Marian - good advice marian and I definitely agree with you! I am still working on that painting but its taking a little longer than I thought (really out of practice) so it will be a few days before I post it yet.
Andy - cheers buddy
devastacio - Seriously you are too kind. I am nowhere close to achieving pencil mastery, but if anyone tells you that pencil's aren't great in the long run then definitely don't listen. Pencil is one of the simplest mediums but used properly I think can be one of the most beautiful. I'll keep working towards improvement so thanks for stopping by (and rating!)
Silwynar - oops double post. doesn't matter anyway. Thanks for commenting, I hope I managed to help you somehow on your sb.
Ok.. so working more on proportions I took 6 of my good friends from facebook (out of the hundreds of ones I haven't spoken to in years) and drew them in my moleskine for around 20 mins each. Working again on proportions. I am FINALLY, after almost a year of drawing, starting to be able to achieve a decent likeness! Woooop wooop
Definitely proud of achieving the level of experience needed to get a likeness. Obviously I can still work on a lot of proportions, as almost every line will be slighlty off in either angle or length. BUT its a start
Portraits +5 xp
Very nice pencils. I like they way you convey value with so few strokes.
One of those faces in the last drawing looks like Mel Gibson to me. Good stuff!
Everything is better with dinosaurs.
Nice pencil studies. Those landscapes are great, keep it up.
And about the card game, they were looking for artists, so i send my portfolio to them. I did a test illustration and they liked it
I´ve done almost 80 illustration for them

Finally finished http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=238380
Congrats for getting to a level to achieve a likeness
on a characters face.
Huh, longer time haven't been here, and I can see
that you are working and posting like a madman.
Good job buddy. Keep it up like this, will catch ya later.
How did you know my only weakness is Samuel L Jackson!? I can't help but repeatedly visiting your sketchbook based soley on your thumbnail image. I'm glad i do though, incredible work. I really like the pencil characters! Keep it up!
Really busy right now, but this is what I've been up to today (partly). A little more work on the Carry on poster. I've just painted out the other characters for now as the majority was on Sid.
More to come later I'm sure and some replies to all these comments when I've read them!
Good stuff. I kind of want to see what sort of fantastical, non reality stuff you can draw too. You seem miles ahead of me, so carry on.
FEED THE SKETCHBOOK
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Nobody made good art by coloring in between the lines.
AeonPhoenix - yeah me too. I will dish some out soon but at the moment I am focusing entirely on becoming technically accomplished. This is because I start a work placement as an illustrator of plants and animals in March and for that they prize accuracy and a keen eye rather than imaginative work of that sort. Trust me though, this sketchbook is going to be full of it in the future!
Kendall - haha glad to hear you like him. That was a paint I did aggges and aages ago now but am still very proud of (it was a fluke in other words lol)
LtPlissken - thanks as usual!
jsn - thanks for stopping by. Your sb is coming along well too!
Luk999 - Wow very impressive. If you don't mind me asking how did you find out about their need for an artist? I have no idea where to start looking for things like that. I'm assuming its paid?
Brandon Pilcher - its just one of my friends from home, but I'm sure he would be happy somebody said that
FUSHANDCHUPS - thanks for the kind words
I spent most of my day on these portraits and they are crap compared to yesterday's for no apparent reason. Saying that, I chose much harder reference shots to push myself.
And some from a friend's house I went to tonight. Just quick looose stuff to get me thinking, but this time (thanks andy) INCLUDING faces too.

teapo - yeah you're definitely right about the low low low quality of the facebook photos. Its ok to do some quick outline stuff like that last post, but more than that its crap.
qlotzan - haha thanks man, I'll stop by your sketchbook sometime soon again to see how things are going
Catish - right.. haha ok cheers
Ok so I decided to make a little casual return to digital painting. I'm not going to go hardcore and do it all day everyday as I want to remain focused on improving my core skills of drawing from life, studies and life drawing. I stumbled upon Jaime Jones' sketchbook again this morning and that is really what prompted me to try my hand at digital again (after almost two months I think now)
All from today, and I've even managed to find time to see a few friends (although returned back to the house in the evening to study more!
2/ Landscape of my own from photo
3/ Special forces paint
4/ Another Jaime study
5/ Life drawing of a banana peel from today
6/ Rough Sargent study.
wow man a lot of improvement being seen
your colors and brush economy are getting stronger
always cool seeing those sketchbook pages aswell
keep it up Thomas
sketchbook updated October 6th
Hey man these pieces are looking great. 4th from top is my favorite, lovely colors.well done mate!
reason i dropped in here is to let you know this book is simply amazing (if you dont have it already). One of my friends just sent me this through amazon, as a gift. Man! delicious pencils!
Very nice pencils mate. The painting studies show very good stroke economy and eye for color. Also the artists you study prove that you have very good taste.
Keep building that mileage.

Sivonja - haha yeah I don't think there is a time of the day when I don't feel like doing something in pencil. I love colour too but for now I'm sticking with graphite until I've approached a decent level!
Wow thanks for the huge support over the past few days. I haven't updated in 2 or 3 because I have been to two life drawing classes and drawn on huge paper. I can't scan those in so have to wait for the daytime. Finally done that now.
Many of these are studies from Jaime Jones, one of my favourite artists on CA. If you feel like seeing more of his work you can go to his website too:
Anyway, some of mine and some of his. Learning slowly.
Personally I am reaching for something between Jaime and Kevinwueste's style. Both are lightyears ahead of me but its always good to aim high!
awesome my friend i like the way of your nudity sketches
keep it up and focus more on details
