I came in expecting to get some sweet knowledge that would help boost me along and be smarter about my artwork, but instead I got some utterly astounding knowledge that I can tell is going to immensely benefit my entire career in art. This class had some totally invaluable information, particularly the section on transitioning from student to professional. It presents some great ideas that really help get your mind set in the right place, I would definitely recommend checking it out on demand!
Huge thanks to Jason and all the phenomenal instructors that were there who put this together! I couldn't possibly imagine a better way to spend a Saturday.
Time to draw!
aww man can't belive i forgot about it ...now watching the pre recorded
It was awesome! Thanks again for everything, guys!
To everyone who didn't make it on time: go watch it O-D if you haven't seen it yet~
I would like to thank all involved for donating their time. The advice given was terrific and I would even go as far to say that some points will be career, possibly life-changing. Thanks doubly for personally answering my question. To know that so many established and accomplished artists suffer from the same self-doubt in the course of their career is an eye-opener.
Thanks also to Noah Bradley for recommending "Art & Fear". It's already in my basket at Amazon.
I'm now seriously considering enrolling at VLP. This workshop has really whet my appetite.
Guys and Gals,
Thank you all for sitting through our presentation. I am posting links to the sites mentioned during the talk for those of you who are interested.
See you all somewhere down the line!

Thanks to everyone for doing this, I havent even started watching the OnDemand yet but just loading it up and looking at the Instructor list.
It really amazes that you can be in contact with and get teaching from such an amazing selection of artists. It really does make me appreciate the wonders of whats going on with TAD, VLP and Illustration academy.
Amazing, it really is.
Thanks to everyone who makes this stuff happen, even if I dont get to see any of it. Its amazing that you guys can do this and help people in such an amazing way.
Keep up the amazing work.
Okay, so let me get this straight. I just downloaded Elluminate Live a while ago and noticed it's entirely in audio and did see a Closed Captioning option in one menu but the source is not available. I don't see any video except for slideshow clips in still frames.
What you have is nice but I have struggled to understand what they were saying even though closed captioning is'nt available :/. The sound quality is good when using a headphone but when I try to adjust my hearing aid, I tend to miss out on other things time to time and that can be very frustrating to me.
The workshop (Taste of TAD) went well today! We had over 300 in the room at one time, this was a first. Although we experienced some technical issues because of the size of the class, the technology still served the class well. The technology did not hinder the superb content.
It is also a first that this is going to be a regular (monthly event) on the VLP site! This will give the subscribers the opportunity to communicate verbally at real time with the faculty and others subscribers. The VLP subscriber will benefit not only by the monthly classes, but also from the additional instructors that are lending their involvement to the site!
I thank everyone involved with todays class and a special welcome to Brad Rigney and Marshall Vandruff!
thanks guys! it was awesome to take part in the livestreaming

I have a problem with watching on demand: It refuses to download all the way and Elluminate Live gives me an incomplete download+inconsistent timestamp error. I can only watch up to the 44 minute mark.
I had a great time during the class. There was a lot of good dialogue to absorb plenty of information from. I was already interested in the VLP, but I think this put me over the fence. Kind of intimidating to think of showing my art in the VLP forums, as I don't think it is at that high of a level, but that probably means I'd just have more to gain.
This is the msg I get everytime I try and use the link at the top of the thread:
Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Any ideas why? Can I access it later or is there a problem?
Finally got all the way through but at the end it says unable to open URL when I'm in the Elluminate screen at the ending.. says unable to open URL and unable to open audio recording.. blah.
Thank you for the interest in our program, I am glad you found todays class informative!
Todays class had a lot of information on making the leap from student to professional. The first step is to stop viewing yourself as a student and put yourself in the company of professionals. Only compare your work to the work that is being publish in the industry.
The VLP is loaded with driven students and professionals that are trying to grow and learn. The moderators in todays class all frequent the forums with more participants on the way. As I mentioned in the class we focus on the positive when delivery crits and offer solutions.
In addition to the forums there is a library of 34 demonstrations with 16 more soon to be added. The many of the new videos focusing on concept art and the entertainment art field. Also, the site is populated with like minded individuals that focus on pursuing picture making. The VLP is a friendly community which makes it easy to communicate and form relationships.
Thanks again for the interest and hope to see you on the site!
Great! Will try to join every saturday, if not I'll watch after the event.
Where do I watch it online??
When I click this link that's been shared in the first post, it only asks me to open a file and when i do, "Java web start 1.2" appears... then disappears and no video or anything starts up ;~;
Can anyone help me, telling where am I going wrong?

That was such a great inspiring class. I signed up straight away to the VLP which looks like it's going to be a great tool for getting my scholarship application for TAD next year (January). I'll be using it to get critiques from the likes of George Pratt and John English as well as Sterling.. man there are so many artists in there willing to dole out info. I'm almost afraid to post!
Thanks again to all involved. If you haven't watched it already get on it now and for one thing see how differently you will approach the work flow of every piece you work at from now on!
Hi guys. I have a technical question too. When I try to open the java application, it tells me there's a error. Something about malformurl link error, security exception thingamajigy. Any idea what that is?
Thanks for doing this series! Great lineup, inspiring stuff! (And a really excellent deal for those of us on a budget...)
The first one was eye-opening and fun, in spite of the video incident... I picked up much new food for thought (and got confirmation that I'm doing at least a couple things right. Yay.) Definitely going to try to catch the next ones, live or on demand.
Now to check out those links...
I think it's great that the Elluminate Live audio streaming is useful for many people on this site as an educational forum to learn new things and attain feedback. I would hope that they can fix the closed captioning tool because it was not streamed because I'm hard of hearing. I know it's there but it was'nt utilized. I would say that closed captioning should be already recorded and not wiped out after the live session.
You guys are awesome
Looks like I'm not the only one having issues with the on-demand option. Some clarification here would be great...
