Just an idea. Maybe it's something the developers in Corel could do in a near future update. Who thinks they should bring a patch update to give some of the basic interface a lil' tweak? I think their bleed and resaturation adjustment can be improved a lot. I don't know about Opacity. I have a much smoother adjusting time in Photoshop; Painter is so boringly stiff with these elements.
What do you all think. Should it get a patch like this or is it good as is? Patch, or Improved Painter 12?
I have no idea about bleed/resaturation issues that you have, settings for those are pretty clear and simple;
did you check the "well" tab in brush settings window?
you can bind both bleed/resat to pen pressure (or inverted pen pressure, for example) to get less static and stiff results;
+ adjust your brush tracking accordingly, painter brushes may behave incorrectly if your tracking is off/doesn't work with your painting habits. (idk how to phrase this thing better, sorry)
opacity - yes, that's something that has been mentioned in painter
flamewarsdiscussions since ever, I have no idea what v. 12 is bringing in that sense;
right now there're some workarounds (like using digital watercolour, or using scratchboard tool with low opacity to get a similar "photoshop"-like feel), but they don't produce the same effects that a basic round brush in PS can due to different approach to opacity in those two packages.
You're a little bit too optimistic about opacity changes coming within a single patch, unless it's in the works for painter 12 already.
on the fourth day of glitchmas my painter™ gave to me
four random crashes, three broken brushes, two system hangups & one corrupted workspace
There was also the Real Markers category, but still same problems. Tinting was another category frequently used
