jimmy James, the American Cowboy hero? Or Yuki, the Harajuku ninja? Maybe Sir Roy, Knight of England? It’s up to you to design the best fighter!
Some inspiring ref:
SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY:
1: You must submit ONE full sized image.
2: Make sure your name and CHOW # are EASILY READABLE on your entry.
3: Use the Standard format (Below);
PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC
SAVE YOUR FILE IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT:
THE REST IS EASY:
1: No comments before poll is set. They WILL be deleted with utmost malice and petty grumbling.
2: Sit back and enjoy the show. BYOPC (Bring your own popcorn)
3: Good luck to all.
Please review these helpful reminders if you have not done so already.
ON GETTING TO POLL
NEW ROUND RULE: WIPS PLEASE!
SUBMISSION FORMAT REMINDER
PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE YOUR COPYRIGHT INFORMATION UNDER THE IMAGE IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD SO I DON'T HAVE TO HUNT YOU DOWN LATER!
Quick Check: Have You Submitted Your Chow Properly?
- is it named correctly? (ie, "CHOW#100_Oregano.jpg")
- has it been uploaded using the attachment editor?
- have you also uploaded or linked to your wips?
- have you followed the brief?

Once a fierce assassin of The Black Desert Guards, now a nomad wonderer and thief through the Arabian Impire, Al-Lesath is known for his fast and surprisingly attacks that overcome his opponents. He doesn't fight for honor but for fame and wealth, that is why he uses every trick in his sleaves to bring down his opponents. From ranged attacks to melee attacks he uses a large variety of weapons to compensate his lack of armor, longbows, polearms, throwing knives and his poison coated scimtar are his primary death bringers but rummors say that he sometimes uses the mystical art of the Dark Spiting Cobra. He now joined The Ultimate World Tournament...you better watch out for him!
I haven't seen anyone do an Australian Aborigine, so here he is.
The name comes from a resistance fighter of European rule in Australia in the 1700s. The background image represents the Aborigine flag. His special attack is the boomerang throw similar to Guile's "sonic boom". He also attacks with a traditional spear. He wears traditional markings and coating of ash on his hair and body and the typical red headband and loincloth.
This was a fun challenge!

"HAMMER" JACK - Early 1800's Welsh street brawler - with a steam powered bionic arm. Don't ask him how it works, it just does...

Meet the only member of the Ki-Ah tribe. On the skirts of New Guinea are a group of warriors. The most versatile of whom is Laki ki. Not only is she handy with an axe but she has some hidden skills of sorcery as well.
Fighting style: mixed, staff, Master of Illusion
Lethal Finishing Move: 52 Card Annihilation
With a troubled and nomadic childhood, Baron Bocheski turned to magic as an escape from his everyday life. He began performing stage shows at the age of 17 and had quite the following by the age of 25. His stage acts are known to be very entertaining and energetic which tends to keep him in shape for his age. No one is sure why or how he started fighting in tournaments. But his ability to study his opponent and find their weaknesses through distraction is uncanny. His abilities as a magician and a fighter have greatly increased in the past few years. Some say he has recently dabbled in more than just stage illusions and that it has affected him mentally as his fighting style has started to blend with his magic shows.
This arena bot had to be slowed down, as its brute force led to robot fights that were quite unsatisfying for audiences as they only lasted seconds.
This robot model is known for its intense punching power, body slams and of course, its menacing look.

Artist : Lodin
Concept : Heroes fighting arena in the future
History : During the first half of the third millennium, the U.S. deficit is still growing, and companies continued to grow.
Then in 2512 decided to globalize communications before they are no longer in power.
The first effect was the centralization of sports leagues and the emergence of the "war heroes".
Winning a competition became a major asset ... In particular with the military enlistment
The second effect was the increasing violence in sports.
At the top, one finds "the tube", a nickname given to the stage of Minneapolis, the tallest in the world.
In this arena, are fighting the most terrible war machines. The defeats often become dead.
While Asia was beginning to become dangerous, a discovery came to break the competition.
The University of Washington discovered in the fossil radiation of the universe the particles "Forton" (named after the researcher Stan Forton)
This discovery allowed enmaganiser In particular with a lot of energy in small portable generators!
Since 22 years as Sergeant Fill Nickols of the U.S. Army entered into competition, the united states did not yield any victory.
So rude and effective "the big one" provided the beginning of a century of lights to a country sank into ruin.
Now free to say what he pleases, and to the importance it takes, the army decided that the next prototype will be "a brain in a bottle without the Mouth"

Description: The Street Rat, is what they call him; not much of a name, for one of the best fighters in the world. Not much is known about his personal life, or even his real name. He was born in the ghettos of Italy, and took a liking to Japanese and African fighting styles. When studied closely though, a hint of urban fighting can be detected as well.
A mixture of what seems to be luck, and quick thinking makes The Street Rat a powerful adversary.
CAUTION: ALSO SUBMIT YOUR WIPS IN THE FINALS THREAD
Please read the rules for posting in the Finals thread!
I checked the Finals thread and noticed that many of you forgot to include (links to) the wips (work in progress).
Please add your wip images to the Finals thread or you won't make it to the poll.
Shard is from Asia. His quickness and agility defeats mussels and bulk every time. His signature move is lightning-fast spin that slices and dices with the shards of titanium which are biologically attached to his spine.
Tikahn - The Tiger Kahn, is the strongest warrior of the Mongols and it is said, that he killed a tiger with his bare hands. This became the reason for his unique fighting stile with tigerclaws attached to his gloves. Some say it resembles the chinese Kung fu Tiger stile, but it is something totally different. It is way more brutal and agressive and needs an immense amount of strenghth to be used effectively.
Name: Mr. Daniel Boyd
Fighting skills: Bartitsu, an eclectic martial art and self-defence method originally developed in England, based on the defense with a cane.

I decided to go with a design completely different than my original WIP concept. This is a 1.5 hour speed paint because I ran out of time. I really wish I could have posted it on the WIP thread to get some much needed feedback, but I just didn't have any time this week to work on it.
I ended up going with a design that incorporates different looks from different cultures. This is a guy who has fought in ever country and has learned every fighting style he's come across. He's a little bit Shaolin and Tibetan Monk, Native American Warrior, Japanese Samurai, Irish Drunk Boxer, and Bronx Street Fighter.
Hunapo A Maori warrior highly skilled with the use of the elegant but deadly Taiaha that he himself had intricately carved.
The Butcher prior to his ascent to becoming an Ultimate Fighter was a butcher of renowned skill with the blade working the seedier side of town. The Butcher never aspired to become a hand to hand combat participant until the day his little girl was kidnapped and murdered by the elusive leader of the Ultimate World Tournament Fighter organization (T.U.W.T.F.) known only as The Lotus.
Now with only revenge on his mind and his skill with a blade The Butcher has proven to be every bit as skilled in dicing up his opponents as he did in carving up a rib-eye.

Name: Tū (Tūmatauenga)
History: Even before he was born the gods seemed to favor Tū, fleeing the destruction of their village at the hands
of an enemy tribe, his mother (then 9 months pregnant) the only survivor managed to escape to her fathers village
many miles away, a journey in which the elements where unrelenting and merciless and ultimately claimed her life,
Tū however emerged in perfect health. From that point on the village elders dedicated him to the god of war himself
"Tūmatauenga" and their foresight and predictions turned out to be right as he grew to become the most feared and
respected warrior chief in the land.
Description: Tū is a warrior with no fear of death, in fact lusts for the day when a warrior greater than himself will
challenge him for his head. His 6'10 hulking frame is covered in battle scars and tattoos both a reminder of the many
wars he has fought and heads he has taken. Although skilled in unarmed combat he prefers to use a fighting staff
and his shark tooth club nicknamed "Disemboweler"
Lovin the entries so far
