Hi guys, been lurking for a while.
Trying to finish this thing amongst huge college assignments is tough. Please relay to me your input regarding this piece.
It's depicting two alien species of mine. The centered creature is being attacked by a pack of predators. (second picture are a few concepts of the creature - the design isn't fully complete yet, so I've changed things in the top picture as I see things needing change)
There are earlier WIP pictures in my portfolio, but you don't need to see them.
Nice stuff, although I like the sketches more than the painting. The painting is too green for me... and green is my favorite color. You might want to work some purple into some of the shadows, especially in the background.
Anyways, welcome to the fray!

I agree with both of the previous posts. I think you have a good start on the painting and I like the pen and ink work. I think that the lighting and composition is a bit off in the painting right now.
At first glance, I totally missed the predatory creature pouncing on it's back. Right now it's blending into the background, which is sad because I think it's my favorite part of the painting so far. I think part of the difference between this and Doug Henderson as Kiera pointed out is that this looks staged with foreground foliage tucked neatly into the corners. Nature is not quite so accommodating.
I also find the creature under his front leg a bit distracting...I can't quite figure out what is going on here...did he already hit the creature on the head? Is he about to hit him on the head? Is he currently hitting him on the head? How did that guy get under there anyways...looks like a bad place to be laying down? I would think it would work better if the leg looked like it had more wait on it (by changing the angle of the shoulders), and if you stood the other creatures hind end up it could look more like a surprise hit.
Just my two cents.
