I started trying to learn how to draw around September of last year, my stick figures made me look like I had a tremor disorder, but my friend that's at ringling studying game art kept tellin me that with practice I would get better...

Your tread title is a bit confusing but I suppose I can look beyond it.
Yes, you're very much a beginner, but that is no reason to talk yourself down. Sure, teens and adults have something kids do not, self critique, but that is no reason to disbelieve in yourself once you're past that ignorance is bliss-stage.
And indeed, things get better the more you practise... most important rule for beginning artists is not to be too hard on yourself and just enjoy what you're doing. Art is first and foremost an enjoyable thing to do, so keep on going and you'll get better in no time~
