hey Alex! great updates man!! that still life with the lightbulb and bowl and spoon is amazing! the lightbulb, with the window reflected in it is really nice! beautiful anatomy studies as well! keep up the hard work man!
Danny_K - Thanks for the tips! I need to stop using rim lights so much!
Aresa - Thanks! I try to do some pages of 45 sec poses every morning etc. gestures are hard!
NickyBeats - Thanks bro!
Artofinca - Cheers bro!
Been doing some Loomis heads, figures etc. Can't be asked to scan tough, just the usual crap.
Self portrait, my game face . Too much red tough, looks like an alcoholic.
Impressive studies, I enjoyed looking at your sketchbook. I figure we might be able to learn off of each other with the Loomis head stuff. Keep up the good work, alexson.
You are heading in the right direction with things.. if you are looking for some ideas.. be careful with the modeling of the teeth in your self portrait, a slash of shadow can make all the difference in explaining the shape of a tooth for example.
Perspective feels a bit wonky in your fruit still life, but the drapery kicks a lot of butt, nice one there.
Umm, I think just keep going bro, you are doing the right things and are way ahead of me.. =)
Hey son, make sure you study the structure of the head first and understand where everything goes so when you draw heads you wont just copy them but actually study them.
try to pay closer attention to color, don't hurry use the color picker if you need to on the actual reference so you will know what color is on the skin tone so later you will know more or less where to start, Key is not to hurry but to analyze and observe and think, always think. art is a mastery that deserves thinking just as anything else and sometimes even more. the great artist is the thinking artist.
I agree with Danny.
I've seen same thing in Tooth's SB - 1000 quick faces and not much longer studies.
I suggest you to study head planes and then go back to this quick sketches.

[ste] - Thanks man!
Danny_K - thanks for the tip
.:WoLf:. - thanks
Zeitwolf - Cheers!
Vatsel - Thanks, I will
Been away, done some manual labor with my brother this week. 14 hour days leaves not much time for drawing but the cash was good.
Heads from ref.
Shit from imagination.. My heads has actually gotten worse.. great.
Not much love in this update, I'll try harder in the future.
Oh hey, the new faces are pretty good (the value painting made me chuckle, lol) keep making these, you're getting pretty good at it. Do some full body stuff too, from ref and mind. Push it as much as the heads cause in the end you're going to have to put these together eventually.
Keep working hard, you're doing really good so far.
PUUUUSH IT TO THE LIMIT
Loathsome - Thanks bro, you're right I've been nerding heads to much lately I think. I get like that when it's something I really want to get better at I suppose.
LordVenom - Thanks a lot!
Braintree - Thanks! Ye I have problems with the skull form
some cartoon network looking piece of ¤%#
quick self portrait
"i´m dead inside", fucking lol på den, haha! fan vad du öser på, jag känner mig lat! fan ta dig.
studierna ser bra ut, grymma självporträtt!
vissa av ansiktsstudierna ser lite skeva ut, men det är sånt som försvinner med mera nötande och studier, så kör hårt. och fokusera på konstruktion och ytor och hela den grejen.
har för mig att loomis har en del grym info om ytor i ansiktet.
Nice heads, some of them look a bit flat, like the shapes aren't following the curvature of the face, but a lot of them also look really great. Nice enviros, but they look a bit too blurry in some areas.
[ste] - Thanks brah!
Fumble - Thanks!
Flaskpost - Tack! Mm hoppas det försvinner med tiden, mina fejs ser ut som ett gäng retards atm.
Danny_K - Thanks man! Yeah, small, frustrating baby steps in the right direction.. I hope.
jskotte - Thanks! Yeah I know what you mean and I agree, hope it improves with time.
Uuuhh I shouldn't show all these shitty heads. Posting for archiving reasons I guess
From Wesburt sketches.
A master study I started, some added challenge because the best picture I could find of the painting is rather crappy quality. Trying to come up with some of my own stuff to make it look as good as possible.
Figures. No ref.
The lighting in that master study looks real sweet. Your rendering and painting in general seems to be getting a lot better, keep doing the anatomy though, still seems to be quit a few issues in that area. It seems like your doing a lot of studies from photos, perhaps try doing some studies of bones and insertion points I think that would help a ton. Anyways keep working hard!
Alex! good stuff man, I like the master study it seems you are getting the hang of skin tones I can see that on the legs, the overall colors look good too.
Keep at it do pose-maniacs to improve your figure and gesture and try to add some more details on your characters in the portfolio section, remember that values change everywhere and they almost never stay the same in different areas of the character, keeping that in mind will really give you a wider variety in tones and make your stuff look more realistic.
