lionheartGFX: Thanks for the compliments and the link! I'll definitely use that one instead of quickposes.com
In todays update, I'm very pleased with the last head (my best one yet?) and the last pose. (Pose on the bottom sheet says 15, not 45!)
Yeah, great work with the head and body studies! I think the last one is very good (as you mentioned) and so are the first head in #119. The ‘Posemaniacs’ are really nice, I think you learn fast.
Good job with the body balance and the proportions in the last body studies in # 121. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re improving!
Thanks for visiting my sketchbook.
You got some really nice studies dude, just keep doing more.
Wow great improvements! Gotta say, your tilted cube in #105 helped me a lot perspective-wise.
Please give watercolors a try! They are fun, quick and messy and make you think about... color, maybe a change from your pencils. Just aim higher than mine
Thanks for visiting my sketchbook.
Really great studies man, you got a good sense of form.
Need to get a few shapes to draw form myself.
I agree with dumbnudge it'd be interesting to see you upload a bit of colored work as well.
Thanks for the support, everybody!
Between exams, some shoulder troubles and christmas there's been little time for drawing, but I should be back and updating regularly now!
Still lifes, some with aquarelle pencils and a couple heads from mind.
Those heads are coming along nicely. It's great to see that you're really truly trying to understand how heads actually work. Nevertheless, don't forget to draw heads in odd angles as well and not just in 3/4 view. You'll be surprised by what you can learn by doing so. Thanks for also reminding me that I could always do still life studies solely in pencil.

MY SKETCHBOOK, COMMENT & CRITIC THE SHIT OUT OF ME
ozark: Thank you! Yeah, I've not been going outside my comfort zone with heads for a while, but I will soon.
Working on understanding perspective and construction, and some anatomy stuff focusing on getting a grip on the volumes. And yes, that head is super-wonky.
CA is back! So hard to find cool pencils to look at other places. Here's the stuff I'm most happy with from the past week:
Hey man I like that one of your Bridgman drawings knows a bit of Latin lol , I took it myself for about 4 years and found it to be extremely useful.
I had heard that posemaniacs was good for gesture drawings but kind of didn't portray the way muscles work the right way. But then I've heard that people like Michael Hampton recommend using it for some things. I was wondering what your thoughts on it are given that you're using it.
I am still jealous of your linework >_<

Hey, Dichotomy, thanks for the comment! About posemaniacs, although I draw the muscles in these, I mostly use it for getting an understanding and feeling of the volumes in the body. Come to think of it, it would be more logical to just skip the muscles and do the rough volumes, as it would be quicker.
Here are a few studies and some doodles.
Thank you very much, Dan! That's some heavy praise I don't feel I deserve, but I'll try to earn it
Here's some torso doodles from the last few days, pretty much all from head except for the flashlight (yes, that's what it is). Will do some proper studies so I've got something better to post later.
E: Things I see I do wrong:
-I consistently push the stomach forth instead of tilting the pelvis
-too short neck
-too long stomach/short rib cage
-too clumpy deltoids
Any other things you notice?

Doodles and a few studies. Some heads from life.
hey, it's been a while.
You're doing really well, lots of improvement, I especially like the still life drawing of the cups, good ellipses

Thanks for the reply in my sketchbook; It was very helpful. I like that most of your studies are from life. Helps you to better evaluate what you are drawing instead of just coping from photos.
Your right looking at Loomis to study heads. That's a great resource. I would also recommend Bridgman's "Complete guide to drawing from life".
I saw that you did gesture studies at Posemaniacs. Great for understanding the essential anatomy of the figure. But I would reccomend sites like quickposes.com and lovecastle.org. They use pics of actual models.
vatteh: Thanks for stopping by, and for the suggestions I've been using more proper refs lately, and got Bridgman's book for christmas, so I'm with you!
Your heads are looking boss now, you have a nice style developing with them too! Your hard work is really paying off.

Gee, you're on fire! Really cool improvement! I'm just gonna hide 'til I catch up to you
great improvement, inspiring, no suggestions for now, just don't stop
4 months, no post? Damnnnnn, and the last reply was "just don't stop." Haha, oh well.
Not been drawing much, but here's some crude photoshop attempts at correcting some of my heads, as well as some skull studies.
Damn, I tilt pretty much all my heads.
Super inspiring stuff man! I love your animals and studies. Keep it up!

Criticism much appreciated
Still lifes and figures look great!
Crits and help of any kind are more than welcome!
Some stuff from this week. Should do more life and construction stuff. Too much guessing going on when I build shapes.
