So i need to push myself to work harder, faster and sketchier.
i always think that the sketch i am actually painting, is the one i need to work out to a big painting. but i experienced so often now, that i failed in finishing a good artwork because i already lagged at the beginning... the sketch.
this thread has the only purpose to force myself to update this journal constantly. poeple who want to give me critique or motivate me are welcome.

first sketches of the day.
anatomy with reference, then tried to use them for a quick character design
a bunch of 30 second sketches.
And here some 10 and 5 minute sketches with posemaniac as refenrence.
guess i should work more with reference before trying it from imagination.
this is it from today. good night conceptart.org!
First day at the office since 3 weeks of scool. felt really exhausted in the evening.
it's an absolutely different thing to the painting workflow at the weekend.
So here a bunch of 30 sec sketches. ref: posemaniac
and here 5 pieces of 5 minutes-sketches. ref: posemaniac
PS: Does anyone know, how to change the small thumbnail picture of the sketchbook? it automatically took the first ipicture i attached to my first post. look pretty lame.
Love your 30 second sketches!!! I think you're very good and curious what you could do from imagination!
You have to change the first attachment to change the thumbnail. You can even upload a small 100x100 pixel image as attachment. I'm not really sure if you can keep the other images as attachment too, maybe upload them somewhere else (like imgaeshack.us) and post them with IMG tags in your first post.
- illustrations, animations & games -
today, there will be no sketches, have been at work too long, need to take a rest.
bought a big and expensive anatomy book today by gottfried bammes.
i'm curious to read it. looks so profound. and i got the actual imagine fx issue. will read that in bed now.
Thanks very much =) yeah 30 sec sketches are pretty much like forcing your brain to work at 99% but they're quite fun!
You're idea sounds good. will try that out, as soon i have time for that.
today i only managed to do some 30 sec sketches. read some bammes pages. sophisticated book. but i like it so far.
spend half of my day at the office. had not much energy left to put into drawing.
Some hand anatomy, not much today either, but i read an learned some stuff.
i took bammes illustrations as a reference.
yes i had 2 days without posting any sketches or so.... that was because at friday i went drinking with friends after work. yesterday my dad had his 50th birthday, so i didn't really have time to sketch things.
today i did some 30 sec sketches again, then i studied some anatomy of bammes.
the third pic contains two thumbnails of non-human/anatomic ideas.
because i'm currently a little bit sick of bones and muscles but this is what has to be done... i know.
go and check out my deviantart profile either: http://phobetors-journal.deviantart.com/
so there where no updates for over a week now, sorry!
it wasnt because i didn't sketch or draw, but because i worked a little more with traditional media. did a lot of heads and head studies.
since i have no possibility to scan them, they wont find a way online.
but here are some more quick 30 sec studies:
i am currently working on a project for a competition, thats why this sketchbook is pretty silent atm.
here the sketch of the image.
Thx, i had also times, when i didn't manage to work my but off. But you always have to keep in mind, that there's no one out there waiting for you. The most motivating thing i did, was telling people who doubt that i ever could be successful with my art, that i will proof them wrong. those things take you under a healthy pressure!
@ Hey thx, i do that also...pecil sketching, but there are days i feel like drawing with a pencil and other days that i feel like work digitally. I don't have a solution yet on scanning my pencil stuff. no scanner....
there's a visible process in my contest-artwork. i guess if there aren't too many good people taking part at this contest, i might make it to one of the mentioned places. but i don't want to be coltish. i'm just currently happy with how the painting is working out.
Good work. Keep the anatomy practice up. Here is something I realized that helped my with drawing the neck, which I think is one of the hardest things to draw (for me at least). Are you ready? Think of the neck and shoulders as ...the tip of a condom. Helped me!
got my painting to a point just a few steps apart from being finished.
Will post the large version in a few days.
As soon as i will have this done, i will do some tons of sketches again.
i need to push my anatomy and composition skills to a higher level, but i needed to do this painting first.
since I'm currently sketching with pencil and paper, I didn't upload here anything.
But I am always busy...except when I have been about 10-12 at work, which appears some more often as last year.
I try to use every free minute that I have unless I am not too tired.
here's a sketch I did, the final image can bee seen at my deviantart gallery:
one more picture
photosketches, each 10 minutes...
for 10 minutes each..these look damn good!
I SWEAR ON THE GRAVES OF ALL THE TALENTED FILIPINO ARTISTS WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE ME, THE FILIPINO ART LEGACY WILL CONTINUE!

@the ANGRY filipino:
hehe, thx. what you didn't know: these were the best ones out of 30 pieces or so. you would not want to see the other ones
thx, i'm not yet where i want to be with that style, but i am pushing forward
I've got 3 heroe-ideas inside my head.
i keep trying to get then on paper. they will be pretty unusual heroes.
