Hiii! I'm Romy, and I'm rather sick of stagnating in the pool of videogame fanart and androgynous eroticized fangirl-fodder that is my art. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those things- I love them both very much. I just know that there are other fish in the ocean; fish which I am unsure how to draw.
Additionally, I'm hoping posting here will help get my ass in gear to draw more often.
So please feel free to take a look, and kick my ass. I know there's plenty wrong, but hopefully with a little feedback and critique, it can become right!
It's pretty obvious I've been heavily influenced by anime, and that's fine, but I wish I knew how to turn it off. It's sort of at the point where I can't even pick apart the differences.
And fyi, all but the first of these were kind of inspired by the movie Kick-Ass. I can't be the only one who watched that and then had to go design my own superhero costume, right? So the first one is me, the second one is my friend, at her request. The last is some sort of badass catfight.
If you're worried about getting stuck in an anime style, maybe take some time to do some faces from life or photos? I think when you get into a style it's easy to just draw faces, for example, the same way all the time since you can just pull that process out of your mind really quickly to reproduce it from habit. Maybe it can help to give you a better sense of features just by taking some time to draw some faces from reference realistically.
