LtPlissken - haha yes. Teal'c = the skull crusher.
ErikR - ha yea me too. im a lazy biatch right now. but ill finish something up soon.
Lav - thanks Lav!!
this is a gift for my sister, its a painting of her daughter Cadence, shes a cute little bugger.
Lav - haha thanks! but thats a girl! and shes wearing a diaper, hence the odd bulge in the pants. and yea, haha maxi always did look like elvis a bit.
some more progress. this is almost always the point in a painting when i totally lose interest. im guessing its because i dont have the intuition for finished paintings yet, that point where the next step becomes 80% instinct and 20% experimentation. i always second guess my work flow at this stage, and wonder what im doing wrong. i have horrific brush control too i just realised. and it shows especially on the edges of things in my paintings, they are anything but smooth and precise. i guess i just have to take my time alot more, and stop trying to rush an idea before its even realised on canvas. ah well, lessons i need to remember.
I think your creatures are really cool, love it!

Hey there! Just a comment on the last z brush character:
I know its a creature/monster but I think you should take another look at its anatomy around the scapula.
As you can see, the trap is pinched and there is a clear definition of where it attaches to the scapula. remember the deltoid attaches to the bone as well, below the trap. The last thing is that it seems like the lats are under a bunch of muscles, when in reality its right under the skin. I know you decided to change around the anatomy, but those are just suggestions to make it more belivable.
Please stop by my sketchbook!
Your latest works are looking good, I see that you're picking a light source, which is good. The 3d model is also looking good, the exaggerated anatomy works quite well, I think. Very comic book.
However, this one image, Max1, looks like a mashup between Jackie Estacado in his Darkness outfit and Sam Fisher or Snake. Also, in the black and white pass, the shadow on the ground doesn't quite correspond to the light source. I guess, like you said, you got tired with the image and hurried through the shadow on the ground. However, do remember that it's one of the big indicators of the lightsource and can seriously mess up your lighting if not put down with care.
Other than that, though, your art is really shaping up well. I love the fact that your value range has decreased, giving your works a more 'natural' and less glossy look. Keep updating.
LtPlissken - haha you said it brotha!!
Medusoid - thanks!! yea man, trying to break out of my super stiff mode...
tronrobot - thanks alot man!! but i cant take credit for the posing on the guy at the bottom this one was sort of a compilation between me (doing just the color) and this other dude Michaelson over at imaginefx.com, he did the lines and initial pencils.
Alternative - hey thanks for that man! i really should have referenced some legitimate anatomy before doing the back, i definately need to work on my anatomy alot more from imagination!
Vritra - thank you! yea my material painting method is still very generalised, and i need to do alot of material studies. everything still has a very flat look to it, so more studies will be coming up very soon. as soon as my school break starts at least.
. . .
very nice the values in #1830 are really coming along. huge improvements throughout this sketchbook!
