needs something more, just can't put my finger on it!
the ancient egyptian god horus, only my take on it is female. The environment is supposed to be larger than life and sun baked. I wanted the piece to have a realistic and eerie feel, but something is falling short and seems unfinished. hm. any suggestion? thanks!
First off what example did you use for Horace's head, as your's looks a bit like a parakeet and Horace has the head of a Falcon. Is this to make it appear more female?
Next since Horace is associated with the sky and sun, posing your figure surrounded by a large rocks can give a cave like feel. Perhaps more sky might be called for, and a nice big sun just for added measure.
Lastly look on the web for some reference pictures of say the Eye of Horace, or his(in your case her) egyptian heiroglyph and perhaps find a way to work them into your work. Even just in the border area.
Nice start Alicia. In my opinion, I would say that the border of the illustration is a bit too blurry. I see you are going with an aged look, but the blur infringes on Horus at the bottom right. If your focus is the character, make that the most contrasted area.
