Thanks for stopping by my sb Sin Eater. You have some great progress here man. I think doing some more value and color studies from life will help you to improve your work from imagination quicker then working from photo ref. I love the experimentation of style as well Keep working hard!
Looking back at page 1 where you have beautifully rendered in ballpoint referenced pictures and then the referenced pictures more recent, there has been a deterioration. This is not always bad news as you've been learning the structure before drawing. I think it's great that you've gone from a perfect xerox machine to someone who think about what they're doing. Relearning is never easy, but the end results should be much better. It will also make the difference between referenced material & imaginative stuff a lot closer.
@Ninjac- thanks man. i really need to start life drawings. i guess i will start soon .
@Feil Magnus- thanks . yeah i will look out for the proportion issues. Trying to get the hang of doing things out of mind.
@DStraX- ah thanks a lot . I mostly do studies from michael hampton books and references taken from characterdesign.com , or mostly random google searches
@Black Spot- haha yeah i noticed that as well. before i used to copy what i see without ever trying to solve. but now that i solve more, i sometime lose focus from the reference picture and try to add stuff by instinct more than whats on the picture. I have not been able to do portrait which is very close to the reference sadly . I need to practice a lot more. But thanks a lot for pointing that out. I will keep in mind
@Lyraina- thanks a lot for dropping by.
i have not beenm posting for a month. just been slow . i have been working on a sculpt on and off so these are some wip images done in zbrush, i am trying to figure out what kind of detais to give to the sculpt. i ll be posting more as i go further. and then a portrait of kakihara from ichi the killer . i shall post regular again. thanks for looking, any suggestions are more than welcome.
@LtPlissken- thanks man. sure thing. i am planning to texture it , lets see how it goes
just some hand studies and the demon update.
It is always a problem for me to think both design and functionality wise,. Sometimes even if the design looks appealing but there is no function or use for it whatsoever, which confuses me a lot.For this demon sculpt, This is as far as i pushed the design . I put some scales on his eyebrows but i am not sure how that will affect him expression wise(he will always have to give the same look i suppose :|) . But i am pretty much happy with how it turned out. may be i could have pushed it even more but what the heck. Now onto minute detailing and then texturing.
I don't know ichi the killer, but his mouth is straight on while the rest of his face isn't. While the demon is nice, it would be better it made a more generic face to see what you've learnt. Too many times I see people drawing fantastic creatures and failing to get the basic human form. It may be cool, but are you learning?
LtPlissken- thanks a lot
fenixx- haha still got a lot more to learn. your line quality is getting awesome with each post .
black spot- I see what you mean. I shall start sculpting basic human anatomical sculpt soon. Actually i have done quite a few before but i never uploaded them , they always appear too wrong to me that only means i need more practice and i will get to it. Thanks a lot for your input. I appreciate it .
Sorry for my lack of updates. I went back home for holidays and i dont have access to my tablet. So i am trying to practice more traditional stuff. Here is a self portrait i made with a little zombification XD. I shall be more regular for the ass kicking i need. Thanks a lot for looking even if i am not regular at all . I shall be =.=
That's very striking, but I'm going to recommend you study perspective for a bit. You're still drawing surface, even if your penmanship is wonderful.
Black Spot- yeah i shall do that . thanks again.
Ltplissken- haha thanks as always
here is another portrait i made for a friend but this does not look like here at all . spent 8 hours but does not have any similarities. Not gonna show it but thought i ll upload anyways. XD I did learn a little more about water colors though. I am so bad at those oh well. need more practice
some studies is all
nothing much for today, just a study
I always liked your pencils skills and
how you do your studies.
But watch for this last character,
it's surely a bit shorter than it should be,
just remember the eight head rule.
Either way, you are doing great,
and it's always a pleasure to visit
Nice form on that last one even if he's a bit under the 7 heads high.
Even if that portrait of your friend didn't turn out like her, it's quite striking, so don't dismiss it entirely. Have you redone it yet, and if not, why not?
@LtPlissken- haha i agree. i always mess up the proportions when i am drawing too close or in a big paper. i tried to cover it up . thanks a lot for dropping by , keeps me going
@blackspot- thank you for for that. Just dint try it again . I will redo it soon enough. and this time i ll try to make it look like her XD. thanks again for dropping by.
Trying to get quicker and and trying to get the form with lesser strokes.
Not much work today , just few studies.
trying to get faster digitally. Tried out very fast paintings without blending. just chose colors. Portrait looks a bit distorted i know but what the heck XD . Better i shall be =.=
@gthm/death- Heh thanks
SOrry for today's crappy stuff.
@ltplissken- haha you make me day everytime, thanks a lot
Tried a human head sculpt, any critiques are welcome.
I agree with gautham, those two portraits look awesome! Esp the zombie one, nice going
And for the head sculpt, did you try to elongate the neck on purpose? And I thought that very prominent crease behind the neck wasn't needed, that is, if you're sticking with sculpting a regular athletic guy..
You've got good line quality. I've got a lot to learn about studying anatomy from your sketchbook.. Esp about keeping the underlying muscles nd bones in mind while drawing.. Keep going with those studies They're getting better by each post..
Hello! I'm trying to improve my artwork and I really could use your critique - S k e t c h b o o k
@Sharon J - Thanks . Ah i see what you mean there. It kinda looked fine to me at first but now that i see it does look longer. And i have this bad habit of just defining muscles even for normal looking guy . I will make it look more natural. thanks for the crit .
Some studies and quick doodles and stuff from head. I really need to learn speed painting, i suck at them.
