Thank you been spending a little time on those things as well, but could definately do more for faces,
Here is a wip, it started out as a quick speed painting and started to integrate some photo textures/more paint, not sure when it'll be done, and I never really did finish up that barbarian dude perhaps I will revisit sometime.
All of this is from life drawing at college , finally got an oppurtunity to scan it
oh and one year posting! hurrah
Ah it seems we're very similar haha yes I am sixteen at the moment, and I'm doing an Extended Diploma in Art and Design at a local tech college. The course itself is pretty shitty but its a good excuse to keep doing what I'm doing with less distractions Your lines are awesomely clean, but they could do to be looser, look into suggestive lines and things. You should also do more digitals! but i think you know this anyway keep it up mate
Nice, hopefully I can start doing a college course soon cause my art class in high school sucks
Anyway, JoeS your studies are looking great man and I love your characters too. The environments are definitely getting better, but I have to agree with what OmertA and Nettle_Mountain said, you should do more life studys.
SamC - Hey man thanks for the reply, you are doing exactly the same course as I :o . Your right about the lines, im heavily influenced by sketches from Joe madureira as well as glenn rane & mark gibbons from blizz. I have been making an effort to loosen up though, especially with some life drawing at college
Forrest I - thanks, you will enjoy college a lot more
LAL - Thanks!
So here is a work in progres from this weekend, I just dived straight from line into colour. Also been trying to understand skin tones more, I have a few mma studies of which to upload sometime.

man I lame O.o no update for ages but I have'nt had much time due to college and deadlines. anywho heres a still life painting in oil, it looks quite good but the glare on the canvas is awful sometimes. two other life drawings for college, that skeleton foot is of an elephant at a museum ,a bunchof hands from loomis and my own and then some mma studies for skin tone practice. Christmas hols in a couple of days so I will have more time -
wow lookin thru your sketchbook, you've had huge improvement. I really like that last still life you posted. Check my sketchbook out some time.

Wow, a lot of improvement compared to the first page! Great job, continue doing those studies --- those life figure drawings, and especially the MMA digital studies, are looking fantastic. Love your armor design too! Be careful of large heads when drawing characters, especially ones with bulky clothes. Just decrease the size the head a bit and you'll see it looks a lot better. see you around!
Thanks sapphire I agree about the bulky heads, I am usually dissapointed when I scan a drawing in only to see it top heavy, I think the large heads come from not looking over and down onto the paper,
A few figure studies from mma, I have a bunch more, but they are mostly crude sketches / scribbles,
a few life sketches in biro and pencil and a 10 min pose sketch of my dad -
a bit more life drawing work at college the scans are pretty bad, but whatever. Feel kinda bad for still being on this page for so long, but college work gets hefty sometimes, as well as that i've been rather lazy
figure studies -
some idle life sketches between college work, and swords! that turd looking thing is a kneaded eraser nd' yeh, my skateboard wheels are that round. Finding it hard to improve, a bit stagnant with work overload :p
Thank you to Bb3lla, Ofidian, Peonso an Mrmagic and no im still 16
These are some drawings we had to produce at college from some small thumbnail sketches based on natural framework, I thought they turned out pretty cool,
