Ive done a cover art for fantasy book "Przekraczając Granice" (Breaking Borders) for polish book publisher. Its about girl from our word dragged by force to another dimension where magic exist and world looks like our medieval. All comments are most welcome.
cool...but honestly I think you should lose this cigarette, or put it at a different angle. It's kind of distracting and takes away from the feel of the piece. If she's a bad ass and a smoker, then she might have it from the side of her mouth or something, but it just looks off. nice render though and great detail!
Also I feel there should be a little more shadow on the exposed leg, just in the top right area, b/c that dress is pulled up, yet still in front of the leg, making the shadow appear. Just a thought. again nice work.
It's great, but *why* is she lifting up her skirt? If she had a gun holster down at her boot or strapped to her leg, the whole image would make perfect sense--as it is the skin just feels gratuitous.
Thanks for advices! Ill improve this definitely.
nice concept - well executed......only thing is that i feel the urgent need to tie her shoe laces up for her... hehe
"resistance is Futile!!!"
The cigarette for me is like one thing too many too. She doesn't need pigtails, and a gun, and glasses, and an ipod, AND a cigarette. I like the hair tho--it doesnt strike me as a wig.
I also agree there should b more reason for pulling up the dress. You could just put the dress down and her hand is down by her side. But I have another idea besides the holster which was also a good idea tho; maybe the wind is blowing her dress and shes holding it down, but shes just too cool to be leaning over and holding it all the way down.
Great work. I like the colors, the textures on her dress.
I agree with the critics on this thread and im sure youŽll do an awesome painting on your next work

I think it's fantastic and people are being overly critical. Depending on the printed size of the cover- assuming it's smaller than the preview you have here- everything will look tight-even the hair. That said the only thing to improve in my oppinion is the finish quality of the hair-BUT I kinda like the rugged look it has now, a little messed up-maybe a little dirty, like her life has been interupted and been through an adventure.
I like it.
