@Grafguy thanks! and will try to stay on my feet next time ^^
@Flanagan yeah, lifedrawing has really helped a lot! shadows are still coming slow- always afraid of messing up when going too dark. (maybe more contrast after scanning?)
@LtPlissken *quoting Mr. Powers*- yeah baby!
@aks9 ...immortality ftw!
@mary-cherry-me yeah, natural pose is the first thing you notice about drawings, really doing some improvements there! and the finger's healing good, getting the stitches removed tomorrow.
also been missing for a week doing non drawing related stuff... finished off my casemod started in 2006 (about time) and built a christmas present for a few days (cant post that before christmas now can i? ^^)
custom-built pc case with $0 budget
more pics and info: http://blog.koivistik.com/?p=329
I was wondering whether you abandoned your SB! and that finger looks scary, hope you get well soon bro.
The custom made pc casing looks super sexy. I saw your jewelery designs as well when i went through your sb some time back. You got the talent for this so hope you do your best to strengthen it up.
Ill visit later to see how your Christmas present gonna look like. Anyways, keep up the good work and update as much as possible.
Custom PC case: How about the air flow inside ? do how have a sufficient cooling mechanism? Just wondering as this question came suddenly into my head when i was going through the design for the second time.

OH MAN! That PC case is siiickkk!!! How the hell did you do that?!?! Awesome, dude, you should sell those on ebay or somethin'.
@devastacio just fun stuff to tinker with, not taking it very seriously for airflow, the back of the case where the mobo ports are is made from mesh, theres another air behind the mobo and the top fan so should be enough
@Flanagan just a loot of patience, if youre really intertested theres a full worklog here: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=123714 selling is a no-go this alone took 4 years to complete
The figure on the top right has a great sense of forshortening. The shadows are looking nice too, but get some darker values in there to make them POP! Keep it up.
Nice sketchbook keep up the studies
have a good one
sketchbook updated October 6th
and a naked guy! I'm going to life drawing sessions twice per week and getting a little "help" in between. Pretty much all the figures ive drawn since 5th nov / page 5 have been with a live model(and a few out of mind) It sure has helped me hell of a lot!
well, been busy with all the christmas mess and lack of self discipline.
all ive got to is a few thumbnails:
a painting practice gone horribly wrong composition/detail-wise
EDIT: Time to think outside the box:
And heres that christmas present i made... firefly FTL drive! since we both liked the show and she needed a night-light i thought that this might be fun- old webcam, sanded baby food jar, aluminium thingies, some mesh and copper. Hell, i even had to solder the led circuit board together myself since i couldnt find any ready made products. looks pretty nice though - 6 colors and flickers like a candle. could be a bit brigher though.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Ive been lazy too. didn't update since today. he he. Hey the spaceship thing; Try reworking this as it seems interesting. SO instead of completely abandoning it, go for a different composition. do some value and vignette tests before painting as it would help and save you the frustration of repainting.
Man, You and these designs! im so Intrigued. whats next? a USB washing Machine? just kidding . Seriously good work. I want your PC casing
keep up the good work mate. Will drop by later to see your progress.
wow incredible idea for the Firefly FTL drive. Really nice work, hope you've had a good christmas anyway!
edit: hahah just saw your pc case. Quality.
Just seen your finger- woahhh. Bet that hurt. xD
And you're still drawing! Good work.
Last bunch of concept drawings are looking bloody good, really interesting stuff you're coming up with lately- can't wait to see more.
Time to think outside the box - definitely like that one.
The firefly FTL drive looks intriguing.
But I am not sure that I understand the purpose?
What does it exactly serves for?
@devastacio yeah, the space ship is neat. perhaps il try more as you said. as for the steampunk gadgetry... its just real fun to tinker with ^^
@Naidy didnt hurt at all...just went all numb... shock + alcohol ftw!
LtPlissken its a nightlight to give the room a bit of light to find the bathroom at night its supposed to look as some kind of a prop from the show firefly... ftl=faster then light (drive)
and i have been extremely unproductive... christmas, business in town, went snowboarding... the whole body hurt the next 2 days so ive been mostly trying to stay put. only managed to forced these few things out of my head today:
I like these new concepts. Creatures may be looking odd but they look interesting. Thsts good enough for me. Please detail them and render them mate.
Well, Just dropped by to Wish you a Happy New Year mate. Hope you'll have a wonderful one.
Keep posting and keep up the good work.
@devastacio odd was what i was aiming for! ^^ will try to render them since you asked so nice... no promises though its hard to render them so tiny- the bunny guy is just a bit taller then 1cm / 0,4" (really got to start drawing big)
well, after switching to learning eviro, ive become super slow... its kind ow confusing when you dont know where to start. it was kind of the same with figure drawing (constant life drawing fixed that)
anyways. picked up some calligraphy ink and oooh boy it has been fun today! using size 2 brush and just playing around... loosens up the hand and gives lots of thumbnail sketches to work with... will migrate to photoshop tomorrow and see if i can make anything out of these...
really hard worker i like the PC even i don't what is it usful in?
The last update looks good artwork with ink technique
keep you imagination up and enjoy your art practicing

Hey these ink stuff are great. i dont know how to explain it but they got some really cool look. Im thinking; could use some cheap ink and splatter em around to make some cool PS brushes eh?
btw i would like to see more serious work from you. i guess you haven't done any in some time.
Keep up the good work. ill visit later to see more work of yours.
@qlotzan the pc's case is just supposte to look gook good, nothing useful i guess... started it back in 2006 when i was all hyped up by casemodding. will do my best to keep motivated and draw draw draw!
@devastacio yup, in is pretty... if only i could do more then just splatter around. finished pieces are definitely in order... got to get some stuff done for my school portfolio.
@LtPlissken ink can really be a bitch but experiments are damn fun!
As promised, i worked on some of the thumbnail sketches been polishing the bastard for 2 days but still got long way to go... its slow but im learning lots since i havent painted much in photoshop. thumbnail i used is bottom left on from the last image in the last post... looks nothing like the outcome but oh well...
Hey hey now, this looks tight! i like it a lot. No crits for now. guess you have done a great job so far. Hope youll be doing a super fine job in lighting and shadows because i think its really necessary.
Well i definitely drop by later to see this piece finished. Dont rush it. just do your best
@devastacio yeah!, polished it a bit more and the lack of lights and shadows is really starting to feel :/
@Naidy thanks! and yeah, spacecrafts are fun! i guess i didnt really do much imaginative stuff when i started but that slowly changing!
@LtPlissken needs moar polishing! XD (in progress atm)
@Diarum aye aye captain!
no updates today! going to denmark (again) for 6 months in about 32h so ive been busy busy busy preparing and such (most likely busy for the next few days too considering all the travel and settling in.) I will be taking a semester in "folkhojsklole" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_high_school during that will also be the trials for the art school i want to go to so perhaps il stay for another 4 year afterwards
night ya all!
