Marlisa: Thank you!
REGNIRUTH: I don't think anyone can come up with a good, convincing imaginary creature design without having proper knowledge of real life animals and how they work. I've spent a lot of time studying them and all the different body types and it's come in seriously helpful . Thanks a lot!
Naidy: Thanks Naidy!
InCOUM: Thank you Claud!
Oh boy, I've got some serious catching up to do here.
And finally, something new I'm doing; pet portraits. Sadly my mum's camera is not very forgiving.
I have done more, but I haven't got around (and probably won't for a while) to scanning everything. I'll keep you updated .
... I seriously need to start doing some colour practices again.
Oh wow, I really like those first few you have of the animals you have up there especially the wolf one with several bodies and fish tails
I had a lot of fun going through your SB
nice creatures makes me wanna do some of my own
cool creature designs keep it up!
Heya Lhune. Man, your stuff is looking great and I can really see you getting better and better over time. It's scary. I wish I could steal your animal anatomy brain!!
That last speedpaint is silly awesome and it must be entertaining playing fetch with that multi-bodied dolphin-tailed wolf!
Oh this is a bit random, and I don't know if you've already seen this, but I was watching this vid-clip and thought how it would make for a good gestural/postural reference library for how dogs (and similar animals) move and look doing random stuff like riding their bicycles. I thought you might find it useful!:

Great work Lhune! Keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback on my character!
Dig your work man. You definitely have a thing for mythical creatures. You like to do it, and that's why you're good at it. Keep them coming.
In post 61, you have an image of a "wolfman" of sorts (red haired one). I am particularly fond of this one. I like what you've done here but I think there are some parts you could rework. For instance, the shadows by his chest and crotch, and under his left arm are too dark (pitch black). It'd be nice to see just a smidge of form within that shadow area. And when I say smidge, I really mean just a tiny bit, just to show some more anatomy and to "pop" the figure more.
Also, you could also lighten up certain key points on his head, hand and knee to make it seem like they are sticking out more. I would also slightly darken his snout a bit more, to make it seem like his head is tilted more so than it is at the moment.
Rock on man!
I love your understanding of form and volume, you do that really great! Also I don't know much on animals concept art so your animals look pretty original to me. Keep up the great work! it'd also be very awesome to see some concept art on humans.
Wow, I love your Summer Coat drawing!!! Lovely concept and a beautiful drawing
Love your creature designs! Keep up the good work.
Hehe. I really like that wolf with many legs Your pencil rendering of the dog is also good. I hope you will finish that Overall, I like your updates and designs. Keep it up you!
Man i love your dragons, there are very cool.
wooblood: That's one awesome vid, thanks! Glad you enjoy my work as well!
Kaikikuro: Hey, thanks!
Mr.Pryminista: Welcome and thanks for your crits as well! I'd rather move on from the pic than going back to work on it, but thanks a lot anyway!
b-dawg: Thanks a lot! Some human(oid) artwork should be coming up pretty soon.
Kitterfly: Thank you!
Wilko: I will! Thanks!
witcrack: Thank you! The dog portrait is finished as can be seen below :>.
Uncharted_Artist: I'm glad you think so .
aLDoDarK: Hiya, thanks! Yeah I'm in my first year still, lots to learn .
Anyway, update! I need to do this more often.
A little info on them; the first two are part of a school project where I'm drawing 30 existing heroes from the game "Heroes of Newerth" after which I'll design 20 of my own.
The two sketches are part of a personal project of a 100 sketch commissions.
The (all slightly rushed) character art and environment were school assignments.
Nice to see people from the HKU on this site! I think your lines are very solid and clean, to me the forms read well and the creatures you draw are insanely nice! Color/painting wise however i think you still have much to learn, but im certain that will come in time! Keep up the good work and keep doing them study's
Your creatures are freaking amazing, especially their anatomy! I especially like that dolphin-wolf hybrid. I also admire your linework, you can make it neat and clean but still capture all the details.
Your dragon experiment with different styles, light, ... looks really cool!
Your best piece so far in my opinion!
Figures are looking very solid.
Try to push your color more with doing some still lifes and lightning studies!
Keep it up ! ;D
Thanks guys! I definitely need to work on my use of color and lighting, the Heroes project is a good opportunity to do that .
Creature update! The first design (the quadrupedal avian, basically a bird species that evolved backwards) has been sold over on DeviantArt, the other three are being auctioned off as we speak (over here) . I thought I'd try my hand at a set of these "adoptables" and it turns out it's actually a small business!
Love your drawing style and I really admire your knowledge of anatomy!
Great looking artwork!

My Funky Sketchbook
check it out
A thought had occurred to me as I was looking through your sketchbook. Through my relatively young experience on deviant art, as well as some run-ins in the critique center, I've begun to think of animal-oriented (animals, dragons, critters, etc.) art in less-than-flattering light. There's just so much crap out there that the stereotype of what goes on in the creation of this art and the fan base of really bad artists just continues to grow and grow. The sea of artists who choose to draw and paint animals as a main subject matter is just not a pretty one.
You really validate a lot of your work with understanding and knowledge of what you're drawing. Your structures are solid and the form of your creatures really shines in (what looks to be) a relatively timely fashion.
I find myself more interested in how you sketch. But I find really limited information on it in your sketches. Do you construct your creatures in the sense that you feel you HAVE to build a skeleton, or are you able to mentally figure these things out?
It's awesome that you're working on people more now. I'm not sure how much experience you have in the subject, but your understanding of general forms and structures seems to be carrying over nicely into your human-related work.
Keep up the good work and keep posting, please.
HAJiME: Hey, thanks!
Nallen: Thank you very much!
Quigleyer: As much as I'm actually guilty of this myself, I will have to agree with you regarding artists who mainly draw animals. On DeviantArt especially it's a fad that's growing just as big if not already bigger than manga, but at least there is a select group that does keep themselves busy with functional design and I try to be part of that.
I guess you've seen my sketching method in that livestream session I held the other day; when it comes to creatures, I don't really draw a base of what I'm going to do anymore. It's all here in my head, both the proportions as well as most of the musculature from practically any angle. There are some "blurry" areas that I really need to work on still, but for the most part I can manage without drawing any kind of underlying structure first.
With people however I can't do that yet. I still need to draw a basic skeleton and even then I still have trouble with the proportions and placement of the muscles, although it's getting better .
I'm mostly bound to either projects or commissions right now and I feel kind of guilty working on anything else. Thankfully there are some people who have apparently "discovered" my ability to draw humans and I've got a couple of human(oids) on my commission list . Looking forward to working on them as I really need to work on my human drawing skills!
Oh, as well as my painting skills, which is why I'm doing speedpaint commissions as well;
I really enjoy your animals Lhune. About you animation, its looking really good. Good weight and movements. Only things I see is the movement of the head and neck looks to small, and the spine should arc much more (I would think). But these are probobly the things you know But overall its really good.
whoa man, sweet job on that animation! looks very smooth! and im really digging your creature designs, im surprised you dont draw more figures, seeing as you must have a great grasp on anatomy (judging by your animals and imagined creatures). but either way, great sketches, and a great sketchbook! im gonna keep my eyes peeled for updates!
