Thanks again for your long response
Your last painting is just awesome! ( the back ( butt ) of the horse is a bit to sharp/shiny right now - but you probably fixed that allready )
Just another Journey...
ďSuccess is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time.Ē
Thanx so much for the comments everyone ... I promise to give each person a response.
The reason for my absence is because tomorrow I will become a dad. yep ... sometime during tomorrow our daughter will be here! (sounds like I ordered her online ... hehehe).
As for the horse's ass ... it does shine a bit in the posted image ... but that is in anticipation of there being a shine/glare/radiance coming from the staff held by the wizard. I'm not sure what it will look like at this point as its going to be the last step in the illustration ... however I promise not to make it shine too much! Thanx a lot for all the interest.
Hey man thats pretty, pretty cool. I wish you all the luck, CA.org is able to offer, haha.
No serious, good luck with everything about getting your both girls healthy back at home and everything goes fine!
But be warned: now I have the time to overrun you man. Haha. No way, I'm too bad ^^

Congratulations first of all!
Secondly, this image kicked me hard in the face when I clicked and it first popped up on my screen. A great dynamic pose and compositions, interesting lighting, not to mention that it's a robotic fucking wizard!
My only nit-pick is that the purple in the staff and the light it's giving off is distracting my eye away from all the awesomeness in the main body of the image, and drawing it away to the very edge of the image. Maybe tone down the value or the colour a bit so it isn't as distracting?
Other than that I'd say a pretty kick ass job my friend.
All the best to you and your new family,
i'm blown away by the finish on that last sketch, many thanks for showing the process from the rough to the final, see u've taken some time off but well deserved, looking forward to the next crazy sketch u come up with!
nice design process
Hey people ... I'm back and our new addition to the family is doing very well! Once again thanx for all the feedback and interest! I should be back on the artistic horse soon.
@ smuli - Glad you like the colour on the alien animal image. I donít usually paint over in overlay but I thought Iíd give it a go and this is what happened. The chest of a horse seems to be really varied from breed to breed it seems and to me it looks good both bulky and petite. Will have to do some intense horse studies soon and wrap my mind and pencil around the different possibilities. Glad you think it came out OK in the end. Thanx again.
@ Jeff Bartzis - Thanx, glad you like. I love doing my doodles ... Itís the only way to come up with new stuff.
@ snootchy - I really enjoy doing my development doodles, sometimes the ideas are not that fresh but when I have a project to work on its the time when I really enjoy coming up with stuff. Thanx for popping in.
@ raminafshari - Thanx man. Really glad you like them. The drawings are what I really like, the painting process is also fun to an extent but I keep wanting to get back and sketch something new asap.
@ Rotor - Awesome! Thanx man ... now what I have to do is rush out and rent Heavy Metal to finally watch it. I have been told about this movie before but now that my images are starting to remind people of the movie I think itís time. Glad you like the comic images ... itís a relatively new style for me but I'm enjoying it plenty! Thanx for taking a look.
@ Lang Oulk - Once again thanx for dropping in to my SB. Hope you will not be too disappointed to hear that I was actually listening to a lot of jazz and progressive music while working on this image. But when the heavy bug bites me then metal definitely makes an appearance. Glad you like the crosshatching. I love crosshatching ... donít know what Iíd do without it.
@ Naidy - Thanx ... glad they made an impression. Iíll try keep em coming as often as possible
@ cgaddict - Thanx for the compliment. Always awesome to hear from people who think my drawings are well drawn. I have been trying to add more dynamics in both composition and perspective so Iím glad to hear it seems to be paying off!
@ GweNdZ - So happy you liked the WIP ... hope the final image was worth the wait. Thanx for stopping by.
@ Bombur - I sure love the detail ... hope you like the colour.
@ Kungfoowiz - Really happy that you like it. Donít pack your pencils just yet ... your work is coming along at a furious pace man. Love all the hard you are putting in and believe me it really shows!
@ queenmob - Thanx for the advice ... and I'm really happy that you like it. As I explained in a post the shiny bit is for the glowing staff. I did end up making it a bit more subdued in the end though. There is so much light coming in from the right hand side that I decided to have at least one strong light source on the left. Thanx for popping in.
@ tasser - Damn awesome that you like it. You sure are putting in the hard work over at your SB.
@ Sulphur - Thanx! Glad my SB is making a good impression!
@ DSmith - Thanx ... I Really worked hard on this one ... hope it becomes easier ( and faster ) in time.
@ N E X T - Hope it helped. I did dull the shine a bit so I hope it works better now.
@ danlambert - Thank you for the kind words! Glad you like the Painting, as for the bright bit ... I was a bit worried about the brightness of the right hand side of the image. After flipping the image horizontally I realized I had to do something about the heaviness so I tried to balance it a bit by adding at least one bright light source on the left. I did this to lighten the heaviness of this side as well as adding an additional light source which is almost always a great idea. I thought of making it green at first but finally decided on a pinky purple to fit in a bit better with the whole image. I like the final effect but I will play around with a previous saved version where the light has not been applied.
@ andres333 - Awesome! Thanx and I'm glad you like. There is nothing like seeing how an image is created Ö itís the most helpful visual aid ever!
@ jellyswirl - That is great news to me ... busy images have a tendency to just merge into one dimension so I'm glad to hear I didn't fall into that trap. I had fun with the characters details but the painting process of the rocks was really enjoyable ... I really like the effect so thanx for noticing!
holy shit man, that finished piece is so insane, i want this painted on the side of a van haha. really great piece, it's nice to see so much time and dedication put into a piece and with results this stunning i say every second was worth it! can't wait to see what's coming next!
I've really enjoyed looking through your SB. I like the humour and fun you get into a lot of the pieces.
Just one small nitpick on the last one - horses lift opposite corner legs, not both on one side when galloping along.
Once again thanx for the wonderful comments people ... I really appreciate it!
@ Lang Oulk - Thanx, yep this one took a while but Im happy with the results ... I just wish I had enough time to detail the horses legs a bit more. Lets see what happens with th e next one
@ Black Spot - Glad you like it. I really have to do some animal studies as I have no cooking clue about some general knowledge aspects of animal anatomy ... Thanx for the help.
@ Benjy - Thank you kindly
@ fudgeloaf - Thanx fudgeloaf ... glad you popped in for a look!
Here is my next painting WIPs. It s a private piece which was started a long while back but I think its time to carry on with it. I did post the line work drawing in a previous post, but as its a few pages back ill post it here for better reference. As always hope you guys enjoy.
oh no i can just this turning into a really bad assery render, really looking forward to seeing the finish on this!
i'm sure u won't disappoint as this sketch is looking killer already really dig the shiny metal render, look forward to the next bump!!
Thanx Kungfoowiz & snootchy ... I felt like some elements needed some work ... Its looking a bit better. Slowly but surly its starting to take shape. Hope you guys enjoy.
Really dramatic composition and colouring. Looking good.
You've chosen a palette with some very bright colors but they work well together and bring some sense of joy and action that fit very well with the idea. Only nitpick I can think of is that the left arm of the monster on the foreground doesn't look natural that far on the left. Also some contrasting black might help bring him more on the foreground. He seems to kind of blend in the warm sunset a bit. But beautiful work, one can tell you're having a good time with it.
Hey there people ... much obliged for the comments! I will do a shout out soon ... just a bit busy with work. I have to do 30 illustrations for a kids book, and the client needs them soon.
I'm happy to say that my 'Wizard on Horse' fantasy/Si-Fi extravaganza which I dubbed "Ancient ways die hard' (posted a few posts back) has made it to the 25 semi finalists over on DA ... Happy me!
Here are two more images for the current painting. Another WIP and the finished image. Thanx for all your help guys ... I really appreciate it. There is a high res version of this image on my DA account so if you are at all curious then follow the link below.
