Great updates! The last few character designs are great. Especially the nerdy fluffball. I love the nerdy fluffball! And this one as well!
The last one is also nice, but I think you can modify the design a bit. Right now it looks great as an aquatic creature. Looks a like a plesiosaurus for example. But nothing about it suggests it can get airborn. Ssoo... I hope you don't mind me doing this. I thought maybe modifying the front flippers to make them look a bit more like wings can help. And making the tail longer. This will help with navigation and ballance both in water and in the air.
Come to think of it, I think most of your creature designs have very short and bulky limbs. Except for this guy. Which is part of the reason he looks awesome. 'Cause he's different
Maybe you should try to go for more variety in that respect.
You've probably seen Terryl Whitlatch's work, but still- it never hurts to get inspired
Keep up the great work and having fun now!
Really dig your line quality and flow. Good stuff
You'll Get a Free Pair of Ranger Panties. They're like Catnip for SKANKS!
Windmaker - Thanks! Its great to hear from you! I appreciate your expertise/insight on my work, means a lot! I'll definitely be utilizing a variety of designs in my critters from now on . The thing is these cloud monsters "hover" and yet they can be mobile in the oceans, lakes, etc as well. Its a surreal being.. They dont need to flap wings or anything in air, they basically thrive off of psychic energy and power in order to get them places. But I'll work with his design a little more to see what else I can do or how I can make him seem a bit more believable.
once again, thanks!
SuperSwank1 - Thanks!

Hey Partisan! Thanks! Yeah definitely I'll post updates of other studies and whatnot on here. Just been EXTREMELY busy with my portfolio, school, birthday celebrations, etc. Back to work now! woot!!
I'm pondering something - especially looking at the beak/claw like thing to the right - and on those creatures in your SB that I enjoyed most (and left thanks to) - many if not most don't just do soft shapes but hard as well in a good combination.
& perhaps its the lack of contrast of sharp and soft - as in the latest alien - that doesn't manage to elevate these as high to me as say the body and head in #421 (I think I would have liked that one even more if the paws had weight against the ground and the soft round shapes showed the weight of the creature).
It's your style in the end, but perhaps some more weighted shapes and sharp corners would contrast well to the light and cute and highlight the later better.
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
