Really cute style. I love it!
Whirly - Why thank you! I appreciate your kind words : )
New character, his names "Tiny", but he sure has the attitude of a small little thing.. shy and wanting to be everyone elses size! This character is inspired by my maltese puppy harley , but hes the opposite, thinks hes a big ol german shepherd and definitely has the attitude of one.. little punk.
Nice to see you doing your stuff ^_^ Your humans getting better, but as always your strongest - creatures - are still very imaginative! Keep it up!
Seraph - Hey! Thanks! I appreciate your support and nice words hope alls well with you!
DefiledVisions - Hey man thanks! Means a lot! hope alls well with you!
Very cool creatures! I also like your the cartoony style too, very different than what I normally look at in terms of creature design, but still a very nice way to showcase your characters! I like how you still put in a fair amount of detail work into your sketches as well, giving it some degree of believability despite the cartoonish appearance.
Rob Powell - Why thank you : ) I appreciate your insight. Thanks for checking out my work!
You've got some sick creature designs- some of them are mind-blowingly cute. like 491 or 524
The most difficult area with your humans seems to be the far eye getting tangled up with the edge of the face. and the image on 450 shows good improvement there. So your on the right track.
Sean Galloway is my favorite for simple eyes that show huge amounts of depth. I've studied his stuff for hours- it's really solid.
When your tilting the head in difficult poses I've found it's easier to think about the profile view - when someone tilts their head down you see more of the top of their head. When they tilt their head back you see lots of chin, and little hair.
I used a toon reminiscent of your design to illustrate what I mean.
After a while doing studies like this carve into your brain and you wont even need to think about it
For anyone into cartooning I recommend life-drawing and perspective studies - I can't describe how much they've helped me along the way.
Hope this is helpful - happy sketching
Rhubix! - Thank you very much! Your advice was very helpful! definitely applying it to my future characters!!
I know Vertical in person. we did a show together three years ago in a group competition.
and dont worry I'm accustomed to harsh criticism. I actually prefer it over being complemented because it shows that I'm doing something right and will help me improve as a young and developing artist. No worries on that. I've been used to it since I started drawing at the age of 2. My whole family is made up of artists, so I definitely have all the support and encouragement. I take it in a constructive manner. not negative.
Here the most recent villain I've done. attached below.
Quick sketch of a New Character in progress. leopard/humanoid hybrid.
Instagram! - couple drawings from some figure drawing workshops I've been going to recently.
Jeremy - Thanks! i appreciate your insight. hope everythings going well for you : )
Aryeh - Thanks! Will do : )
Sup! Keep experimenting with your toons, some last characters, at least their faces, show improvement. Gestures- not so much. Are you planning to train realistic style? I think this would help. Cheers!
Seraph - Hey thanks for the advice! will do. I'm completely a self taught artist, so I've never really had formal training. The workshops I go to are just to get people together to draw, there isnt any real instruction. I'll work on my gestures more.
Quick study. Preparing for next character + style variation for portfolio.
Your little creature designs are cute remind me a bit of some creatures I remember from lilo and stitch.
Thanks! Chris Sanders definitely is a huge inspiration to me. I even have a stitch decal on my car . Most of the stuff in my portfolio is my own style, wanna add more of his into it as well as other styles to give it more variety. so I'm constantly pushing! just keep drawing just keep drawing!
Thankyou! Will be drawing from life and have more studies up on here soon!
Curious little sea turtle sketch : )
Valyavande - Thanks! I appreciate your kind words : ), more on the way!
Quick sketch of a really angry sea monster I created last night.
