since i don't have my creativity flowing atm, decided to do a fan art portrait of Vexacion (awesome villain character from BoF Dragon Quarter) here's the progress. it looks flat atm, gonna color it when i get all the values and develop the form more. his nose looks f'd right now haha..
Fan art is always good~. And yeah, the form looks really wonky but I'll wait and see what you do with it before I critique.
@Enydimon: haha yes, a little too wonky huh?
here's some prog. on it, i only had like 30 min to work on it this morning, i woke up so late now i'm off to work! i think it needs more value range
i like the finished natalie portman studies, but did you use a specific photo as reference? I personally wouldnt have guessed it's her if you didnt say her name. I think her chin should perhaps be a bit bigger/wider and maybe a bit more cheekbone?
Great updates tho, keep it up!
@Lav: haha yeah, she's somewhat unrecognizable, maybe i'll go back to render it out more, and i agree w/ the cheekbone and wide jawline :3. thanks !
something i doodled @ work today, lol too many portrait stuff lately. anyway, it's just some random character i conjured in my head. he's supposed to be some prospector dude.
Lol, well I think it's interesting. His bicep is off, though. Should be facing the same direction as the forearm currently. What you currently have would be proper if he was flexing and his forearm was going upward. I kind of liked the last version better because the colours looked more natural and the newer one kind of lost value.
But experimenting is good! Keep up the good work, man.
@Enydimon: haha yeah i was comparing the color scheme of the two now that you mentioned it. i agree it looked better previously. oh well. i'm slacking in my anatomy studies lately, just been doing photograph stuff uggghh.. heh thanks though!
not too sure about this one.. but here's another photo study [WIP]
Cool master study! looks great
How old is the person in the paint you're working on now? His face looks very young but he has a lot of sideburns (or how you call them?) and suit give him a much older look at the same time. Interesting tho.
And for neck tattoos, remember to make them bend around with the neck towards the side.
Keep up the good job!
@Lav: haha thanks Lav! yeah the guy is actually pretty young looking from the photo ref. not so sure about the guy himself, but from the site i got the picture off, his name is Trevor Wayne.
here's another photo study i started after work, kinda had to stop working on it cuz i gotta go to my school's bookstore in the morning to get my textbooks n stuff!
osnap first anatomy study on paper in a looonnngg time.. added backdrop color on photoshop so that it doesn't look bland :3 anyways i think from now on when i do my anatomy studies on paper, i'll do one quick from photo and then loomis/hogarth/bridgman. as seen in this one the figure is from a photo, the rest from hogarth.
You got a good amount of studies you're doing. Everything's looking great.
And thanks again for the kind words on my journal.
@Enydimon: no problem bud, and thanks for stopping by as always :3.
@ZhouPeng: thank you very much mr. Zhou!
@B-Man: will keep up the studies! thanks man, as for drawing big, not quite sure what u mean? i'm trying to fill up my pages now if i do pencil, but i'll try to make bigger thumbnails
so i got up this morning and drew from a photo, but instead of making it exact like the photo i decided to put my own spin on it. bewbz.. sorry some of her looks flat LOL, i guess i kinda rushed the cross hatching.
