"its a sign" ha ha. nice end product man. and those paint studies are great
I like how you seam to really focus on construction in your sketches. Something I should take wisdom from.
SKETCHBOOK below. C&C appreciated! UPDATED 21/04 2011
I love that robot/soldier concept you're working on. I WANT TO SEE MORE CONCEPTS FROM YOU- because there's a whole lot of interesting stuff in that head of yours, it seems.
Like the page of gun studies too, reminds me I should look at weapons more myself.
Annnd I said it before, but your sketches are fantastic. Keep posting!
JamesSimons: And knowing is half the battle!
Velocity Kendall: unfortunately my image of war is heavily skewed towards WW2 and that was one of my bases for the concept. WW1 never even crossed my mind. I like the idea of them being in space though, very gundam! As for amazing images, I had a go but I think amazing will have to wait a bit longer
fudgeloaf: Thank you, as for the challenge I had a go but failed. Fail now to succeed later though, right?
teapo: Thank you!
Jeremy Swan: Danke Schön!
CornMan: Danke! It's become a bit of a habit to draw like that . Give it a bit of time and you'll hardly have to think to construct, you'll just do it!
Naidy: Thank you! It might be a bit before I do another big concept like that. I get a bit caught up in projects, which means studies take a back seat and vice versa. So for a bit it's study time!
tronrobot: Thank you! I like things that are boss!
Happy Easter/heaps of chocolate day!everyone!
Some figure paintings from this past week!
The failed challenge! it was a photo study that I painted the units on to!
And the weekly sketches, did quite a bit of drawing from Gottfried Bammes' Der nackte mensch (The naked man!)
really nice studies, diggin all of it man, just keep them coming!
Hey bruce! The sheer amount of studies you and your dude-bro's have been pumping out is extremely impressive. I've noted some major leaps from page 1 to 4 and thats a beautiful thing. Love the amount of humor in your work, and your ideas are really creative.
I like what you've been doing from the Bammes book, looks like there is some good info in it, i need to track it down for myself.
Killer work again, keep up your studies and you'll be going places
Hey thanks so much for the comments on my sketchbook. Nyaw pity you can't come to the course, they've been having competitions for tickets. There may still be some going!
You're work has really come a long way, you've got a great feel for male and female anatomy, you've got all the key features down. Lets see them in more action, settings and moods. I love the corgi head dog small things like that with a little bit of digital colour are a great way to fill the sketchbook and practice without spending 12 hours on one piece. That would be the only thing I can really pick on, more digital and traditional colouring.
It's great to see other artist in aus, especially at my back door. So tell me more about yourself?
JamesSimons: Meinn! Mein! Meinnnnn!!!!
adamsimons: Good fight being fought! sir!
Jeremy Swan: Danke! Will do!
Sean McClain: Thank you!
AustenFM: Danke Schön! It's always nice to hear that ones hard work is working!
fudgeloaf: Thank you! I think I need to do some landscape studies before trying another one!
As for the figure paintings I've attached an image with the process! The first week of the discovery program has a movie (which I think you can get from the VLC) and a print out that explains it in a bit more detail!
Jaunay: Thanks! I think the competition ended long before I even found out about it!
Doing more coloured work is something I need to get to and doing smaller pieces like you suggest might be the way to go! Now I just need to get over the feeling that my next piece needs to be the best ever!
Man you must have a long house if I'm at your backdoor, some 230Km away About me ay! I'm like an old man of this world without being old, moustache, chin beard, long hair, love art/drawing!, like physical culture. Did I mention drawing! and art. I also have a dog!
Didn't get as much done as normal, want to Adelaide for a few days to see Wicked. Defiantly worth it if anyone is thinking about it
First up is the steps for how I've been doing the figure paintings!
next is a ink piece I did recently, it's a life drawing plus some inspiration from Terada!
And the sketchbook pages. Some more Bammes, some Ronnie, some anatomy from mind and life, some women and some Arnold!
These are great. I see lots of potential in your drawings. Keep it up man.
It's not often I find myself laughing at studies. You always manage to sneak something funny in there (like Mr.DogwithBULGINGMUSCLES-OHGOD). Think it shows you're finding ways to keep studies interesting for you. I like it.
Annd I can understand putting studies first. You're making some great progress so far. You can only get better from here on!
bruce!!! the figure drawings are beautiful... life or reference? no matter, they are great nonetheless! i greatly appreciate the steps in which you approach these and i don't think it's cheating that you painted in the reflected lights afterwards... just shows your knowledge on lighting
keep it up! and i love the employment of your frog/bot characters into the photo study :3
JamesSimons: "I'm not ugly, I'm beautiful, it's what the body's supposed to look like!"
krenx: Thanks man, will do!
adamsimons: Hopefully I can have one as good as the hugster someday!
Naidy: It's nice to hear you've gotten some enjoyment out of my drawings, you know I don't even think about it most of the time but it's along the lines of the kind of art I want to create, fun, happy and sometimes a little bit badass!
fudgeloaf: Thanks, I thought the discovery course was quite imformative!
Sean McClain: Danke Schön!
teapo: Thanks man! The figure paintings and any of the drawings that are any good are from photos! closest life drawing that I know of is about 2:30hr away! and I've got no license! I do want to make a trip at some time in the future though!
Had a bit of a slower week but I've decided to join the CGHUB & Imagine FX Bobby Chiu's Fairytales Re-Imagined challenge (link to my thread), so over the next 3 months I hope to put alot of work into it and take my finishing/illustrating skills to a new level! I'll post my latest progress here when I update but will probably update my thread there more frequently.
Here's what I have at the moment, just a few sketches. I'm exploring the story of Iron Hans and pied piper at the moment!
And my sketchbook pages from this past week!

JamesSimons: why? are you afraid we’ll get killed? don’t forget this is our backyard! but anyway we’ll be more careful.
adamsimons: Thank you, but that song most certainly is not neat
tehmeh: Danke Schön! Glad you like it
