That's why it's great that you're pushing yourself to drawn one!
Never get better unless you break through boundaries.
Usually I believe topics should be either gender, so as to keep creativity flowing. But Kitsunes are always female from in anything I've read.
Ruined - I love the pattern on the dress! Can't wait to see more.
The head will be in fox form and what i have now would best be described as the skull with out the snout. If that makes since, but yes the head will be bigger.
Here's an early WIP:

Alright new wip...
Enlarged the head a little bit... and shortend the legs and made them skinnier.. also made the part of the buttocks that you can see smaller.. and brought her hips in slightly... the arms will stay the same length as now she has a slightly eire unantural feel... Evil...
Also the thingy on her forehead... I BELIEVE is the Kanji for anger. Feel free to correct me if any of you know that stuff better...
Timothee, I can't see your image, it just says 404-IMAGE NOT FOUND on my end.
@Naphtali, that's the less commonly used form of 'anger', but don't worry about it being wrong. 怒 is a more common alternative.

Sorry about that, it should work now.

last wip fo the night will ahve more tomorrow!
Adam: i love her! shes simply stunning, looking forward to the full renders!
My contribution for the night. My designs and some thumbnails for the final piece. I love designing sexy femme fatales that lure men to their doooooom!
I pulled designs from classic geisha wear and traditional kabuki garb. I want her to reflect the culture. I purposely made her really long and slender, for more effect.
Going to start on the final ver soon.
most of the sketch is now finished!
Thinking a small story to this one, a rich merchants wife always goes to the pond to relax. only hes noticed laterly there are less and less fish in the pond ...
I have a lil question: I came up with a story to accompany the character, do I have to post it along the image or it is just something I have to keep in mind while drawing?
Excellent topic :3
From the bottom up:
Exilia Dragmire: She's got a really cute expression. I feel her eyes could be a bit closer set, just to make her face a bit less flat. Nice proportions on her body though.
Chiko - the image is so big I had to resize it to see it properly ;p Once I did that, I caught the full impactof the dress and tail design. Looks really good. The onlything is that her right hand/arm looks slightly off to me - her forearm seems very long, and her hand feels like it's twisted a bit too far for comfort.
Naphtali - she is a bit masculine, yes. You want her to appear more femine, give her a more hourglass waist by suckin in her waist and ballooning her thighs and hips. Shorten her torso. Tone down her muscles, specially on the thighs and lower legs. Or you could do a maculine woman. They do exist, just not very common in digital/fantasy/game art ;p Given her posing and design, I'd say she is pretty boyish and er... sporty? bloodthirsty? Her left knee is a bit small though, and I suspect there's something wrong about her armpitjointmusclesthingy. Oh, and think about how she's holding that sword - she'd need to a bit of rearanging if she intended to actually cut anyone with it - the blade is facing the wrong way and she holding it for a stabbing rather than a swinging motion. Looks intimidating though.
Timothee - It's hard to tell whether the focus is the girl or the car here. I like her design, specially the jacket, nice to see a modern take.
Adam Schumpert - Gah. Lovely. Like composition and design and everything so far. Can't wait to see how it ends up.
crossmirage - hard to tell anything from the sketch at this stage, but the pose looks very dynamic and the character a different take from the others - anime inspired maybe?
Angelsway - nice story. Beautiful face so far. Like her slightly wild hair. Might want to bring her right pupil down a bit - her right eye seems ... stoned? ;p
Janjager - another awesome looking piece already. Love the atmosphere, and her mischievous\malevolent expression.
Niva - love what you're doing with the hair. can't say more at this stage though.
Yeshin - Nice design in the initial sketch - think you lost some of that in the coloured version. The fan made her look more coy and seductive. I think you should use more varied colours in your shading, and remember that those paperwindows won't appear white at night - they'll be darker, and possibly orange/yellow from the lightsource of the room.
Ruined - beautiful kimono. It takes a while to noice the foxtail and creepy yellow eyes. Hope you can finish.
Tommoy - it makes me laugh, in a good way. Like a playboy bunny, but instead of the poffywhite tail, a long poffy red one. Nice bold colours and cute expression. It'll be nice to see this one finished.
Krisalide - With such a yellow lamp, the highlights of her kimono and face will be orangeyellow too. That much i can tell you. Proportions looks good. Like the character design and hope you finish. Look for references from photos (and sshhhh other [good] artists' art) for strange lighting situations - like http://zhuzhu.deviantart.com/art/Illumination-54039178
Pixeltuner - why do i get the feeling she's ready to grope some poor fellow in the most uncomfortable way? ;p Nice design. Looks like a real dominatrix/seductress. I don't see the point of the sharp things from her shoulders, but I don't know what they are yet.
Ugh. Now for mine. I doubt I'll finish coz i'm busythis week and a couple of the things I want to do (expressing a stony, shallow creek, and keeping a sort of chinese ink feel) are just a biiit beyond my capability yet. But I'll give it a shot.
Tommoy: lI can't wait to see it finished, fun and sexy.
Elixia: looks good, her expression is so innocent she would make you believe anything
Timothee Josu: nice contemporary turns on the subject!
Naphtail: So menacing and tall. I was going to suggest widening a bit the hips to give her a more feminine shape but others have done it already, so I just agree with that
she's dancing and those green blobs are going to be plants. She's going to have longer ears but I don't think I want any tail, she's an old wise kitsune afterall, she knows how to hide her tails
Nice look so far, even though I would move the eyes a little more together.
Ikfish: Dont be afraid, do what you can do. for the ink look: To do that I would make a custom PS brush (or painter) on an old paper texture.
Josu:: A modern version. nice thought.
Some scribbles from me. Not sure if it has to be the human form. A human-fox mix is very nice too, but maybe that would be more of a creature...
I like the indirect hints: Like a pony tail that looks like a fox tail or use the tail like a stola. I have some thoughts about it, but still not sure which way to go. A traditional japanese is very nice, but very direct... a modern girl would be nice too....
Vaejoun: Yes i like the ponytail idea too! the view of her from behind is a very strong sketch, love it!
Thanks for the comments about the eyes guys, an old bad habbit from my manga days, caught it and changed it
browser kept crashing while uploading this
well here my work at the end of day!
my fox lady is made with vectors.
i was amazed when using alchemy, but later on i realized that other vector softwaress are also "tabletable", so here is my sketch of this day:
Dunno if you know Naruto but ...
I like vektor pictures. but the head is very difficult to make out, because the elements are white and the bg as well. I would recommend a shadow or something behind the kitsune.
difficult... I have so many ideas I like but I can only do one...
Vaejoun: ... no >.> is that bad? those books never interested me ^^;
@Tommoy: Loving the pinup but I have to say the anotomy of the back is bothering me a little.
@elixia_dragmire: A little disturbing but I guess they aren't really human so makes sense.
@Yoru no Megami: Its a nice start.
@Josu: A modern take on the kitsune. I like it. Great shading so far but the boobs are a little lopsided also it feels like you are trying to hide the hands.
@timothee : Another modern kitsune. Can't wait to see how this progresses.
@Adam Schumpert: Wow love to composition and color so far only real thought is that the hips are bothering me. the angle seems to extreme naturally align with the ribcage.
@Angelsway257: Heh, men are that easy. Love the face so far.
@Niva.: Nice only really thought at this stage is she's rather anorexic more like a model than a svelte girl.
OK, thats as far as my attention span permits.
Hey guys this is my first proper go at Chow, i started to late on Zack and the doom bots, here is my idea so far
I just thought it was funny, that you choose the same color and form to surround the eyes ^^
Just experiment a little on it, the red spots are very simple. Try a pattern, a wave or something. Could make it a little more interesting.
nice start. very fresh. - A sci-fi kitsune.

elixia_dragmire: when you posted your sketch I thought it was brilliant and beautiful, but the color has taken away from what I loved about the sketch: it was an innocent looking woman sitting at a pond with a fish in her hand, the suggestion is there... or question... what is she doing with this fish. I think that adding blood around her lips took something very nice away from it. JMHO
Tommoy: very sexy... more American than anything else. dunno if that matters?
Kailaan: really beautiful, except for the eyes a great piece so far.
Mistermike: will be feminine or not? cool looking futuristic fox?
Josu: wow. hot. not Asian looking but hot.
Yoru no Megami: i like the concept, it has a cool look to it...I'm interested in seeing where it's going.. how a fox will be introduced... i like the style very much.
Vaejoun: the middle row has teh most interest for me.
i have some sketches done but such a hassle to upload them etc., hopefully will find time tonight. FINALLY trying to "get in" early on one of these. who knows.
